Think Twice Before Booking The Hideaway at Royalton St Lucia (Marriott) If you're considering the premium "Hideaway" upgrade for a true adults-only, luxury experience, prepare to be severely disappointed. This resort, currently managed as a Marriott, fell far short of a relaxing and beautiful vacation, and the added cost for the upgrade is absolutely not worth it. The "Adults-Only" Lie The biggest frustration was paying extra for the adults-only Hideaway section, only to find the lines blurred and the exclusivity non existent: * The adults-only beach area is laughably separated by only a simple rope and is consistently infiltrated by children, with no staff enforcing the boundary. * The promised "exclusive" area consists of only one tiny adults-only pool. Most amenities feel mixed with the main family-friendly resort. Do not pay the upgrade fee expecting a secluded or exclusive experience. Subpar Service and Basic Amenities Missing The service across the resort was unacceptable and led to constant frustration: * Room Service: Despite being advertised as 24/7 all-inclusive, Room Service repeatedly failed to answer the phone. * Basic Amenities Missing: We went three days without hand soap for the sink, despite asking daily. We were forced to use body wash. To make matters worse, we begged for hand towels for two straight days and were continually told they were "on the way” they never arrived. Even after our room was cleaned, the empty body wash dispenser was not refilled. * Food & Dining: The food was subpar at best. Scheduled dining options, like the jerk chicken food truck, were often closed when they were clearly supposed to be open. This resort was incredibly disappointing and actively detracted from what we hoped would be a relaxing, beautiful getaway. Save your money and look elsewhere for a truly premium, adults only experience

Unfortunately, this was the most disappointing all-inclusive stay I’ve ever experienced. From repeatedly placing room service orders that never showed up, to waiting over 5 hours (and making multiple calls) for a basic maintenance request, it felt like service was consistently falling short. Even simple things like finding pool towels became a daily challenge. The dinner reservation system was another letdown — the app would show everything as fully booked, yet when we walked in, the restaurant was nearly empty. On several occasions, we genuinely felt like we were inconveniencing the staff just by asking for basic needs. Food-wise, I’d give it a 3 out of 10 at best, and that’s when menu items were actually available. And the extra charge for the “adults-only” side? Definitely not worth it. There’s little separation from the family side, and most of the amenities and activities are actually over there anyway — which creates even more confusion and walking back and forth. Overall, this experience missed the mark in too many ways to justify the price or the expectations set by the resort.

Far From Paradise: Everyone’s Experience Isn’t the Same I truly wanted to echo the glowing reviews here, but unfortunately, my experience at The Hideaway was the opposite of what’s being described. While some guests may have had a pleasant stay, mine fell far short of Marriott Autograph’s standards and left me questioning whether I’d ever return to St. Lucia. The “Adults-Only” Misrepresentation The Hideaway is marketed as a private, adults-only retreat, but that claim simply doesn’t hold up. The “exclusive” beach is separated from the family resort by a single rope that children frequently cross, and staff make no effort to enforce it. Outside of the one pool, which all guests can utilize, there’s virtually no distinction between the Hideaway section and the main resort. To make matters worse, the Hideaway bar was only open one out of the four days during my stay, so guests were still left walking to the main bars for drinks. Beach towels are another frustration; they seem to come at a premium since the resort constantly runs out of them, so be sure to grab yours early. Service and Room Conditions That Missed the Mark Service throughout the stay was inconsistent and often discouraging. Several staff members seemed inconvenienced by basic questions or requests, and the “24/7” room service was unreliable — our confirmed order never arrived and calls often went unanswered. Despite repeated requests, we went for days without washcloths, hand towels, or even hand soap. Even after housekeeping visits, essentials were not replenished, and the floors remained visibly dirty. Our room also had a strong mildew odor when we first arrived, though it improved after airing out. We even encountered a small gecko inside, which may not bother everyone but isn’t ideal. The one positive was that the A/C and ceiling fan worked extremely well, providing much-needed relief from the heat and humidity. Food & Beverage Quality The food and drinks were underwhelming and inconsistent. Many scheduled dining options — including the jerk chicken truck — were closed during posted hours, and drinks lacked both flavor and presentation. As for the “top-shelf” availability, temper your expectations; the offerings were far from premium, but I would somewhat expect that, at an all-inclusive. Perspective Matters While some guests may have had a smooth visit, not all stays are equal. When multiple travelers report similar issues — from poor service to cleanliness concerns — it signals inconsistency in management and training, not unrealistic expectations. No one is expecting a $15K experience from a $5K resort, but Autograph Collection hotels carry a certain standard of excellence that simply wasn’t met here. Final Thoughts This property has potential, but the execution falls far short of what one would expect from a Marriott Autograph resort. For a destination marketed as exclusive and elevated, the experience was anything but. I sincerely hope management takes these concerns seriously — because guests shouldn’t have to lower their expectations to justify subpar service. For the price and the brand name, The Hideaway at Royalton St. Lucia was a major letdown. Save your money and your patience — there are far better options on the island, that are worth saving the money for, that truly deliver on the promise of luxury.

NOT adults only- children are literally within eyesight at all times. Failed to have top shelf liquors despite upgrading to Diamond Club. Entertainment was either nonexistent or lackluster. Failed to fulfill a simple request of a king bed for my honeymoon despite booking 10 months in advance. Food was eh at best. I honestly would never stay at a Royalton Resort ever again. Not worth the money at all. To put it in perspective, I felt like I paid for Ruth’s Chris Tomahawk and ended up with a Chilis 3 for Me.

For this to be a Marriott entity is very disappointing. This is 2nd Royalton where we have had a horrible experience. Just visited Oct 9th to Oct 13th 2025. Customer service was horrible. Everyone had a damn attitude. Diamond club butlers lazy as hell. Didn’t contact us until after 11 am each day. Scores turned off the air everyday to get us out but when “others” were there. The air was on, no problem. Ran out of water Sunday. Ants and geicos in the room. Mildew smells in the room. No sense of urgency took over an hour to get food and orders were wrong. Room service call to confirm food, took 3 hours and order still wrong. Everyone had the runs. Hideaway St Lucia and Montego Bay Jamaica are neck and neck. Marriot need to do an overhaul for training. Best restaurant was the Italian when you finally received the food. Came and conquered don’t ever have to come back.
