⭐️⭐️ Google Review – Grand Sunset Princess (Miami Riviera Cancun / Delta) We arrived two days ago and I want to share our honest experience so far. I’ll start with a few important concerns: 1. Safety issue with lighting: When you walk out of the rooms toward the elevators, many of the lightbulbs are not working. The entire area where the elevators are located is completely dark. It feels very unsafe to walk through a pitch-black hallway, especially in a hotel that was recently renovated. 2. Shower design flaw: The rooms themselves are beautiful, modern, and very clean. However, the shower has no shelf or ledge at all to place a bar of soap, shampoo, or anything. It makes no sense in a renovated room to leave guests without even a small spot to put their toiletries. 3. Restaurant signage: Every à la carte restaurant has no sign or name on the outside. You have no idea which restaurant is which unless you stop and ask. It would be so simple to add the names so guests don’t have to guess. 4. Hospitality could be better: We’ve been to Mexico many times, and usually the friendliness is outstanding. Unfortunately, the staff here hasn’t been as warm or welcoming as expected. 5. Honeymoon experience disappointment: We arrived as newlyweds and mentioned it at check-in. The front desk agent, Victoria, seemed surprised and even asked us to show our marriage certificate—something we obviously don’t carry around since we got married three days ago. It felt unnecessary and a bit disrespectful. No honeymoon acknowledgment or gesture was made, which was disappointing. ⸻ On a positive note: • The rooms are very clean and beautifully renovated. • The resort itself looks nice overall, though there is still a lot of construction happening. • The daytime entertainment, music, and pool games are excellent and do keep you busy. • The renovated areas of the restaurants look great. I will update this review as the week continues, but I hope management reads this and addresses some of these issues. There is potential for a great experience here, but several details need attention. And the beach is disgusting and dirty

Five stars for our server at Snack Sunset, Lorenzo Poot, who made our mornings the best part of our trip. Thank you Lorenzo for your genuine kindness and for always keeping our coffee full -- please give your babies a hug for us! Thank you also to Valeria, also at Snack Sunset, who always greeted us warmly every morning. It was always lovely to talk to you! Another employee that deserves recognition is Bernabe, the shuttle driver. He's so personable and seems to remember every single guest and where their stop is. Pretty sure he is universally loved too because I saw so many guests laughing and joking with him. And one more -- Antonio at the front gate. We had to pick up some medicine and he helped us and kept us company until the delivery could be made. We were extremely grateful for his kindness! In general, I would say the staff were the standout for the trip, and for that I will give 5 stars. Now for some critiques of the resort as a whole: 1. This is my second stay at this resort, and I would say that the menus at the restaurants have become less vegetarian-friendly. Some of the restaurants, such as La Fleur and La Vaqueria, have no vegetarian entrees. There were also a number of times when I tried things at the big buffet or otherwise where I could taste or see meat ingredients in something that was otherwise claimed to be vegetarian (for example, pork in a bean dish, pork or ham in the Spanish tortilla, and the nachos at the sports bar came with meat on them even though the menu didn't mention it). La Volta was the safest bet for me, although the chef at Teppanyaki also did a great job of accommodating my dietary needs. I don't ever remember this being an issue when we visited prior to the renovation, so it was a little disappointing. 2. We had a private plunge pool, which sounded lovely, but the reality was that the filters were not turned on for the first few days. On day three or so we realized something was wrong because the pool was so cloudy and dirty, and we requested someone come to fix and clean it. The maintenance guy came and confirmed that the pool (and the other pools around it) had been turned off and were not filtering, but that he had turned it on. The water became clearer with the filter working but the pool itself was still very dirty from having the filter off. We again requested that the pool be cleaned and were told someone would see to it right away but the reality is that it wasn't cleaned until day 7 of our trip. Shortly after that we realized the filters had been turned off again and we simply gave up on the plunge pool. Luckily there are other pools and the ocean nearby, but I know this could have been a bad situation for someone else. 3. There was an initial mix-up with our room, but we consider that to have been resolved to our satisfaction by the manager. Thank you!

Renovated rooms were great! Some areas still closed due to renovations but resort still functions. Only thing I would mention is quality of drinks needs improvement 5 star is 5 star. Pushing platinum to get standard bar rail drinks vs cheap alcohol for regular all inclusive is a poor choice to save a few cents.

Just spent a week at this hotel, and I must say it’s beautiful! The evening staff at the buffet were lovely, I sat in the same section every night because my waitress was an absolute joy to be around. The place was clean with lots of wildlife around which I thought was great. There was a taxi driver that was assigned to us by the hotel who was pretty rude though but I don’t think that’s the hotels fault. The only issue I really had was the beach left a little to be desired, it was often covered in seaweed and the water was so murky so I definetly wouldn’t choose this resort for the beach. The shops are great and buffets were always great. A gentlemen named Rodolfo set us up for a couple of dinners in the resteraunt which was incredible and the wait staff were really great. The pools are nice and kept warm but still refreshing temperature wise. There’s signs on the patio doors that say keep locked which I strongly advise because we walked in to a raccoon in our room trying to steal the coffee. (it was harmless and we thought it was funny but the mess of the coffee wasn’t fun to clean, and it dumped my purse and stole 2 packs of gum lol) The shows every night were nice to go to after dinner, the fire and drums was my favorite- they were all incredibly talented and put on a great show. There’s a handful of cats that live on the resort, and it made me really happy to see that the workers put food and water out for them and took care of them because some places I’ve been don’t do that and treat them as a nuisance. Overall we had a really great stay and I can definetly say I recommend it!

I recently stayed at the Grand Riviera Princess Hotel Resort in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, with 20 of my closest friends to celebrate milestone birthdays together. While our stay had its highlights, there were also some significant drawbacks. Positives: First and foremost, the hotel was exceptionally clean, and the landscapes and gardens were gorgeous and picturesque. We also loved the presence of wildlife, such as deer, wandering around the gardens, which added a unique charm to the experience. The food was phenomenal—truly five-star quality at both the buffets and the a la carte restaurants. The staff were also very friendly and welcoming, which made a big difference in our overall experience. Negatives: On the other hand, the hotel struggled to accommodate large groups. As a group of 20, we faced significant challenges. For instance, despite booking months in advance, half of our group ended up in the older sections of the hotel while the other half stayed in newly renovated rooms. This caused a bit of inconvenience and disappointment, as we couldn’t all stay together as planned. Additionally, there was a noticeable upselling approach by the management. For example, when we requested to dine together as a large group, we were told we could only be seated together if we purchased additional items like lobster or champagne. This felt more like extortion rather than a genuine service. It was disappointing that the hotel prioritized upselling over guest convenience. Moreover, many services and activities were overpriced, such as water skiing, which cost $100 for just 30 minutes, and even the ATM fees were exorbitant, charging $75 for a withdrawal. In conclusion, while the Grand Riviera Princess offers beautiful landscapes, excellent food, and friendly staff, it may not be the best choice for large groups due to logistical challenges and the heavy emphasis on upselling. I’d recommend it for couples, but if you’re planning a group vacation, it might be best to consider other options.
