⭐☆☆☆☆ Honeymoon Disappointment – Truly Heartbreaking Experience My wife and I absolutely love Mexico and have spent the last five years visiting various resorts, both big and small. We’ve always praised the country for its warmth, hospitality, and top-tier customer service—which is why we chose it without hesitation for our honeymoon in November 2024. Unfortunately, this trip was a huge letdown and has left us questioning whether we’ll return to Mexico at all, which is heartbreaking given how much we love it. We booked this luxury resort and even paid for the upgraded swim-out room expecting a special experience, especially for such a meaningful occasion. But from the moment we arrived, the customer service was practically nonexistent. No one seemed to acknowledge or care that we were celebrating our honeymoon, and the attentiveness we’re used to in Mexico was completely missing. To make matters worse, we were turned away from dining at the Japanese restaurant simply because we were walk-ins—even though we were guests and it wasn’t fully booked. We were instead seated at the sushi bar and told we could only order sushi. No effort was made to accommodate us or make the moment feel special. We’ve never left a negative review about a resort in Mexico before—never had a reason to. But this experience was so far below what we’ve come to expect and love about traveling here that it genuinely shook us. It felt cold, impersonal, and far from the honeymoon trip we had been dreaming of.

Stayed a week in March. Had some cash go missing; the safe wouldn't close the first 48 hours but got it working the 3rd day, but it was one or two bills so I could have accidentally dropped them somewhere too. Didn't want to make a big deal about it, but wanted to report it just in case there were other instances of similar issues with anyone who had access to our room. Staff came to the room to "take a report" but ended up literally tossing the room (the whole nine yards.... dumping bags out onto the bed, dumping out clothes from the dresser, and having us empty all our pockets) but I actually do understand this since we were reporting missing property and they want to make sure its really gone. The frustration starts to come in where the concierge taking the report and translating it to spanish for the security team was not actually translating what I was saying. I'm fluent enough to follow along (I would say "I could not get the safe to lock when I tried" and she would translate to security "He decided to not lock the safe"). After tossing the room and taking the report, they said they would work on a final report. Again, not wanting this to be a big deal we were hoping it was just behind us. Unfortunately, as we were checking out they called us over and let us know they had checked the cameras and point blank called us liars. Said "We determined that the report you gave was not accurate or truthful". They said the evidence they had was that they had watched the camera footage and determined that no staff was ever in our room when we were not also present in the room. I guess all those times we went to breakfast and our bed got made while we were gone was magic. Clearly security was just trying to cover the resort legally, they could pull the report and defer blame if a legal claim ever came of it. Then, hilariously, when we sat back down to wait for a shuttle one of the other staff members had to come up and try to sell us a package for future visit. Politely declined that, and the whole thing left a bad taste in our mouths. Other than that, the resort and the rooms were quite nice. We still enjoyed our time there despite the issue above. Lunch/Dinner maybe left a little to be desired on some nights, but was usually good and the breakfast buffet was excellent. We won't be returning because of the security fiasco, but as long as you get the safe working immediately (call maintenance and don't leave the room until they fix it) then you should have a good stay.

ALL AROUND 5 STARS!!! Unico is the definition of luxury. We went here for our honeymoon and the ONLY thing I would change, was staying longer. The room service food was SO GOOD!!! It was just as good of quality as the actual restaurants on the resort. You had a tablet in your room you could order from with pictures of the food. The restaurants were AMAZING, I’m super picky about the quality of food I eat and I have 0 complaints. Our concierge Mendoza was FANTASTIC. He checked in us every day and helped us book our excursions. The house keeping and all of the bartenders and wait staff are SO NICE and my husband made friends with all the bartenders on our trip. He misses Jonathan and Mr Anderson from the pool bar. The spa was very clean and professional. We had a couples massage, facials, and used their saunas/pools. It was very relaxing and very clean. The pool was amazing, they have a pool party daily where they play great music. The swim up bar was our favorite spot. They also have bathrooms by the pool and they were very clean. It says a lot when the bathrooms by the pool are kept so clean, the entire resort is so awesome. I would live there if I could and we are already talking about going back. If you are looking for an adult only LUXURY resort with top quality food, this is your place!!! Just be aware, when you go home it’s depressing to leave!!! THIS WAS PARADISE!!!

Amazing food, the Italian restaurant was the best. We really enjoyed our stay there, there were lots of food offerings that were delicious and many activities to do. We got the ocean front hotel room and it was worth it. We asked to be on the fourth floor and that made our trip even better by seeing the ocean. There will be high pressure sales and they will try to use a credit system between massages, spa treatments, outings, golf, whatever they can get you to sit through an hour and a half long presentation. It’s an extremely high pressure sales event where they have several closers. We opted to not do this because we were on vacation, but other people were able to get up to $2200 worth of credits if they sat through the presentation remember this is high-pressure so they know and they have all answers to every single objection you might have Other than that. It was a really good vacation. We spent a lot of time at the pool in the quiet side, but then also joined some of their fun activities at the center pools. I would recommend.

Alright, full honest review. This resort was stunning! Extremely aesthetically pleasing. Our room was so nicely & appreciatively upgraded to a suite & we throughly enjoyed the room. The staff were all sweethearts, very helpful, and always happy. Our dedicated José, treated us with exceptional care. The Vacation Makers staff were so lovely and helpful. The beach had seaweed overwhelming it so we could not make use of it during the day, but at night 🥹, you can get the most beautiful midnight photos & the sea turtles graced us with their presence as they laid their eggs on the sand. So definitely make use of the beach at night. The only 2 issues we had with this resort was: Firstly, The food. This is huge for my husband & I especially for all-inclusive resorts. The food was a 5/10 for us & we finally had decent food at the Japanese restaurant on the last night of our stay (so upset we didn’t get to it sooner). The second issue we had was the location. It’s about an hour away from the Cancun airport, & coming in from a long flight, we would’ve Loved having the resort close by to settle in sooner than later. Other than that, this resort is lovely. Definitely a great place to relax and have much needed quiet time. Would love to try their other hotels they are partnered with in the future.
