The Rio was a pretty cool hotel it featured a decent size casino (which paid better than the others) obviously all luck driven. Anyway hotel rooms were recently renovated and the room we had was massive. Hotel water pressure was great as well. Visited the Voodoo lounge up at the top floor had amazing views of the strip. Drinks were so so. In regards to location if you have a vehicle parking is free. It is a decent distance from the strip, honestly probably have to Uber there and back. Other than that the stay was great.

I reserved a suite for 4 nights. The panaramic views were made up for a lot of short comings. Our room stunk like weed really bad. I complained. I asked for new bedding qnd pillows and they all stunk too. We had to chase down a soap dish. We asked for extra sets of towels and got the weirdest mish mash of towels but never a full set let alone 2 full sets. We like to leave a dairly tip for the housekeeping but they didn't leave a pen and weirdly no one in our group had one so they left more than once without their tip because there was no way of letting them know the cash left out was for them. At least that tells you how honest the housekeeping staff is. Also, you would think a suite I've 1000sq ft would have nice "gimmies" like robes and maybe even some slippers. They didn't and that was a disappointment. They are renovating so I'm not going to complain about how run down some areas were because they are working on that aspect. We would have liked to have more places to sit and visit and maybe have lunch. The fitness room could use some resistance loops and more 5lb weights. Not much in the way of shopping. All that said, the staff was nice and knowledgeable although I wish they had a concierge.

Never, and I repeat NEVER, stay at the Rio. The core problem is the service and the staff. Almost every single person who works here acts like it’s a personal affront to them (and a pain in their ass) to help you with anything at all. We had the bellman tell us that it was “hotel policy to pay a $20 fee in cash to the bellman to use a luggage cart for food-related items” when we wanted to carry some Whole Foods bags with snacks into our room. We paid him, and then later I asked Rita (the AI agent) if this was indeed hotel policy and turns out it was not. We were going to tip the bellman $10 anyways for the help with the luggage cart, but it just feels wrong to be hustled like that. Now, let’s discuss how security forcibly entered our room after we declined cleaning service for 48 hours. There was no warning, or communication about this policy. We have stayed in hotels with this policy before, and usually you receive a note or call from housekeeping letting you know they need to enter the room. What happened at the Rio was two security guards showed and said they needed to enter the room now to “check for damage.” My husband and I are remote workers, and in the middle of our work day, which is why we usually decline cleanings as it’s disruptive to our day. These security guards said they needed to enter right away. My husband told them he needed to speak with the head of security as this felt like a violation of our privacy. The head of security came, and forcibly entered our room and took a quick look around and left. Though he was respectful and kind in his words, I have never, in my life, had any staff from any hotel prevent me from shutting a door by pushing it back open to come and “look around for damages.” It was extremely inappropriate. We travel almost full time and are Hyatt globalists. This is not something that should happen at any hotel, especially a Hyatt property. From the moment we arrived at the Rio the staff have been unhappy and unwelcoming (there were a few very select ones who were nice, but the vast majority were miserable.) The newly renovated rooms are quite nice and the casino area and lobby are fine as well. It’s really the people and treatment of guests here that ruin the experience. Last time we came to Vegas we stayed in the Palazzo and had a 10/10 experience. The staff were all so happy and welcoming. The contrast at the Rio is shocking. From being hustled to having someone enter our room against our will…. You can be sure we will never come back.

I stayed at the Rio 10/15/25 - 10/20/25. Upon checking in, there were 3 front desk attendees helping with the Kiosk check in, and one person helping those who wanted to check in with an employee. We waited in line for nearly an hour. No additional staff was sent out. No apologies made for the incredibly ridiculous wait time. When choosing the hotel, we selected the Rio for the pool. The website had said that they would be open through October. They had decided to close the pools last minute-ly “due to low occupancy” which is a slight towards those paying to stay at the Rio. I had paid an extra $100 for a strip view. When finally checking into the room, they placed us in the wrong room. At this point it was too late and we were exhausted from poor customer service and planned to move rooms the following day. We returned to the customer service desk in the morning, where they placed us in a new room which faced the strip. There were potato chips lining the bed, water marks all over the counter and stains on the mirrors. I will say that the rooms themselves are large and spacious. Upon checking out, I confirmed the amount to be returned to my card after adjusting resort fees and returning the cost for the strip view that we did not get on our first night. Several hours after checking out 10/20/25, a $400 charge was placed on my credit card. Upon contacting the hotel, I was told that it was a charge for smoking in our room. When explaining that no one in the room smoked and does not smoke anything of any kind, the front desk employee explained to me that they have equipment in the rooms that sends an automatic charge when a certain level of smoke is detected. When I explained that there was no smoke in the room whatsoever, she told me that I would need to contact my bank for a dispute and that she will send me the smoke report, which I have yet to receive. The number of inconveniences, poor customer service, and apathy toward my complaints is absolutely abhorrent and unacceptable.

★★★★★ The Rio Is Back and Better Than Ever I’ve been coming to the Rio for over 20 years, and this visit completely blew me away. The remodeled suites are gorgeous, the casino is brighter and more alive than it’s been in years, and the staff couldn’t be friendlier. The food prices are actually reasonable (a rare thing in Vegas), and the whole place just feels happy again. The new lighting on the outside makes the building shine like it used to, and you can tell management really cares. I even got to meet President Patrick Miller and Michelle Engstrom, two people clearly passionate about bringing the Rio back to life. It feels like coming home to an old friend who just had the best makeover ever. If you haven’t been to the Rio lately, go. You’ll fall in love with it all over again. Frederick M.
