My first time in New York so I'll be honest and say I have nothing to compare to.
We were aware we had a city tax to pay upon arrival but were surprised we also had to pay $100 per night security deposit. (We were only charged $350 which we were informed on departure)
I'm happy to pay a security deposit but on seeing the room I believe its completely unnecessary. On all of my travels I have never seen a room so tiny. In my opinion the room should be sold as a single room and not a double as we had booked. We had to store our suitcases under the bed as there was nowhere to store in the room. The room was shabby and in need of some maintenance. The housekeeping team did a great job with what they had to work with so a massive thank you to them.
The shower had very little power but plenty of hot water.
I was pleasantly surprised at how quiet the room was based on our location. I expected noise from traffic but there was very little noise so a nights sleep was had. The bed was ok but could have done with an extra blanket or throw.
There was air conditioning which was extremely noisy though.
The hotel is very well located and I'm guessing they have much better rooms than the one we were allocated.
We could store our luggage on departure which was a bonus too.
I don't think I would return or if I did I would ask for more details about the room first.
New York was amazing though so we still had a great holiday 😊

The service was great. The rooms are a bit small but good value for money. The hotel is close to Times Square (2 mins walk) and main subway stations.
Special shout out to Maria at the front desk who helped us out with our booking after our third party cancelled without our knowledge. She helped us out by speaking to the 3rd party, a process that took a few hours - she made sure we were taken care of, throughout our trip.

Maria! You gotta see her! Like the song! She made our trip even better, she was so helpful and friendly. We upgraded rooms when we checked in. And we had the best time! For the location and meeting Maria, I had the most enjoyable stay in NYC

Like staying in dorm or hostel. I went through two room changes to find heat that worked. Rooms very battered, loose light fixtures, cracked sinks dings on every wall and surface. It was clean, staff was great and location fabulous. If you need no frills and want to save money good choice.

The best thing about this hotel is definitely the staff!!! A big shout out to Maria on reception she is a wonderful, friendly, and helpful person!! she will go out of her way to help and support hotel guests with all their needs and has to deal with unreasonable and rude guests on a daily (karen behaviour) but still has a smile on her face. I know how this feels as i work in the customer service industry and you can not please everybody!!! She has made mine and my mothers stay very pleasant and I would definitely come back to this hotel just to see her. We feel like we have made a friend for life 😀.
The rooms are basic but comfortable, the location is perfect, WiFi is super fast. I really don't understand why people complain they are not trying to be the plaza, it's a cheap and cheerful hotel that's right in the heart of times square what else can you ask for ?
