The Manhattan at Times Square Hotel

I loved the location, it was central to all the touristy spots. It was my first time to NYC and staying at the Manhattan allowed me to do so many things. The room was perfect. What added to our travel that made it superb was the service. Ashley who was in charge of the 18th was so warm and welcoming. We had to loveliest conversations in the morning. We even gave her a hug when we left. All the staff were very pleasant; from the doorman Gene, to the grab and go staff William, and the night clerk (I forgot her name but she was I loved the location, it was central to all the touristy spots). It was very affordable considering the location. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would highly recommend staying here.

Great location, dingy and gross hotel. TLDR: go somewhere else We stayed one night here and I'll glad that's it. The paint on the walls were bubbling and peeling everywhere. The carpet was stained in multiple places, small stains on the comforter of the bed. You could poke the wall and it was soft in some places. The shower head shot water sideways out of the pipe connecting to the head, getting everything in the bathroom absolutely soaked. There was also visible black mold on the grout in the shower. The windows were so dirty you couldn't see out of them. The trim at the bottom of the walls was peeling away and filled with this really disgusting rust and dirt mixture. Part of the bed had the springs broken and dipped down in one spot making it very uncomfortable. This building needs to be taken care of better. At check in, I was provided the wrong room key. Went all the way up to the 15th floor only to find out I had to lug my luggage back down to get the correct key and I was already running late to get ready for a banquet event. Got back to the lobby and had to wait in line to be helped again to get the correct key. Ended up making me even more late. We paid extra for breakfast to be included with our stay only to find out they will only give you one muffin and one banana. The price we paid for breakfast to be included well exceed the cost of what we were actually given (according to their prices). The breakfast situation was absolutely absurd, I've never seen a place so stingy with breakfast for it's paying guests. We were so disappointed and expected so much more for what we paid for. We will not be coming back and I hope this review helps someone else book a room elsewhere.

The only good thing about this place is the location. I paid almost $600 a night. The room was dirty. Stains on ceiling. Stains on the floor. Stains on the bedsheets. The pillows were so flimsy and gross, I ended up using the pillows from the other bed (got two beds) and it still wasn’t enough. The bed felt like a water bed but it wasn’t. It was squishy in some spots and firm in others. It looked like the rooms haven’t been updated since the 90s and cleaned since the early 2000s. For almost $600 a night I expect AT LEAST clean sheets. I slept on the comforter in My clothes. Disgusting. The shower also would only do either arctic tundra cold or pits of hell hot. There was so happy medium. Also there was mold in the grout in the shower. I always bring My own soap, but I usually wash My hands when I first get in with whatever hotels body wash soap. It was empty. Also I could feel water trapped under the tub. Disgusting disgusting disgusting. It felt like I was at a motel 6. Gross.

The room itself isn't too bad except for you have no mini fridge or microwave, So any food you buy in the city you have nothing to refrigerate it in as well as nothing to heat it up in So keep that in mind. The bathroom in my room which was one of the updated newly done rooms flooded three separate times and the floor was covered in water every time I showered again not great because it got clothes Wet, shoes wet not to mention the fact that it's just an inconvenience And when I told the front desk all they did was say sorry that happened. Keep in mind the walls in this hotel are extremely thin. You can hear everything and when I mean everything I mean everything conversations in the hallway doors opening and closing people walking the elevator literally every sound. In New York that means it's all night. I will say though that the maintenance crew and cleaning crew are amazing. Wonderful people and do a great job as well as the door guys. They are phenomenal, 10 out of 10. Great people. All in all in all, not the best experience and probably would never stay in this hotel again.

Arriving at the hotel after midnight, having called early evening to reconfirm our rooms and inform the hotel of our late arrival due to a delayed flight, we were kept waiting for over an hour due to 'an issue'. The issue turned out to be that our rooms were not available. The night manager was extremely rude, did not apologize and told me i should be grateful that he was willing to help me out with two king rooms for 7 people. I had to book a room at another property at three times the nightly rate to sleep two of our party, and deal with very upset and tired children. Eventually around 2am we were able to access the two king rooms for 5 people. They were unrenovated rooms (we had booked renovated rooms) with aircon not functioning, and it made for a very uncomfortable night. The next morning a very apologetic staff member assisted us in getting access to the rooms we had booked but we had to vacate the room for 4 hours until the rooms were available. With little compensation offered this was an extremely stressful, expensive and negative experience. I had read the reviews and understood the hotel was under renovation and the stay may not be smooth but I never expected to arrive to deal with that. Once in the rooms we had booked they were fine and I would have had no complaints. Multiple families were checking in at the same time as us and were experiencing the same issue. So be warned if you are arriving very late!
