Barceló Maya Riviera exceeded our expectations and made for an unforgettable adults-only, all-inclusive getaway. The resort itself is beautiful—modern, clean, and relaxing—but what truly made the experience exceptional was the staff. Carlos and Roger, the poolside bartenders, were absolute highlights of our trip. They were not only fast and friendly, but genuinely attentive and fun to talk to. Carlos somehow always remembered our drink preferences, and one morning he surprised us by adding Baileys to our cold coffee, which instantly became a daily favorite. Roger made some of the best beachside drinks we’ve ever had, including a fresh coconut tequila drink right by the beach that felt like the definition of vacation. Both of them went out of their way to make sure we were taken care of, even when the pool area was busy. Damien, our cafeteria waiter, was equally fantastic. He was consistently kind, professional, and incredibly attentive without being intrusive. He made every breakfast and meal feel relaxed and welcoming, checking in just the right amount and always making sure we had everything we needed. Overall, the service across the resort was top-notch, but these three truly stood out and made our stay feel personal and special. If you’re looking for a relaxing adults-only resort with amazing service, great drinks, and staff who genuinely care about your experience, Barceló Maya Riviera is absolutely worth it. We can’t wait to come back.

When at Barcelo Maya Riviera and dining at the La Comedie, ask for Bertha, and Victor, great service, fabulous smile and super kind. The hotel room is nice. The views in oceans rooms are fantastic. All of the staff has been wonderful. We came for a specific event (GJWW) and the hospitality from kitchen to housekeeping was better than expected.

Our dinner at Le Comedie was fantastic. Our servers Bertha and Victor were awesome. Some of the best good we've enjoyed so far. So much flavour. Will definitely make reservations to come again on our next visit

We stayed at the Barcelo Maya Riviera adults only jan 21 - 28 2026. First off the hotel is newer and is located in La gloria on the maya riveria and is spotless. THE GOOD This place is the cleanest resort we have ever been too, very impressed. I will try to summarize the different areas so not too be long winded Rooms - super clean 10/10 General resort - super clean 10/10 Beach - wow, tons of chairs, never a problem getting one, and its huge. Sea weed is cleaned cosnstantly by machine and the whole beach area is pristine ( just loved it ) BUT BRING WATER SHOES , its has some rockey areas 10/10. It seems like a huge resort in the pictures but a very short walk gets you anywhere in no time. Pool bars - good drinks, friendly staff. Pool- HUGE and spotless as was the entire complex. Loby bar - same but its enclosed. It would be better as an open air bar. Alacart restaurants. Food was good and hot. IMPROVEMENT NEEDED Buffet- food was good as was the selection but was not very hot for the most part. Entertainment. Absolutely nothing between 6 and 9:30 pm. Needs to have something in the lobby to give guests a reason to gather and mingle. ( Every resort we have been too in the past has had some sort of action / entertainment in the lobby..not this one. At 9:30pm there was some sort if live entertainment but ,we'll not very good. The resort is connected to other Barcelo resorts but they need an info booth in the lobby were guests can get info on events at the other ones. That communication was poor at best. They had tv screens with info but hard to decifer. Bottom line If your looking for a vacation to relax in a quiet private adults only atmosphere, enjoy the beach / pool this is probably for you, but if your looking for a place that keeps you busy and entertained after the day at the beach, well this may not check off that box. Don't get me wrong, we did enjoy ourselves but were bored in the evening. This is advertised as a 5 star resort but the lack of entertainment, warm Buffet food and activity communication spoils this rating I'm my opinion.

Our experience at Restaurant Agave with Jose Lima, Felipe Solis and Cristian Delgado at the taco bar was our favourite meal of the trip. We even went twice! The had excellent attentive and personalized service and made us feel so welcomed. Best meal of the trip. We would recommend coming to the taco bar when visiting Barcelo Maya Rivera AO.
