Review for The Manhattan at Times Square Hotel We stayed here for two nights on our first visit to New York City. The best part of the hotel is its location — right in the heart of Times Square, which made it easy to explore the city on foot without needing our car. That convenience was a big plus. However, our experience with the hotel itself was disappointing. Most of the staff, including the front desk, bellhop, and waitstaff, came across as quite rude, even after we offered tips as a kind gesture. Only one lady during our stay was kind and helpful, which stood out. Our initial room was very small — barely enough space to open our suitcases on the floor. It had an old, noisy AC and a tiny bathroom, which didn’t match what we expected, especially for the price we paid (around $700). After raising our concerns and paying extra, we were finally moved to a better room that was more spacious, quieter, and comfortable. One incident that really stood out was when we returned to the hotel to use the restroom and were denied access to our own room because it was being cleaned. We were asked to wait and couldn’t use the restroom in the meantime, which felt unreasonable. We ended up having to go to a nearby McDonald’s instead. Overall, while the hotel’s location is unbeatable, the service and room quality left a lot to be desired for the cost. We enjoyed the city itself, but I wish our hotel experience had matched the energy and hospitality we felt outside.

I say this in the nicest way possible; but this hotel is like staying at the Motel 6 of Time Square. The location is amazing. The staff is super friendly. The condition of the hotel is about what I would expect at a truck stop motor lodge driving through rural America. The rooms are clean, your floor and room once you get out of the crowded lobby is relatively quiet. The doors are nice and thick and you feel safe. But the conditions of the room make it so that you in no way feel like you are in a luxury hotel. We got a really good rate through a 3rd party website and that plus the location was the main reason we stayed here. And that was totally fine. We got exactly what we paid for. I feel bad for anyone though who books through an unscrupulous travel agency presenting this as a luxury hotel experience. The carpets are worn out. The paint is chipped. The furniture in the room has seen better days. The TV was nice and the room didn't feel super cramped for a family of 4. A mini-fridge and a microwave would have been nice for left overs but the ice machine worked great for our drink cooler and there is also a nice colligan water dispenser on the floor (do not drink NYC tap water!) The lobby is nice but a little small (seems like it's currently undergoing a renovation) and can definitely get crowded at busy times of day. Breakfast was a little disappointing, it was just prepackaged pastry and basic fruit (apple or orange) in a bag. The best part about it is was honestly the free tea / coffee to start the day off. All in all it was a great trip, and again, the location of this hotel cannot be overstated. Right in the heart of the city with easy walks to the Empire State Building, Rockefeller Center, and Central Park with plenty of subway options to get anywhere else in the city. As long as you are okay with rooms that are basically a place to crash out and sleep after long days and nights exploring the Big City it's totally fine. Just don't pay too much expecting some 4 star luxury room.

This was the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. I booked two rooms; one with two full sized doubles and one king bed. The room with the king bed was an upgraded room; however there was no king bed. My husband and I told the receptionist and we were told that the king beds were actually full sized double beds. So, false advertisement and a lie. The receptionist actually said "well it's New York. " We have stayed at the Hilton and Holiday Inn in Manhattan and had actual king sized beds. The A/C did not work. We tried to adjust it from the wall unit, but the box fell off the wall and we could not adjust the temp. The phone did not work the first night so we called the next morning. The maintenance man 'fixed it' but it was never cold and the vent leaked all over the half of the room where the vent was located. The website showed a bar, but neglected to tell us it's being renovated. So, there was no bar on site. The elevators were the slowest and as most of them did not work, the wait was 15 minutes and longer each trip. The window blinds were not working so we had great difficulty lifting and lowering the blinds. The other room with the 2 double beds was worse. The carpet was disgusting. It smelled and looked old and haggard. The balcony, while a nice thought, looked like a dirty alley way, couldn't use it. The door leading to the balcony had spider webs with black duct tape all over. The furniture was dirty and old. Also no refrigerator or microwave.

My daughter and I just checked in yesterday and it has been one negative experience after another. The moment we got here, I was instantly charged twice in which the manager argued with me for over an hour that she was correct. After proving that the money was already deducted from my account. She finally said that they would take the hold off once I check out. My daughter then took the elevator up to our room in which case the elevator was stuck for almost an hour on a day when it was over 100°. I immediately spoke with the front desk people and they were not concerned about it whatsoever and just said that they are working on it.We booked this hotel because my daughter was here for a Broadway. Related class and they asked us to stay an extra day. When I brought this up to the front desk people they made it seem like they were going to give us the extra knife for free for all of the inconveniences that have happened so far and then she wound up charging me $80 more than the price was online. I told her to Take the extra night off and I booked it on my own online and then I come to find out that they still continue to charge me with their higher rate which I am still fighting to have removed. Our room keys have been deactivated and non-functioning three separate times causing us to go back on a ridiculously long line to the front desk to get new keys. We have probably wasted about three hours total waiting in that line Just for keys. The bathroom has mold in it and the toilet would not flush so I had to put in a complaint for that as well. When I asked where the restaurant and indoor pool were that are featured on their website, they simply said that the pool has no water in it and is not functioning at this time and they are in the process of building a restaurant in which case you can hear all of the construction going on in the small check-in area. None of the photos that are on the website Look like what the hotel actually looks like. It has only been 24 hours and I’m scared to see what the remainder of the week is going to hold. If it was not for the fact that this is for my daughter, I would have left by now. This hotel Should be ashamed of itself

Time for a complete overhaul!! Rooms, elevators and hallways dated, and I'm talking decades! Where's your security? It is easy to walk in from the streets past the front desk and on to the elevators without anyone questioning whether you are a guest! Not cool! You never know who is watching....especially nowadays. You're in Times Square! The biggest positive... the staff. They try their best to work with what they have. For such an outstanding location, paying customers deserve better. I'll be back AFTER the renovation.
