Nice resort, but the location is in the middle of nowhere. So either you stay there all time or rent a car or spend a fortune on taxis. Facilities are good, but some repair on the furniture would be nice to have. The food is good,beer is overpriced. Stuff is extra friendly. Overall quite a good impression, mostly suitable for beach holiday with the family

Stayed for 2 nights, the suites were very comfy and wonderful. The food wasn't equipped for Indian vegetarians though. We were there to celebrate my wife's 41st birthday and So Sofitel team over email confirmed that they would arrange a cake which never came, was sort of disappointing. But their extreme gesture for packing breakfast for us for an early check-out won our hearts 💕

This hotel is beyond shocking. I'm currently staying here and my experience is extremely disappointing. Following are the reasons 1. They only give you two coffee capsules free irrespective of the duration of your stay. From 3rd onwards they charge 2. Rooms are extremely run down and unhygienic. Floors are broken and curtains haven't been cleaned for ages. 3. Food choices are extremely limited considering it claims to be a 5 star hotel. 4. Last but not the least, I found used slippers in a brand new packet as opened them. I would urge everyone to avoid this hotel as it's not worth a penny.

We had a good stay, our room was nice and clean. We really enjoyed the nice beach (good for snorkeling too), the pool, the breakfast and the outdoor shower. Check-in was great, we felt very welcome. If you want to explore the island, you will need a car, as the SO Sofitel is far from everything. The only downside, which has impacted our stay was the late checkout handling. Our flight departed late, so I asked for a late checkout beforehand via email. I was told to ask again during our stay. However, during out stay I was told that they can only tell me if it’s possible on my last day. This is way too late. And then, it was denied. So I had to ask them again, have had a discussion, then we could finally get a late checkout. But, surprisingly, we had to change the room on the day of departure. I found this very stressful, especially as we also paid for the late c/o. This handling needs improvement. Also, during the room move, one of our suitcases fell off their buggy, resulting in many scratches. Not nice.

READ THIS BEFORE BOOKING: Our stay at So Sofitel Mauritius was a massive disappointment and sadly the first time in our lives we’ve ever felt the need to leave a hotel mid-stay — after just four days. Let’s start with the food: absolutely awful. Think cold, stale, minimal variety, and certainly nowhere near 5-star quality — honestly, barely even 1-star. The general upkeep of the hotel is just as bad. The property is decaying, outdated, and neglected. It’s clear that it hasn’t seen real investment or care in a long time. The majority of the staff were disengaged, rarely smiled, and made little effort to be welcoming or helpful. The only real exception was Didier, who clearly cared and tried his best to resolve issues — but the problems were far beyond what one person could fix. The cocktails and drinks were of shockingly low quality, tasting like they were made with off-brand, watered-down alcohol. On top of that, staff frequently forgot our orders, and overall, service was chaotic and disorganized — a full re-training is badly needed. Not to mention you are limited to two coffee capsules a day in the room then they charge (even when you pay for all inclusive) A particularly disgusting issue was finding dead flies in our bathroom sink — completely unacceptable for any hotel, let alone one claiming luxury. To be honest, I don’t trust the glowing reviews out there. I urge anyone considering this hotel to read this and reconsider. It’s clear the place is riding on an outdated reputation, and without major changes, it shouldn’t be considered a 5-star resort by any stretch. Avoid. Save your holiday and book elsewhere.
