The hotel seems to be trending downwards a bit. Food sections were closed off, check-in was quite lengthy, secondary pool was closed. However, highly recommend spending your evenings in the sports bar. Air conditioning, current live sports and friendly service. Kevin on bar makes a chocolate martini that will make you come back for that alone. Daniel’s speed on bar makes getting refills a breeze. Both Kevin and Daniel have top notch customer service. Grateful for them!!

Resort is beautiful, service is top notch (Manuel, Enrique, Liberto, Eduardo, Aure and Israel) you are all amazing!! Our stay would not have been as enjoyable without you!) Sad to say that it obvious in off season (Early November) that the resort is understaffed. Bars are often lined up for 20-30 minutes with only 1 bartender at a time (kudos to them for handling the stress and rude guests!) Good luck getting à la cartes - we were told everything from it was understaffed, guests from Jamaica who were displaced got preferential booking, Hyatt buying out the resort - then heard that premier guests can book 30 days in advance instead of the 10 we were told. We tried right on the 10 day mark; and were able to get Japanese 3x - so much for variety (we bugged for 2 days without any success) we also met people that showed us they saw free spots when we checked there were zero at literally the same time we checked. Rooms are extremely dated, A/C barely works, zero airflow - thank god for a ceiling fan, dehumidifier and some overcast weather. Oh and 2x power receptacles in the entire room, one with a lamp and one for the coffee maker (some light fixtures are hanging from the wall via 3-4x screws) thank god this place is getting renovated; it’s dated!!! The staff make this resort what it is, I recommend the staff more than the resort… love everyone we met here!

We had a very nice experience. The food was similar everyday. Not much variety. We were asked to exchange rooms on the second day and they gave us wristbands to be able to explore Sian Kaan and Akumal which were much better buffets. We weren't able to book many a la cartes which was a bit frustrating. The beach and pool areas are nice. Staff was friendly and courteous. Very far distance from the airport.

In the Kukulcan buffet our servers Karina, Manuel and Aure were excellent and the highlight of our meal experience!! The 5 is for the staff. Every bartender, entertainment staff, server etc have been top notch. The only fault of this resort are the Hyatt policies that the staff do not have control of. On our 10 day visit we were only able to get into 2 of the restaurants even though we tried booking the moment we were able to. We only were provided options the last two days because we mentioned this in a review and they wanted us to change it. Again the staff is awesome! The service outside of the restaurants were great.

We had to leave this hotel early due to extremely poor room conditions. Every room we were shown had a very strong smell of mould, dampness and chemicals, which was especially worrying as we were travelling with our almost two-year-old child who has early-childhood asthma. We were shown three different rooms, all with the exact same issue. Instead of offering a real solution, the hotel kept proposing paid upgrades to more expensive hotels within the complex — and the price of these upgrades decreased the more dissatisfied we became, which unfortunately confirmed to us that the hotel was well aware of the problem. After seeing the third room, all we wanted was simply to leave the property as quickly as possible, because we didn’t feel safe staying there with our child. The explanation that “it’s because of the climate” is not accurate. We stayed in several hotels across the Yucatán Peninsula, and none of them had such an intense smell of dampness or mould. This issue is specific to this hotel, not to the region. The resort advertises itself as a 5-star property, but in reality the standard was nowhere close to what was promised. I would not recommend this place, especially to families with young children.
