This place is average on net. Positive: good location, good food and friendly staff.
Negative: so dirty. The mattress is on a wood panel and the wood panel is so dirty and sticky. I don’t even want to think what those sticky stains are. The room/elevator also smells. A lot of air freshener trying to mask some other smell. Also I was told by the front staff if I parked at MPG garage, I got 30 percent off. I even asked her to type in to my Waze to make sure. The next day, neither the new staff member nor the garage admits there is a discount. Parking is 90$ a day there. So 30 percent matters. I wish the staff can inform the guests consistently about the parking discount.
Other than that, good location. Reasonable price. But the room is dirty. And the table is too low to get any work done on my computer.

Had an amazing stay at the Selina Chelsea, the highlight of which was absolutely Martin, the nighttime manager! We arrived at five in the morning after a long night on the bus, borderline delirious, and he welcomed us SO warmly, was super helpful checking us in, and started our trip off great :) Every night that we were out we would be excited to come back and chat with Martin and tell him about our adventures. The hotel itself is in a great location, right next to the highline, 10 minutes from the closest subway, and close to the water. The rooms are pretty bare-bones (no fridge or closet) but do the trick, and there's a rooftop terrace and bar downstairs. Would recommend - also make sure to say hi to Martin :)

Disappointing Stay
If you're looking for a spot in the middle of Chelsea for easy exploring, Selina Chelsea might seem like a good bet. But once you step inside, things go downhill pretty fast.
As you approach the reception desk, you're met with a wall of silence. The staff don't even bother to mutter a simple "hello" or "welcome." It's like they've taken a vow of silence, but forgot to tell the guests.
First off, forget about comfy carpets here. The floors are bare, which makes everything feel chilly and messy. And they don't even give you slippers to make up for it.
The bathtub? Gross. Not exactly what you want when you're trying to relax.
Noise is a big problem too. You can hear everything – your neighbours chatting, people outside your door, even loud music from the rooftop. Not exactly peaceful.
And let's talk about the staff. The folks at reception? Not friendly at all. They seem like they'd rather be anywhere else. But props to the housekeeping crew – they're nice.
Overall, Selina might look fancy in pictures, but in reality, it's just a disappointing, low-budget place with bad service. Save your money and find somewhere else to stay.

I never rate hotel rooms but I'm going to rate this one. I had a bad customer service experience across multiple employees. Also, the glass wall bathroom/shower might be fun but it's weird for a friend's weekend trip:
Chapter 1 - I prepaid online and the website froze while confirming my card. I refreshed and submitted again and then realized I had two charges for $1300 from them (I was staying there for 4 days). I called their customer service immediately (which was outsourced) and said they wouldn't offer me a cancellation refund for the duplicate booking. I finally got my money back thanks to my MasterCard team and no thanks to the Chelsea Customer Service.
Chapter 2 - When I checked into the hotel (in Chelsea), the person asked for my credit card, which I assumed was for incidentals or confirmation purposes. Instead, they handed me a reciept for an ADDITIONAL $1200. I told them that I already paid online and they proceeded to argue with me for the next 10 minutes that what I paid was just a reservation deposit. I finally got the manager in the room and after re-explaining the situation was able to confirm that I had, indeed, paid for the room already. The manager upgraded me to a king size bed as an apology.
Chapter 3 - Later the same night, after getting into my room and starting to drift to sleep (about 12:15am), I heard a door latch open. I assumed it was my travel partner getting up to use the bathroom. Then I heard my partner say "NO" and I sat up to see that another guest, with suitcase in hand, was entering the room with the key card they'd been given. Had we been out late that night, that guest would have had access to my computer and all my belongings.
Chapter 4 - I went down in the morning to inform the front desk of the problem the night before and they said "it doesn't happen very often but when it does, it's very embarrassing". I went back up to my room and found out that my key cards had been deactivated. I went back down and they re-programmed them and gave me two free drink tickets to the club in the basement.
Chapter 5 - I went to redeem my drink tickets and the bartender didn't know how to make a Manhattan.

Customer service is horrendous!!! Called in this morning at 7:45ish and a gentlemen picked up the phone. The guy was extremely antsy, almost as if he was under the influence of something, and repeatedly cut me off. I tried to ignore it but the main reason for my call was to find out where I can unload equipment but he wouldn't even let me get through a question before he assumed he knew what I was asking (which he never did) and tell me what I didn't want to know. This happened LITERALLY over 15x before I told him he's not understanding what I'm asking and for him to let me finish. After re-explaining fully he seems defensive but says: "You never told me any of that..." and I informed him it's because he never gave me a chance to ask my question!!!! He continues to just ramble on about irrelevant things and I continue to get irritable because it should have been a 2-3 minute call but it was 3-4x that and now he's gas lighting saying he doesn't like my attitude when I had been extremely polite until he cut me off over 15x and we kept going in circles since he couldn't answer the question I had initially called into ask!
HORRIBLE SERVICE! HOW ARE YOU IN CUSTOMER SERVICE IF YOU DON'T KNOW HOW TO LISTEN?!?!
EDIT: So last night (the night of the event), at the end of the night he came up and started harassing my Production Assistant, the person who rented the venue and was running the festival, his colleagues, and me while they were sitting in the restaurant downstairs. This went on for almost 10 minutes before we started packing up to leave. A team of filmmakers that were at the festival witnessed the entire thing and left when we left and were apologizing that we had to put up with it.
Then as I was outside explaining what happened the morning of to the person running the event and his colleagues, he comes outside yelling that we have to remove ourselves from the sidewalk. Not only was his customer service horrendous, he wasn't aware of law --- sidewalks are public property. Little did he know one of the friends of the event owner was an attorney and put him in his place fairly quickly.
Horrendous, unprofessional etiquette. Unsure how someone like that has a job in the service industry.
I also forgot the mention that while we were still inside he was threatening to find out who I am. He didn't elaborate further but the insinuation was clearly a threat.
