It is my goal to give an objective review, since I rely on reviews so much myself when I travel. Overall, Sanctuary Cap Cana is an incredibly beautiful resort, and the staff were incredibly warm and accommodating. I would say that, for us, the staff were as wonderful as the resort was beautiful.
From the moment we were greeted by the concierge and our butler we were treated like royalty. We had mentioned when we made the reservation that it was our 15th wedding anniversary, and they had a bottle of champagne, a small cake, and a card signed by the staff ready at our arrival to our suite.
Sanctuary Cap Cana has the ingredients to be a very good resort, but it does not implement policies that would keep decent guests from returning. If I had a chance to go to Sanctuary again I would not go. If I had the opportunity to go to the Dominican Republic over St. Thomas, I would not go. Sanctuary Cap Cana needs to learn how to cater to those who are willing to pay its hefty price or it will become nothing other than a boring Carnival Cruise Ship on land.
But the people that work there are rock stars. If you go please remember that all-inclusive does not mean that you should forget to tip your service providers.

Extremely Dirty rooms, hair everywhere, dirty sheets leaking windows, unacceptable cleanliness.
Moved to a different room with no hot tub. Sheets stained again, had to be changed. Ended up in a room at 8:15pm having arrived in the morning!
Manager Luis a disgrace. No customer service. Stated he would move us the following day, never got back to us, if anything avoided us.
Unbelievably rude customer service from the manager.
Always use Marriott, unacceptable on this occasion. Still no contact.

It was my first time in Punta Cana. This was the best hotel experience I’ve ever had. Genesis at the front desk was very helpful with excursion and checking out. I’ve felt more welcomed than anywhere else before. The hotel bartender Marisol made me amazing drinks upon arrival and made great recommendations. The staff at the Italian restaurant was so nice and the food was so good as well, that I had to go there twice! Brian kept me informed of all the events at all time. With all that the beautiful views in the relaxation brought this trip full circle. I’ll definitely be back again and again!

Just got back from Sanctuary. Stayed at the Royalty villas we shared with another couple. The best part of the trip was the Entertainment team and the service given by all the kind servers. The rooms were warm so I requested a fan, which they brought. The AC condition throughout is not a plus for sure. The best restaurant was the Steakhouse first and Blue Marlin second. The Italian restaurant was disappointing though. The grounds were beautiful and well manicured. The outdoor bars were fabulous also. Waiters always willing to please. Do not expect a beach trip as the seaweed was pretty bad. The pools were great. Overall a good experience.

We went to Sanctuary Cap Cana on our honeymoon. The place is fantastic and we stayed at the castle junior swim out room. We were wowed with the beauty of the property, the courtesy of the staff, and the overall cleanliness of the place. A special shoutout to our Butler, Joan, who took exceptional care of all of our needs and went out of his way to service us. He most definitely took our experience to the next level and his English was flawless. We cannot say enough about him. He was always a text away and very kind. He did an excellent job making sure we felt safe and comfortable. The whole staff was excellent and always happy to serve the guests. A server in particular, Rene, was exceptionally kind and even taught us some of the DR lingo, as we also taught him some slang from our country. The room was comfortable, the pools beautiful, and food available whenever you wanted.
That all being said, there were some things that were not super great. Some cosmetic things such as the shower walls having small holes, poor tile repairs, and our tub leaked (but they quickly fixed this within a few hours). The worst was some of the food. Some of the food was fantastic, especially the pizza and steakhouse. However, the buffet bars had stale bread and food that had clearly sat out for longer than it should have. My wife had some food (seafood) from the beach snack bar that gave her food poisoning and she was sick for almost 2 days. So overall, be careful what food options you choose from the snack bar and buffet. If you are doubtful, probably don’t eat it. Or have them make you a fresh one, they will happily do that!
Overall we would consider this a 4 Star stay. Amazing butler, fantastic service, Beautiful place, decent food (sometimes). If not for the food, this would most definitely be a 5 star place!
