The Golden Nugget is the highest energy property in Downtown Las Vegas. If you walk out the back casino doors, you’re literally on Fremont Street. And that is one fun street! Brace yourself for a wild and fun night. You will see everything from people dancing to one of the three live concerts, circus acts, fake showgirls, homeless people telling you their family is connected to the Rothschilds and the family’s cruelty is why their homeless, Michael Jackson dancing (not the real one), people flying over your head on zip lines, and on and on. For the GN itself, awesome pool! This is its #1 and identifying feature. However, you better look good because every person waking by in the hotel lobby will see you. There are also many high-quality food options here. I don’t think I’ve ever been disappointed in the food. And the bartenders are super chill. This likely stems from it being Downtown, and snobby people don’t stay Downtown. Almost all the patrons are middle class. As for the poker room, it’s small and old but the games are uncapped and the staff is friendly. Playing in this poker room has been everything from the most boring game of my life to wild and crazy. I’m not very fond of cash games these days though and much prefer tourneys. I need the rush. Speaking of tournaments, GN made some horrendous personnel decisions for their summer series. The poker community was not happy and GN lost its image as well as tons of business. They also didn’t honor a GTD (guarantee). When you do that, it will take years to win player trust back. I might still play one of their events in the summer (if they still have the series), but I would just be popping in and will no longer plan a trip around it. The GN hotel and casino is great, the poker room is good, and the summer series is going downhill but is salvageable if they make some good personnel decisions.

Love love love this property! We stayed in the Rush tower and I can’t recommend it more. Large renovated rooms, couch area, beautiful remodeled bathroom, and a mini fridge (which. I love). There could have been a few more outlets, but otherwise the room exceeded our expectations! The restaurants were also great! We had a chance to eat at the steak house and appetizers from Chart house. We’ll definitely be going to the noodle house when we come back! Staff was great, friendly and accommodating. You can’t beat the location if you’re looking for a new Vegas adventure on Fremont!

Great location right in the heart of downtown on Fremont Street. Parking is free for hotel guests; otherwise it’s $25 overnight, which is reasonable for the area. The rooms are spread across different buildings. I stayed in the Carson Tower, which is farther from Fremont Street and noticeably quieter — a big plus if you actually want to sleep. The room itself was very spacious, and the bathroom water pressure was extremely strong — almost like a fire hose. Personally, I loved it. Slept very well overall. Check-in and check-out are self-service, but the machines are overly complicated. To make things worse, the check-out kiosk couldn’t recognize my reservation the next morning and kept showing an error, which was frustrating and time-consuming. Good stay overall, but the self-service system definitely needs improvement.

The location in downtown is great. The room we had was very basic and rough around the edges: water dripping inside the window, empty body wash bottle that never got refilled, rusty bathtub. But the room was cheap and the bed was clean and comfortable so I can't complain too much. Happy to have stayed here and put that money towards other parts of our stay.

What a great location on Fremont Street, right in the action!! The rooms we had in the Carson Tower are huge!! No view to get excited about ( unless you like watching cars enter and exit a car park 😀) but pretty standard rooms, nice and quiet, good air con/heating and the bathroom is functional (once you figure out you need to pull OUT the shower mixer to turn it on 😃). The pool was closed (it’s winter ❄️) and work is being completed on the pool deck so we didn’t get a close up look but it does look pretty cool. The Casino is pretty much the same as the others in the area, dominated by slot machines and having to hunt down affordable tables to play. This seems to be a trend. The negative for the Hotel is the check-in, it’s all automated, I couldn’t find another option. There was a staff member there to help navigate it if needed but otherwise I felt on my own. Gone is the traditional welcome, explanation of the Hotel layout and facilities and overall let’s make the guests feel welcome. I assume this is a more efficient and cheaper option for the Hotel, but it has lost that personal touch in my opinion. Would I stay here again? Absolutely!
