We stayed at Planet Hollywood Cancun and overall had a good experience, with a few downsides. The room was really nice and spacious, which we loved. However, our fridge didn’t get filled with snacks like it was supposed to, which was a bit disappointing and not what we expected from an all-inclusive resort. The service has been great — staff are friendly, helpful, and attentive. The food has also been good, with plenty of options and solid quality. One area that could definitely improve is the entertainment. It felt a bit lacking compared to other resorts, especially in the evenings. Also, the bus ride from the hotel took longer than expected, which made getting around a little inconvenient. Overall, it’s a nice resort with great service and comfortable rooms, but there’s room for improvement in entertainment and some details of the all-inclusive experience.

This property is not a 5-star hotel and should be listed more accurately. The rooms are basic and dated, with décor that feels tacky rather than upscale. Amenities are extremely minimal—one bar of soap and hand cream—which is more in line with a Holiday Inn than a 4–5 star resort. Nearly everything felt like an upsell, including the in-room alcohol dispenser charging $40+ per bottle. In an all-inclusive resort, this is especially inappropriate. If alcohol isn’t included in the room, remove the dispenser rather than advertising it. We completed online check-in in advance, which required multiple emails with the concierge to even make it work. Despite this, in-person check-in was still slow and inefficient. A $200 room deposit is required, along with a $125 fee for a lost wristband. This felt excessive and out of place for a hotel positioning itself as luxury. I’ve stayed at many true 5-star hotels and have never encountered this. It creates the impression that guests are assumed to be careless. Food and allergy handling was another major issue. While the hotel provides allergy cards for celiac guests, execution is poor. We waited over an hour for gluten-free pasta at the Italian restaurant. Gluten-free pizza was repeatedly said to be unavailable at the takeaway window, yet could be made inside—with another hour wait. Expecting kids to wait that long for food is unreasonable, especially for a common allergy. I’ve been to Cancun three times in recent years and stayed at genuine 5-star resorts without getting sick once. On this trip, I was unwell most of the time. The beach is beautiful, but the resort is far from Cancun where most excursions depart. Pool seating is extremely limited unless you arrive very early. There are no included water activities, unlike comparable resorts. Restaurant reservations are difficult to obtain unless you’re willing to eat at 9:00 p.m. Even checking into restaurants or the buffet often took far too long due to manual room verification—this should be handled by scanning wristbands. During one of the busiest weeks, one of the only non-buffet lunch restaurants was closed for a private event, without an alternative opened for guests. Hundreds of paying guests were left with fewer dining options than promised. If you’re a light sleeper, be aware that hallway noise echoes heavily due to slamming doors—earplugs are necessary. This hotel does not meet the standards expected of a Royalton or an Autograph Collection property. Marriott Bonvoy should seriously reconsider its classification.

Family of 4, with youngin’s and we LOVED this resort! So much to do. Food options were endless, we enjoyed the lazy river and kids splash park. Beach and water were super clean. All the staff were fantastic!! Consistent service and treated very well. Rooms were clean and we had crib, dehumidifier, and other needs brought to us immediately upon request. 10/10 recommend!

We had consecutive night reservations with different room types booked separately over three nights. At check-in, the front desk team kindly provided us with a complimentary upgrade to a swim-out room, which allowed us to stay in the same room for our entire stay without the hassle of moving. The staff throughout the resort were incredibly kind and hardworking. Our flight back home was delayed, though they couldn’t accommodate a late checkout of 7pm for our 10:30pm flight, they instead kindly gave us access to the resort while we wait for our 7pm transportation to the transportation, store our luggages, and a complimentary hospitality room to shower and get ready before departure. We truly enjoyed our stay and can’t wait for our next vacation back to Cancun!

We absolutely loved our vacation here. The resort was the perfect size. We really enjoyed the food at all the restaurants. Our favorite meals were at the Indian and Tepanyaki dinners. We were Star Class so the breakfast at The Shores and lunch at the Star Class pool were also great. We had great experiences with the staff. Antonio at the Star Class pool was super friendly and attentive. Our butler, Trinidad, was very accommodating and looked after us so well. At the Indian restaurant, Hernandez, waited on us and he was great with our teenager. She wanted to go back just to visit with him. The two guys running the Flow Rider were also great to her, they had her trying tricks and were great teachers. We really enjoyed our week and plan to return next year!
