I recently stayed at The Civilian with my girlfriend, who had previously visited and recommended it based on her positive experience. The hotel itself is beautiful, with clean rooms, stunning views, and friendly staff. The location is ideal, within walking distance to many attractions, and I was excited for the stay. However, one issue during our visit really stood out: the elevator situation. During the day, everything was fine, but at night, the hotel dedicates an entire elevator for bar patrons. This left hotel guests waiting for up to 20 minutes for an elevator. When one did arrive, it was often overcrowded. On one occasion, the elevator stopped on the bar floor, and a hotel manager proceeded to squeeze an elderly guest onto the already packed lift, citing that she had been waiting too long. This experience left me with the impression that the hotel prioritizes bar guests over those who have booked rooms. As a guest, after a day of exploring the city, the last thing you want is to wait excessively to get back to your room. While I truly appreciated the hotel's ambiance and the hospitality from the staff, this lack of consideration for hotel guests during the evening hours is a major oversight. As a result, we will likely choose a different hotel in the future, where our comfort and convenience as hotel guests are given equal priority throughout the day and night.

We had a great stay at the Civilian Hotel in New York! The location was excellent, making it easy to explore the city - right around the corner of Times Square. The rooms were simple yet stylish and very comfortable. The overall vibe was modern and welcoming. Perfect for anyone looking for convenience and charm in the heart of NYC!

I was only here one night but I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The hotel is exquisite, my room was very comfortable, and the hotel staff were exceptionally kind. Consider making reservations for the cocktail room where there is live jazz on certain nights and/or on the rooftop bar. The food I had at Rosevale was delicious and I didn’t need a reservation late on Saturday night. I would definitely stay here again.

This is an amazing hotel. The staff were beyond helpful and friendly. The building is so nice. The location is great. The rooms are wonderful and do a perfect job of using the limited NY City space. The view from our room was incredible. And they even went out of their way to make our anniversary special. This is the kind of hotel where all the details are paid attention to, and it shows. I loved staying here and will again.

Civillian Hotel is a true NY gem! The ambience fits the area so well, not to mention the great location it’s in. Everything was clean and pretty to look at. The room was small but it didn’t bother me much as the view was great. I loved the staff as they were sweet and accommodating. They were able to check my bags complimentary while our room was being prepared. Jazz night in the cocktail room was my favorite. I will be staying here every time I come to NY!
