Stayed here for 10 days with family and this is my list of the good and bad noted throughout our stay.
Good:
-Good selection of pools. There are four main pools, also kids pools and more secluded quiet pools
-Lots of seating options in the lobby area with multiple spots for groups.
-24hr sports bar with food, drinks and pool tables (for all ages)
- Buffet menu was decent, nice that they have a snack bar on the beach.
- Disco (nightclub) is very fun with good music and bartenders there are very nice and caring
Bad:
- We waited over an hour for the teppanyaki restaurant when we had a reservation. Even drinks took 45 minutes. All of the other chefs were playing games and having fun with the guests and we felt as if our chef was just forced to be there. We also sat at the fondue restaurant for over 2 hours to finish dinner because the service was so slow.
- All of the cats that live at the resort evidently have intestinal parasites and are very sickly and hungry, it is very sad as past resorts I have gone to take care of their “resident” cats.
- The patio lights automatically shut off around 9 with no way to turn them on, which is very frustrating for a student trying to study or for playing card games.
- Many (not all) of the pool bar bartenders are rude, and they only ever really have one person working at a time.
- You feel attacked by salesman everywhere you go on the resort, whether it be photo people, massage people, coco bongo, or water activity’s, no matter where you walk you feel bombarded.
- Lastly but I feel that is very important is the lack of accessibility at the pools. Most pools do not have stairs to get in / out and have a ladder which is very difficult for senior citizens / persons with disabilities to get in to the pool.

Hotel Grand Princess Riviera Maya exceeded all our expectations! The resort is stunning, with lush tropical grounds and beautifully maintained pools. The staff were incredibly friendly and went above and beyond to make our stay special. The rooms were spacious, clean, and comfortable, with great views. We especially loved the beachfront, which was pristine and perfect for relaxing. This resort truly made our vacation unforgettable.

This hotel should not have more than 3star rating. Starting with the room we were given.. strong smell of mould, stains on furniture, yellow stains all over the bath. Asked reception to get new room and have been told that they must first inspect and try fix the issue. Hour later they've sent a cleaner and a handy man in - cleaner was not able to get rid of the stains and left, handy man sprayed lots of nice smelling chemicals on to the walls and into the vents(great fix to mould problem). We insisted on a new room and were shown 2 more rooms after waiting for 3hours. 4hours and 3 rooms later we could finally unpack our bags😅 I mean it's not staff fault but hotel needs an upgrade.
Resort it self is lovely with plenty of wildlife roaming around. Lots of pools around.
The beach is nice, they do their best to keep sand clean but water stinks of rotten eggs due to all the sea weed😅
Food and service in restaurants and buffet is quite good. Rooms thou are a major let down.
I'm happy that we did not book a long stay in this hotel, just a few days to finish off our holiday.
I would definitely not recommended it unfortunately.
No idea how TUI have this on their list as 5star hotel.. they definitely need to revisit.

Lorenzo at the snack Riviera was my waiter for breakfast everyday and was incredibly hard working, polite, and always knew my drinks and would have them at my table ready to go each morning. He was very professional, yet fun and it was obvious he really enjoyed meeting and talking to people. Hands down one of the best staff members I've met (although all were great) and he went above and beyond for everyone in his section to ensure everyone was happy.

Room 6027 was infested with mold. It was literally coming out of the tile in the bathroom and on the outside of the room in the hallway. We just returned home yesterday, and my child and I have a respiratory infection and will be seeking medical attention immediately.
The curtains had black mold spores on them, white/grayish mold on the tiles, and the smell was so bad. We were coughing and now left with a respiratory health concern.
We were ground level, so leaving our door open to circulate the air was not an option. I called the front desk several times asking to be moved but told they were at full capacity and didn't really seem to care. They likely did have a room available, but maybe not at the same rate? Money over health, right?
I also understand that this part of Mexico is humid. Mold is a thing.. but you can clearly see from the photos and video that there was work done in this room to cover it up. They didn't deal with the issue. They just 'patched' it to get the next person in there.
I feel bad that the staff are subjected to this health concern and whatever other guests are coming through.
Maybe others don't notice it because everyone is heavily drinking? (We were completely sober this entire trip) Not sure, but it was obvious. Concerning they are putting children in this room.
Staff throughout the resort were amazing, management and front desk not so much.
I will be sharing this information with a number of streams and platforms so people aren't subjected to this.
