Amazing resort!! Fantastic staff all around!! The activity staff at the pool was incredible, funny and so personable. Awesome entertainment and live music. Shout out to Kendall, Sexy Jewels, Alexander and the DJ for making our vacation super fun and one we will never forget!! Our room was kept very clean and the food delicious. We would definitely go again. Thank you staff for all your hard work and amazing talent!! 😊 🎉

We loved Ocean Maya Royale, leaving today after being here for 6 days. The staff were so friendly - shout out to the Blue team - Adela was the sweetest and so attentive. She was courteous and welcomed us and provided great customer service. They had fun games and entertainment and really got to know the guests. All the bartenders were also amazing and remembered all of our drinks. All the restaurant staff provided excellent customer service. We were so happy and would definitely return!

My partner and I had a lovely stay at Ocean Maya. It far exceeded our expectations. Very friendly and accommodating staff, nice clean and well appointed room, beautifully manicured grounds with wildlife, and great pool and beach just a few minutes from our room. Gay friendly as well and lots of Canadians here. The food was also very good (particularly la Hacienda buffet) and El Charro was our favourite restaurant. The entertainment was great as well, particularly Latin night and the Fire Dancers. We will definitely be returning - with our other friends this time! Thank you so much to all the staff for making us feel warm and welcomed.

Pros: The property grounds are beautiful with local nature and wildlife. Rooms are pretty nice, and the pool was big. Overall a reasonable price. Ate all the food and did not get sick.
Cons: The biggest con is the food and drink quality. The food was very mediocre, even at the restaurants that require reservation. None of the meals were impressive, but at least it was unlimited in quantity. And the alcohol seems very much watered down or the bartenders are not doing full pours. You can have multiple drinks back to back and you won’t feel anything. Everyone in our group noticed it. Additionally, if you are a wine drinker, be aware that only those who purchase the additional “privilege” package will have choices of wine. The general room rate will only get you Cabernet Sauvignon and it is a very very low-quality wine, it was so bad I couldn’t drink it. Next biggest complaint was the hospitality. They are friendly but not very accommodating to requests. Entree choices at the restaurants cannot be modified or substituted. They will tell you no and that it comes as-is. They would groan when our group of 7 asked for a table together (since most of the table setups were suited for couples and they didn’t want to push tables together for some reason). The resort is definitely geared toward partying and party music. They constantly have someone yelling on the pool microphone. If you’re looking for calm relaxing vacation, this is not the right place for you. Lastly, the hot water in the room frequently went out, so I had to take a couple cold showers. And The language barrier between myself and the hotel employees made things difficult. I thought more of them would know English but most only knew a few words and phrases so asking them questions or making special requests usually went nowhere.

This is my second time doing an all inclusive resort and I have to say this resort has set my standards high for where I go next. When you arrive they have someone welcome you as a group and take you to your room by a golf cart. Love that the door key is a bracelet so you don’t lose it. Staff make sure your room and the entire resort is kept clean. There was never a long wait for food or drinks. They also made sure my friends had gluten free food everywhere we went. The entertainment team absolutely killed it and were always motivating the crowd to get involved in activities. Special shout out to Kendall for putting in the effort to get to know our group and making our trip memorable. Kendall is really the star of the resort and knows how to bring out the best in people. He honestly deserves a round of applause for the work he puts in. The wild life there is sooooo stunning and I loved that everyone was respecting the space of the wild animals. I like how close the beach and pool are so you can hop from one to the other. I know they get a lot of seaweed but they make the effort to clean it out multiple times in the day. I understand why people keep coming back! ☺️💖
