What an amazing holiday at Royalton Cancun! The food was absolutely outstanding—Hunter’s Steakhouse was a real highlight. As repeat visitors, we never tire of the incredible quality. The weather, the views, the cocktails… everything was perfect. If we had one small gripe, it would be the cost we paid through TUI for the “butler service.” In reality, this amounted to joining a WhatsApp group to arrange dinner reservations and similar requests, plus access to a private dining area in the restaurant. Honestly, it felt like we were just messaging the front desk, which made the price hard to justify. That said, our room with the whirlpool jacuzzi bath was gorgeous, and overall, this remains a fantastic holiday destination.

We’ve generally had a great time. Staff are lovely, rooms are comfortable, spacious and a good temperature, and the food is delicious. The pools are lovely and haven’t seemed too crowded. The teens hangout is well equipped and welcoming, and Sergio (staff member running it) was kind and helpful. We’re here in August so there’s been a fair amount of seaweed although the staff work hard to keep it as clear as possible. Sadly, this has given the resort an occasional eggy-sulphury smell but not overly off-putting. We’ve had a great holiday.

Went a few weeks ago and they informed us WHEN WE GOT THERE that they were closing down in 3 weeks so things may be under construction. They weren't kidding. They didnt close any of the pools down but were doing the work right there. Chipping cement block walls right off into the pools people were swimming in. They even dropped a dirty greasy sponge in the pool right in front of us. It would have been nice to know at booking that there would be "some" construction. But nope. Then the smell. It smelled like a musty cigar all over. It was intense. Especially when you went to the buffet. It took me 3 times of washing my clothes when I get home to get the smell out. The food. Oh man the food, bland. No seasonings what so ever. We went to the steak house one night and the steak tasted like they boiled it. Just nasty. The only thing that was good was the waffles at the buffet in the mornings. The service. Bad. Simple as that. The bartenders staff was very rude and deliberately didnt make eye contact so they didnt have to make drinks. They also refused to make any shots other than straight up ones. They said they "weren't allowed". I've never been to an all inclusive that doesn't make shots. Then when you tried asking the bar staff to make a drink they walked away half way through your order and made pretty much whatever they wanted that was close enough. The servers and hosts at the restaurants were un accommodating as well. We had a party of 7 and the only place that would let us eat together was at the buffet. Other days we had to sit separately and out tables were never close to each other even though we repeatedly asked to sit next to each other. Anything we asked for seemed like a huge inconvenience. I could go on and on about my stay. But I won't waste anymore of your time. Just as I wouldn't waste your time or money on this resort. There are WAY better ones in the area.

5-stars even though there was some bad things. 6 people from my family got sick from the unclean water. The workers were very nice and at the water bar, the worker, Henry, asked my kids to get the glasses left around the pool. It was a fun game for my nieces, nephews and children. The beach was covered in seaweed. The food was exquisite.

Food - 7/10 The food was good overall. Reservations are required for restaurants, though you can use the app to make them; they don't allow you to make reservations for large parties (6+). We had a group of 12, so it was challenging to have dinner together. The main dishes were flavorful and satisfying, but the side dishes consistently fell short, often bland or just looked like a garnish. Some restaurants stood out more than others; we enjoyed the Italian restaurant the most. The buffet was as expected, with a lot of options, even a small children's buffet area and gluten-free options. Appearance - 6/10 The resort has a lot of potential, but maintenance is clearly behind. During our stay, parts of the property were under construction, and we were informed by our butler that the resort would be closing soon for major renovations. The hard surfaces around the kids' pool and main pool area were in need of repair, with several uneven areas where you had to walk with caution. The layout and design of the resort are beautiful, but upkeep is definitely needed to match the price point. Service - 9/10 Most of the staff we encountered were professional, polite, and eager to help. That said, the resort seemed understaffed at times, which led to long waits for basic services like drinks or dining. On the positive side, our butlers - Rodrigo, Alberto, and Rubisel - were fantastic. They made sure all of our needs were met and truly elevated our experience. Entertainment - 5/10 This was one of the weaker areas. There wasn't much happening during the day in terms of organized activities or entertainment options for guests. The evening shows were enjoyable but didn't stand out compared to other all-inclusive resorts we've visited. If you're looking for a lively atmosphere, this may fall short. Room - Diamond Club Family Suite We stayed in a family suite within the Diamond Club, and the room was one of the highlights. It was clean, spacious, and well-maintained — perfect for our family's needs. Having the extra space and Diamond Club perks was definitely worth it.
