Beautiful resort. Lots to do and places to eat. Enjoying the swim out room that gives us a bit of peace to still enjoy the weather and scenery. The food was disappointing though. Most things were surprisingly bland or just poor quality. The sushi restaurant took 20min to get anything. They brought out one person's food, then 2 people's sides, then some of our main dishes, but many of us did not get all we ordered. The long wait and the disatisfying taste and quality of everything made us walk out. Room service was okay. Not really many options like other resorts. The room was decent, but there were constant gnats and flies, like the ones you see where there is a lot of moisture and mildew. There were a few spots like that mostly in the bathroom. The spa was amazing! We walked in and made our appointment and the price was almost 50% less than what was posted. Overall, it was a decent stay, thus the 4 star rating. But because of the food alone, I wouldn't come back here.

Leading up to our trip I started getting worried if we had made the right decision booking with Planet Hollywood. Some of the reviews that were posted that I was reading really had me nervous about the experience we would have. I have to say this was one of the best vacations we have ever had with our family. Yes there were a couple of hiccups along the way but everything was addressed immediately. This was also the first time traveling since we joined the Prime memebership so our expectations were pretty high with not knowing what to expect. After this vacation we have no doubt that we made the right decision signing up and looking forward to so many more up coming vacations. Our butler's Alex and Ramon were absolutely fantastic arranging all dinners, massages on the beach, splatter paint for whole family and fast drivers. They truly made our vacation one to remember. Staff throughout entire resort were wonderful and so polite. As far as food goes you will never go hungry. The breakfast buffet we preferred at the shores as was much quieter and food seemed fresher then at main buffet. Lunch our go to spot was Burger Guys. AMAZIING. We had dinner at all of the restaurants except for the seafood. They were all pretty good. We ate 2 nights at the steakhouse and did notice a difference in the quality between the 2. Our room was spacious and beautiful. Only issue we had was room was very damp. We asked for a dehumidifier and that helped a great deal. I have been to many resorts and only negative thing I would say about Planet Hollywood would be the entertainment. You would expect because its Planet Hollywood that there shows would be top notch. I mean there props and the staff walking around in these amazing costumes but when it came to the shows and lack of involvement was extremely boring and disappointing. This was probably the worst out of all of the resorts I have been too. The club was a nice touch for some people we were traveling with as they enjoyed it very much. There were lots of things to do during the day besides the obvious pool and beach (which there were tones of chairs all over this resort) was first resort we didnt have to be up by 6 or 7am to grab spots. Which was great. They have mini golf, lazy river, basketball/tennis courts, flow rider, trampoline, arcade and the paint splatter. Which was lots of fun. Even though paint does come out it is not as easy as they say. (Men with chest hair highly recommend you wear a tshirt) Overall this resort was amazing and will definitely return.

We have visited RIU Palace four times before trying out Planet Hollywood New Scene Adult with three other couples this year, both located in Playa Mujeres. Check-in at Planet Hollywood was fast, easy, and friendly. Fabian at the concierge in building 13-12 was exceptionally friendly, professional, and helpful, with excellent English skills. He assisted us with restaurant reservations for 8 people every evening during our stay, patiently guiding us through the process and helping with various details that enhanced our comfort and enjoyment. The staff at Planet Hollywood are friendly, polite, helpful, and knowledgeable. The dining experiences varied in quality. The rooms were clean with comfortable beds, and the beach was beautiful and well-maintained. We plan to return and will recommend Planet Hollywood to our family and friends

We went for a wedding between the dates of Oct 22-26 2025. ROOM: Junior Suite with swim out pool in the family section was all we were able to book since the Adult section was full. Very clean and very stylish room. 2 king size beds. Washroom was huge - 2 sinks. Giant vanity mirror with vanity lights. Massive stand up shower with rainfall showerhead. Swim out pool was excellent if you just wanted to keep to yourself and grab a few drinks and head back to your room. FOOD: Just remember to manage your expectations. You are in a foreign country at a hotel resort. Don't expect Michelin star food or restaurants. That being said - the buffet restaurant was tolerable. You could definitely get some decent eats there, but not everything looked appetizing. Breakfast buffet is pretty good and there is a coffee shop across from the buffet and their coffee is excellent 👌🏻!! THE RESTAURANT RESERVATIONS: If you don't book all of your restaurants at the start of your trip, you'll find it difficult to book on the fly. You're lucky if you even get a booking. We didn't seem too filled with urgency to book our reservations and lucked out by only being able to book the Italian one for a large group. We also tried the Mexican restaurant and the food was HORRIBLE. The Italian restaurant was DELICIOUS! THE STAFF: Most of the staff are generally very helpful. We had no issues. ENTERTAINMENT: They have nightly entertainment at the resort. The performances were mediocre at best but they might be someone else's cup of tea. They weren't mine. The disco was fun for what it's worth. Great if you are in your 20's or 30's. The alcohol is very watered down there (as all resorts mainly are). If you want to get a buzz on, you're better off asking for a double or just doing straight liquor shots. OVERALL RESORT LAYOUT: The resort is not a hotel zone resort and it's considered a MEGA RESORT which means it's absolutely ENORMOUS. So, depending on where your room is, you could be doing A LOT of walking to get to the buffet, and restaurants. My feet were killing me all the time. Our room was pretty far from the main area. POOLSIDE AREA: Get there early to book your poolside chair. It gets packed very fast. Overall rating: 8/10

My review of my stay Oct 5-12, 2025 Adult Scene (not star class, not swim up): I watched and read many reviews ahead of going on this trip, but I always take them with a grain of salt. I have spent time at 5 star resorts and 3 star resorts, and some of the complaints can be off from my experience. Check in process- we arrived at around 11 and check in was 3 pm. It was a long day and had I realized I may have opted for a later flight. We got bracelets and could enjoy the resort while we waited for the room to be ready. It was our first time there and there wasn't anyone to show us a basic tour around, so we wandered until one of the concierge helped us about. Went back at 3 to find that the room was still not ready. It was closer to 4 before we got to the room. Chair game- we didn't have a single issue with this the whole week. There were chairs with umbrellas at the pool and beach all week, some days we were down there around 9 and a few closer to noon. They may not have been right at the front of things, but I was not rising at 6 am for anything this week to get front row. Pools/lazy river- The pools were clean and I didn't find it too crowded, although we are more beach people. The Lazy river was a fun addition to the day. Sometimes it was busier than others, but there seemed to be floats available (we brought our own though). The beach- this is one of my big things when traveling. I want a beautiful beach! The beach itself is absolutely beautiful. Which was quickly disappointing after being in the water and seeing actual chunks of POOP 💩 floating all around us. Let me preemptively state that I know this is NOT the hotels fault. This happened all but the last 2 days we spent at the beach. There were several stories as to what kind of poo it was (turtles, manatees, human waste from tour boats dumping at sea), but the fact that I had to dodge literal chunks of feces at all was absolutely disgusting. Many of the return guests and have had this same experience along this stretch of beach. I have never had this experience anywhere else in Mexico or other Caribbean destinations. This alone is a reason that I would never be back to that particular area of Mexico. It is a shame as that particular beach itself is stunning. It makes me wonder if the reports of people being sick at the resort and for weeks after leaving are related 🤔 I can say I would not be back to this resort. Nothing of the above ruined my whole vacation, by any means, but the hotel overall was lacking any sort of "it factor" for me, and the logs of poo in the ocean was the thing that cinched that decision. See below for room and food experience
