The only good thing about this place is the location. I paid almost $600 a night. The room was dirty. Stains on ceiling. Stains on the floor. Stains on the bedsheets. The pillows were so flimsy and gross, I ended up using the pillows from the other bed (got two beds) and it still wasn’t enough. The bed felt like a water bed but it wasn’t. It was squishy in some spots and firm in others. It looked like the rooms haven’t been updated since the 90s and cleaned since the early 2000s. For almost $600 a night I expect AT LEAST clean sheets. I slept on the comforter in My clothes. Disgusting. The shower also would only do either arctic tundra cold or pits of hell hot. There was so happy medium. Also there was mold in the grout in the shower. I always bring My own soap, but I usually wash My hands when I first get in with whatever hotels body wash soap. It was empty. Also I could feel water trapped under the tub. Disgusting disgusting disgusting. It felt like I was at a motel 6. Gross.

Arriving at the hotel after midnight, having called early evening to reconfirm our rooms and inform the hotel of our late arrival due to a delayed flight, we were kept waiting for over an hour due to 'an issue'. The issue turned out to be that our rooms were not available. The night manager was extremely rude, did not apologize and told me i should be grateful that he was willing to help me out with two king rooms for 7 people. I had to book a room at another property at three times the nightly rate to sleep two of our party, and deal with very upset and tired children. Eventually around 2am we were able to access the two king rooms for 5 people. They were unrenovated rooms (we had booked renovated rooms) with aircon not functioning, and it made for a very uncomfortable night. The next morning a very apologetic staff member assisted us in getting access to the rooms we had booked but we had to vacate the room for 4 hours until the rooms were available. With little compensation offered this was an extremely stressful, expensive and negative experience. I had read the reviews and understood the hotel was under renovation and the stay may not be smooth but I never expected to arrive to deal with that. Once in the rooms we had booked they were fine and I would have had no complaints. Multiple families were checking in at the same time as us and were experiencing the same issue. So be warned if you are arriving very late!

review This is the first time I have experienced service so bad that I’ve felt the need to write a review about it. When we got to the hotel, we weren't able to get to our rooms at that moment but the receptionist had me pay in full ($600) and would let us know when the room was ready; I swiped my card, it approved, and I went on my way. We ended up going back and asking about our rooms 2 hours later, and it was ready. The receptionist, Guillermo, told us to pay on the pin pad, and it said $400 on the screen. We asked him why we were being charged more money since we had already paid $600, and he told me the payment "wasn't authorized", I asked him what he meant by that and he printed off a statement saying I had paid $200, and had a balance of $350 + $50 deposit remaining. I explained to him that I had already paid the whole amount, but he insisted that it wasn’t authorized and that’s why I needed to pay the $400. I even showed him my bank app and the $600 transaction but all he bothered to tell me that once again, it “wasn’t authorized”. Meanwhile, the original receptionist that we spoke to watched this interaction happen and did not bother to step in to confirm we already paid. We eventually gave in and paid the $400 because Guillermo, was not helping or explaining this at all. I went to another receptionist at the desk, Josephine, who I have a lot more positive things to say about, and explained my situation. At first she said the same thing about the remaining balance, but I told her I already paid $600, she looked at her screen and realized the issue. She said she didn’t know how this happened and called Guillermo over. Before she could even get a word in, he immediately got defensive and started yelling about how he explained it to us. She asked him why he charged us $400 and he yelled “I DIDN’T DO IT THE MACHINE DID”. He didn’t seem to care at all that he essentially charged me $1000. Josephine was so helpful and polite, she tried coming up with solutions for me and told me she could close my bill and all extra charges could be dropped. I still haven’t seen the money go back into my account as I’m writing this, as all transactions are still pending and no money has made its way back into my account. On top of all of this, my room had no air conditioning, the thermostat would not turn on at all. The floor of our shower was stained, and my mom found what looked like mold in the bathroom of her room. She also tried calling the front desk with a question, but was hung up on before she could even say hello. Housekeeping was polite but invasive, I was taking a nap and heard them knock, I ignored it because of how tired I was, and eventually I heard my door open. If I didn’t put the lock on it they could have just walked in as I was sleeping. This was shortly after we checked in too so there was absolutely 0 reason to have housekeeping come in. I’m glad to be free from this place and will never be coming back. Management responds to these reviews about how they will do better but it’s very clear you guys have learned absolutely nothing.

I honestly don’t even know where to start: this hotel was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had. Like many other reviews have said, it looks absolutely nothing like the photos. The place is old, smelly, and depressing. If you’ve ever seen the movie 1408, you’ll know exactly what I mean. Our first room was dirty and run down. I could live with the fact it was old, but the moment something gross came up through the bathtub (most likely from the room next door), that was it. We went to the front desk, and they moved us to a smaller room. But instead of being better, it was even worse: the AC was so loud we couldn’t sleep, one of the drawers was completely missing, the only one left was broken, and the bathtub didn’t drain properly. We complained again, and they admitted that many guests had the same issues. They told us it would take time to send someone to check the AC, and that maybe they could change our room the following morning. After a long flight, we were too exhausted to keep pushing, so we just dealt with it. But honestly, I’m sure they had other available rooms. The front desk staff were okay, nothing great, but the concierge was on another level of disappointing. When we checked out, we left our bags with them and asked if there was any charge. They said no, just tips. I get how tipping works. we’ve tipped everywhere on this trip but if you give good service, people want to tip you. You don’t need to beg for it. We even told the guy (Alex) that we didn’t have cash at the time, but we’d leave a tip with the front desk later for him. He seemed fine with that. But when we came back to collect our bags, the staff literally said behind our backs, “Alex said they were going to give us tips.” I was standing right there and heard it. That moment sealed it for me — I decided not to tip any of them. If you’re going to treat guests like that, consider it the bare minimum of your job. Honestly, I should’ve been asking for a refund instead. They’re apparently renovating to become a Crowne Plaza, but if they keep the same staff and attitude, don’t bother. Just stay far away from this place. If there was a zero star, that would be my genuine rating.

AVOID AT ALL COST!!! I'm lost for words to describe my experience at Manhattan Time Square hotel. I arrived with my son at the hotel in early hours of yesterday 7/10/25. I had notified the hotel of my arrival time and had a pleasant communication with them and was feeling quite happy at staying at the Manhattan Time Square. BOY I WAS SO WRONG !!! Arriving at reception at 12:10 am. I was checked in by a very unpleasant and stressful employee. No hello or smile. I was charged a room service and told I would receive my room key shortly which was a lie. (Maybe if he had been honest in the first place about the hotel being over booked people would have been more understanding) I found this strange as normally you are issued your room key straight away. I was then made aware by 4 other people that they were also waiting to be allocated a room. After 40 minutes I asked to use the restroom and was told the only restroom were in the hotel room and as I wasn't allocated one as yet I would have to wait!! This I found unbelievable! I look forward to your response on this. After one and half hours I was allocated a room by the so called Manager who I my opinion should not be in the position as he didn't know if he was coming or going! We were not allocated the room I had booked. I was told don't unpack we will allocate you a new room tomorrow. The room that we were allocated had not been cleaned. There were all hairs around the shower plug. I have pictures if required. This is totally unsatisfactory. It's seems to be that I was not the only person to have experienced this speaking to other guest in the hotel. I hope helps anyone thinking of booking. zMy only advise is DoN'T
