Hotel Alameda completely failed to honor our confirmed reservation and disrupted what was supposed to be a special Valentines weekend trip. We booked this hotel specifically for its location in Chelsea, within walking distance of our venue and activities. On the day of arrival, we were informed that the hotel had overbooked and could no longer accommodate us. Instead, we were involuntarily relocated to a Holiday Inn in Times Square—an entirely different area that forced us to change our plans and significantly increased travel time and inconvenience. In addition, the room we received at Holiday Inn came with two double beds, not the King bed that we had booked at Alameda. What makes this worse is that this was not a last-minute emergency—it was the result of overbooking, which is a deliberate business practice. A confirmed reservation should mean something. Instead, Hotel Alameda treated our booking as disposable. Their apology email acknowledged they were “unable to accommodate” us, but words alone do not make up for the disruption, stress, and loss of convenience. We chose this hotel for its location, and that is exactly what they failed to deliver. This experience showed a complete lack of reliability and respect for guests’ reservations. If you book here, understand that your confirmed reservation does not guarantee you’ll actually stay here. I would not trust Hotel Alameda again and would strongly recommend others book elsewhere if location certainty matters to them.

Hotel Alameda is a stylish Chelsea gem! Rooms are modern and comfy (great beds, nice design, good amenities), though compact like most NYC spots. Service was friendly—staff helpful with check-in and recommendations. Location is solid: steps from the High Line, Chelsea galleries, trendy eats, and easy subway access. Rooftop bar views are a nice bonus! Great value for a chic, artistic stay.

Great value hotel if you get a normal rate (I stayed midweek) Bathroom and shower are huge, although the regular room would be tight for people travelling with a lot of bags. But very comfy bed (it’s not that low as some reviews talk about, I went in fearing a mattress on the floor but it’s very much a bed haha) Big mirror in the room and very cool decor. Bar is incredibly expensive for drinks tho compared to happy hours or anything else in the area. Location is perfect and staff all very helpful.

Amazing courteous friendly and generous staff. Always greeted and feeling safe, security at late hours and a central location make this place a pretty sweet stay! Deluxe room was good but a bit small, not a lot of surface area or storage and an unconventional ground level bed were a bit awkward to work around but overall comfortable. Shower was very comfortable and kinda cool with they way temp makes the glass opaque so your other half can kinda see ya kinda not while you’re showering but that bathroom can almost be seen into directly from the bed which was not advertised in all the talk of luxury and comfort. Our large window had a security camera right outside it that could definitely see into our room - we are two men who don’t care as much for privacy but others might between the bathroom and security camera so head’s up it’s possible you might end up there if you choose a deluxe room like we did. Otherwise gratitude to the wonderful staff, Veronica, Ozge, and one other woman who helped us check in on Friday last. Cheers all, and thank you for your hard work and hospitality! 😁

It's affordable, it's not too far from a station, solid location relative to the rest of the island. I was a little worried after all the mixed reviews, but I booked Hotel Alameda on a time crunch based on location, price, and availability. This hotel is DEFINITELY not worthy of the 4-star designation, but it's quirkiness and minimalistness is in line with a boutique hotel. The details are definitely rough around the edges with some light buttons not working, odd locations of lamps or towel/clothes hooks, tiny TV that had super spotty coax connection, and a shower that is not entirely private. Luckily I didn't have any interruptions in the evenings, but the walls are a little thin. At the end of the day, it's a clean enough spot to sleep, shit, shower, and shave. Even though it's close to Hudson Yard, Vessel, Highline, and Javits; there didn't seem like too much going on in the area in the evenings. As a single man walking during the winter, I never felt uncomfortable or unsafe either. The minimal conversations and contacts I needed with staff were friendly and helpful.
