Malta

Day 1

Scintillating sunshine promises to greet you as you step off the plane on your luxury Malta holiday. With a centrally-located airport, it’s extremely easy to get a taxi or transfer to your coastal resort. Begin by checking in, unpacking and familiarising yourself with your outstanding hotel. Lounge by the swimming pool, taking it easy with a cocktail and a book. You could also wander around the surrounding area, discovering all the local hotspots, including the nearby picturesque beaches. If you want to start your holiday to Malta off on the right foot, book in for a spa treatment immediately. With massages, facials, body scrubs and much more available, you’ll feel like you’re in heaven from the very first moment. As night draws in, enjoy tantalising drinks on the promenade and some delicious waterfront dining or sample the incredible fare from your hotel’s restaurant before taking in the excellent evening entertainment.

Malta

Day 2

Wake up in pure luxury on day two of your unforgettable Malta escape. Dine on a filling and tasty breakfast before heading straight for this island’s capital city, Valletta, for some unrivalled sightseeing. Regarded as the sunniest city in Europe, you can explore the cobblestoned streets in glorious conditions. Begin your tour of this historical city at the magnificent St John’s Co-Cathedral. This 16th-century structure features a lavish interior with colourful frescos and ornate arches. Then head over to the enchanting Upper Barrakka Gardens, situated near the famous Castille Square, home to the Auberge de Castille, and the Grand Harbour, where you’ll also find the Museum of Archaeology. This scenic spot boasts a stunning fountain and panoramic views. It’s also overlooking the Saluting Battery, where you can watch the ceremonial cannons being fired throughout the day. Stop for a sit down in Malta’s oldest coffee shop, Café Cordinna, before having dinner in one of Valletta’s many dining destinations.

Malta

Day 3

The legendary “Three Cities” of Malta are a stone’s throw away from Valletta and are the perfect way to spend your third day on the island. These historical fortifications are a quieter alternative to the capital but are bursting with culture and excitement nonetheless. Cospicua is the largest of the cities and is the home of the magnificent Church of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception, which miraculously survived bombing during World War II. Senglea boasts sublime views of Valletta and the Grand Harbour from the sensational Gardjola Gardens. There’s also a 16th-century watchtower and Fort St Michael to discover. Vittoriosa is the original settlement of the Knights of St John, who arrived in 1530, but history here dates back to the Phoenician times – so there's plenty to immerse yourself in. Take in all of the sights in one convenient and relaxing boat trip around the harbour before stopping off for a well-earned gelato break.

Malta

Day 4

Prepare for a fun-filled afternoon of heritage and culture with a tour of Mdina and Rabat. You’ll be surrounded by jaw-dropping Baroque architecture, with each building offering a unique and interesting story. Mdina, known as the “silent city”, is Malta’s former mediaeval capital that’s brimming with 4,000 years’ worth of history. Start your journey off at St Paul’s Cathedral. Founded in the 12th century, holidaymakers can discover the intriguing past of this site, from the arrival of St Paul the Apostle to the 1693 earthquake and its subsequent rebuilding. There’s plenty here for families too, including horse-drawn carriage rides, the Mdina Dungeons experience and the Fontanella Tea Garden. Similarly, Rabat boasts its own awe-inspiring architecture, including Domus Romana, a Roman villa filled with beautiful mosaics, and the St Paul’s Catacombs beneath the city streets. The nearby Cortis Vineyard is great for a tour and wine tasting of exceptional Maltese wines, which are rarely exported abroad.

Malta

Day 5

A pleasant ferry ride to the neighbouring islands of Gozo and Comino will wow you with unspoilt nature, winding streets and exciting outdoor activities. The larger of the two, Gozo is known for its rural charm, lush landscapes and historical structures. You’ll be in awe of the Ggantija Temples, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which are older than the pyramids of Egypt and originally believed to have been built by giants. The crowning jewel of Gozo is the Citadel of Victoria, a major landmark which includes hotspots such as Santa Marija Cathedral, the Folklore Museum and the Bishop’s Palace. For outdoor fun, the Inland Sea is great for swimming and hiking, while Ramla Bay offers water sports and relaxing in the sun. Comino is home to the mesmerising Blue Lagoon and Crystal Lagoon, refreshing pools of turquoise water perfect for diving, snorkelling and swimming, as well as exciting shipwrecks and underwater caverns filled with marine life.

Malta

Day 6

After a few days of being on the go and touring Malta’s major hotspots, we think you’ve earned a break and there’s no better place to relax than on a blissful Malta beach. With 200 kilometres of coastline, there’s a myriad of glorious expanses, including 11 Blue Flag options, to choose from and unlimited access to water sports excitement. Mellieha Bay is the largest beach on the island and has sparkling shallow waters, making it a superb spot for families to soak up the sun and make lifelong memories. There’s lots of amenities located nearby too, including restaurants such as Il Pirata, Ventuno and San Remo Beach Club. Golden Bay is Blue Flag certified and boasts a multitude of sunbeds and parasols, as well as food kiosks to keep you fueled up for a beach day unlike any other. Unique red sands and beautiful sunsets are just a few of the highlights you’ll discover at St George’s Bay.

Malta

Day 7

Day seven means home time, but not before you’ve made use of all your hotel’s luxury facilities just one more time. Start the day off with a delicious breakfast and dip in the swimming pool or a lounge on a sunbed to catch some final rays. Venture into Malta for some last-minute shopping. Stroll along the various promenades for local boutiques, where you can also stop for a freshly-made coffee, or explore a modern mall. Sliema is the home of The Point Shopping Mall, Malta’s premier shopping destination, where you can indulge in some retail therapy with a multitude of different brands. Or, head to Bay Street Shopping Complex in St Julian’s, where there’s a mix of stores to suit every budget. After your last few hours in Malta, it’s time to return to the airport and travel back home. We hope your Malta holiday is everything you’ve wished for and more!
