Great resort the pools and drinks are great lots of entertainment. The staff here are great at making you feel relaxed. the grounds are well kept and beautiful.if you have anything that you need, the concierge will try his best to make that happen. Our room is very spacious and very clean. Housekeeping does a superb job at making your room up lots of different food options we really like the buffet in the morning and for lunch, the staff in that area are quick to ask if you need anything and keep everything clean and the buffet is constantly stocked with fresh food and fruit we have really enjoyed our stay here

The behind the scenes staff, including room service and ground facilities personnel, bar tenders, etc go above and beyond to ensure the best possible experience. While the hotel may hold a five-star rating, the overall service, food quality, cleanliness, and overall ambiance fall short of what I had anticipated, reflecting a more experience to a high end three-star establishment. Considering the rates I was charged, I had genuinely expected a higher level of service and amenities. I sincerely hope the management takes proactive steps to address these inconsistencies, as the potential for improvement is there…but it remains unfulfilled at the moment with our specific stay.

I recently stayed at this hotel for six days, and unfortunately, my experience was very disappointing. Upon first entering my room, I immediately noticed how dated everything felt, from the sheets and furniture to the bathroom fixtures. The tub was dirty, and overall the room did not feel well maintained. The food was one of the biggest letdowns. The buffet options were poor, and unless you arrived right at opening, the food was left sitting out and became stale or hard. The specialty restaurants were slightly better, but reservations were required and even then the meals were underwhelming. I often left still feeling hungry. Customer service was also frustrating. After checking out, I realized I had left an item behind that had a tracker on it. I called the hotel every day for four days, often waiting on hold for over an hour. Not only was there no resolution, but on several occasions staff members hung up on me, which was extremely unprofessional. Overall, I cannot recommend this resort. Between the outdated rooms, poor food quality, and lack of responsiveness from staff, this was far from the relaxing and enjoyable experience I had hoped for. For anyone considering a stay in Playa del Carmen, I would strongly suggest exploring other options.

So disappointing! When you book for the Grand Sunset Princess they don’t tell you that the Sunset side of the resort is close and they automatically send you on the riviera side. I just go here today and when I pay for a 5*, I’m expecting 5* room. Instead I’m back in 1995 with the worst amenities you could expect for a 5*. My first plan was to book at the Yucatan Platinum. (Same group) but I decided to trust the Sunset. Both Hotels were at the same price (+\- 50$) when I booked (both swim out) and now they want to charge me 550$CAD to move into a regular room at the Yucatan. This is unbelievable! I wouldn’t mind switching for free into a regular room at the Yucatan but charging me 550$ and removing the swim out is a steal. Don’t get me wrong the employee at the reception was doing his best and I greatly appreciate but The Princess group should be ashamed to class The Riviera a 5* I can’t even believe that I have to spend a week here! Look at the picture and tell me it look like the room on their website I would appreciate someone to contact me with solution to resolve my issue. Thank you

We just stayed four nights and felt we were in heaven. The beach was gorgeous. They did a good job of regularly removing the seaweed so it did not bother us. The beach was pristine. I appreciated seeing a life guard climb down from the tower and swim out in the water to retrieve a piece of floating trash he spotted. We enjoyed activities like free paddle boards, included drinks and appreciated the life guards. We had a fun time doing jet skis, parasailing and snorkeling. The hotel was a tad dated but absolutely spotless. Everyone working there was always going above and beyond to meet our every need. The waiters and other staff were always so helpful. We felt spoiled. We enjoyed watching the wild life. The deer were so peaceful. The mischievous little coatis (although I’m sure a constant pest to the hotel) were so cute! Just be sure to watch your snacks! The food was beautifully served and presentation was amazing. The fine dining was lovely with amazing service. However the food was quite bland. Salt is your friend. We got a deal because the hotel is under construction. Other than some areas blocked off with green tarps we didn’t even notice it. No excessive noise or dust and there were no activities or areas closed down that we wanted use. We had a lovely time and hope to go back again!
