Our family visit to Iberostar Waves Paraiso Del Mar has been fantastic. The service is impeccable. As soon as we arrived, Carolina was part of the team that greeted us (she was welcoming and chatted with the teenagers while we checked in) and she, along with the other staff, has continuously checked in with us to ensure all of our needs are being met. All of our wait staff and housekeeping staff have been top notch. The facilities are very nice and the views are beautiful. Food is delicious. We have two people in our party with food allergies (almond and gluten) - there have been plenty of safe options. The staff is knowledgeable about the importance of accommodating for these allergies and the person in our party with celiac disease has had not issues with cross contamination (and had plenty to eat!). I would recommend anyone to try this place! (It's our second visit in 3 years. Not getting paid to write this review. 😊)

I came here to meet my best friend and celebrate my birthday! This was the biggest resort I've been to. The location is close to the cancun airport, 35min. Everything was great, the views, room, food, service you name it. We only ate at the buffet and the beach grill. Didn't feel the need to try one of the MANY restaurants they had on site. The only thing I would say to improve is to make the map more user friendly, but that could have just been me. Definitely bring RUNNERS to walk the resort, or get a ride on one of the MANY golf carts/shuttle they had. Overall loved my stay here, would definitely recommend and would love to come back!

Riviera Maya is a nice quiet place with nice beaches. However, the cost to go to playa del carmen or Cancun is too high for a 30 minute car ride. The hotel amenities are nice. The room were in order and clean. We were given a gift of better rooms without paying when checking in. It is a good first impression since every upgrade which doesnt feel like an upgrade will have to be charged. Foodwise, the buffets are solid, the lobby and beach bar are perfect, the burger bar (beach and shopping center) are excellent, the french restaurant was very good (even if some of the plates were open to interpretation as a french version), we did not like the smokehouse, food was okay at best. The pool is great and the beach is good too when you find chairs. Beware of the rocks in the water.

Really enjoyed our time here! If you come, try to get Abel to check you in- he’s awesome! At breakfast at Mercado look for Sergio! He’s also amazing and Abner at the Mexican restaurant was great! The buffet food was really good and we liked the Mexican restaurant so much we went twice! . The service and people and this resort are the best!!!! If you want a tattoo you can go to Ek Balaam and ask for Arturo.. he was awesome and the price wasn’t too bad! Also it’s right on the resort!

This is 2 star in Canadian/ American standards. This is not hotel, even not a resort!!! Some old low rise buildings in a big unused area. The rooms are too old. Nothing to do, even in Christmas. Very death at nights. We are here now last week of December 2025 and very disappointed. We have been in Cancun 4th times and first time in this awful area, blame ourselves. Not worth it at all!!! Even if it’s free do not come here!
