We loved our stay here. Overall a solid 4/5. Could have been a 4.5/5 if not for the bar which was quite the disappointment.
Our rooms were excellent. We had the over water villa. Perfectly located. Bilal was our housekeeper and he was excellent. Serviced the room twice a day and always did a fantastic job.
Spa treatment was very relaxing. Yulia was my masseuse and she knew how to do her job!

Overall good. 3.5/5 for food - lacking flavours, found it a bit bland. 5/5 service.
Chili and Lime:
Overall good. 4/5 for food. We got to experience the Asian night and the global night. Food selection was excellent. Lots of options to please every palate. 4/5 for service. Language difficulties at times. Live entertainment on the Friday night we were there which was really nice.
Bay Rouge:
2.5/5 drinks are very weak even when you ask for a double shot. Service was slow or nonexistent. Often went to the bar myself. Perhaps have some lively music all day or a live band at night. There’s no night vibe. Just not the beach ambience it has the potential for.
Charcoal
4/5. My appetizer was alright. Bland salad. Main was the ribs and it was very good. Dessert was delicious; best crème brûlée I’ve had. Chef nailed the caramel top. Service was excellent. Our server was knowledgeable about the food and offered another app to make up for the bland salad.
Other activities that we did:
Sunset cruise - it was nice, the sunset we had was not great. However the staff onboard truly went out of their way to make up for the lack of sunset. They were amazing.
Snorkeling: this was a fun experience. We got to see some sharks, turtles and more. It was amazing swimming out near the reefs.
Stargazing: was boring and uncomfortable. Sitting on the rock hard boat top and stargazing was uncomfortable. Would have been nice to have the beanbags that we had when we did the sunset cruise. The captain didn’t even pick a good spot to stop.
Getting around the resort: it would be nice if they had shuttles transporting folks through the day. It’s very hot and the signage isn’t great throughout. We did get lost a couple of times. The paths have little to no shade so the walks can be excruciatingly hot. Even giving us the option to use bikes would be nice.

We went to Varuu by Atmosphere for our honeymoon and our experience was absolutely wonderful. The resort is pure luxury and tranquility, in the middle of nature. All the staff is extremely friendly without being intrusive. We had a wonderful stay and it was thanks to them and all the wonderful services the hotel offers:
1- The food: it is amazing how they manage to have such a variety, and quality of food. Everything was delicious, with a wide variety of Indian, Maldivian, European food in their Lime and Chilli Buffet, but to highlight:
- The buffet at breakfast and especially Nyoman, in charge of the omelets, which were delicious. He was so kind with us!!
- Kaagé: the Maldivian food restaurant on the island. They have integrated the Maldivian culinary tradition with the best ingredients and avant-garde cuisine. We would like to highlight Moosa, who helped us a lot and told us the historty of the main dishes of the Maldivian cusine and recommended us perfectly.
- Charcoal: grill restaurant on the beach, ideal for a romantic dinner. We were served by Nisha, who also works at the bar, Bay Rouge, and she was very friendly, kind and professional.
2- Activities:
- Koamas family at the Dive Center. We love diving and it was clear to us that in Maldives we could not miss it. We did two dives and a snorkel with sharks and we loved it. We are especially grateful to all the instructors who were charming, very professional and attentive. There is a good atmosphere that is hard to beat. If you enjoy diving and snorkelling this is your resort! We also felt very safe with them because is a very well known diving center.
- Lifeguard: Adam, one of the lifeguards on the island was super nice to us and treated us great, recommending the best areas to dive.
- SPA. The girls at the SPA are the best! They are very professional and gave us a dream massage. They are also very delicate and nice.
- Personal trainers. The gym teachers are very good and diligent. We went to several classes and it was a success.
3- Cleanliness and organisation. Everything was clean and taken care of. And one of the people who made it possible was Milon, in charge of our overwater villa. He had many special details with us and made our honeymoon a dream. Thank you Milon! Also our host, Arusham, was very supportive and treated us very well. He also had special details with us and we really appreciated them.

Varu is a beautiful island ! Our First luxury holidays.
We had great days there, with great staff, welcomed very well by chamila, amazing adventures to do with Risey exploring the life Underwater, shark, octopus,turtle, tropical fish!
I planned ( a bit late )my partner birthday but everything was done as asked at the end, thank you to the chef who made the delicious blueberry tart on demand ! Thank you to Mohammed, faloula etc etc...
I recommend varu, all included plan make it so easier for everything!

Words cannot begin to describe how much we absolutely loved our stay at Varu by Atmosphere. From the amazing food, to the breathtaking views and outstanding quality of every aspect of the resort, Varu went above and beyond our expectations.
One of the main reasons our stay was so incredible was the staff who soon enough made us feel like they were friends. They made us feel so so welcome and catered to our every need. It wouldn’t feel fair to not name them and they deserve every recognition.
At Bay Rouge, we experienced the best cocktails we had ever tasted from the creative and best bartenders Hemant and Chamila served to us by the most friendliest and hardworking individuals who would always know exactly what we wanted and would always ensure our glasses weren’t empty and snack bowls always full - Nalin, Nazur, Rishikesh, Yumnam and Magharita. Every single one of our evenings was so much fun with Nalin making us laugh, Hemant and Chamila making the tastiest drinks and Nazur taking the time to talk to us and make sure we were ok!
Moving on to the food, we just can’t fault chilli and lemon. From the serving staff, namely Subh who was exceptional as were Mohammed , Hidayat and Zain to check Fernando and Aisar the pizza chef who always took the time to speak to us and ensured the food was always 11/10.
Our favourite restaurant was Charcoal, managed so well by Nazur and big shout out to Nisha who was so good that she convinced us to eat there again! Even bigger shout out to Chef Vikas who made us the most incredible chicken kebabs and chicken main! The spices and quality of cook was nothing like I’ve had before!
Adam the life guard was another staff member who we can’t write this review without naming. I really wanted to see the sharks and sea life and he was always willing to take the time to show us this very thing. He told us times to come back and sure enough I did see the beautiful sharks and sea life!
Finally, our room and house keeper. Mamun was absolutely incredible, he would always come to see us twice a day to ensure our stay was comfortable. He took the time out to see exactly what we like and would always leave us the most magical towel designs!
On our final day, my husband was so unwell, and if it wasn’t for the Nisha and Nazur, he wouldn’t have recovered as fast as he did. Nazur made the most incredible ginger shot and Nisha made sure my husband was comfortable and looked after at all times - she even called managed to get him to see a doctor and eat some food which I was trying to do all night! She even gave me a break and let me go for lunch whilst her and Nazur ensured my husband was ok. Being unwell in another country is always horrible but the staff made it that much more bearable.
Overall, the resort was absolutely amazing, from the authentic decor, high quality service, cleanliness to the delicious variety of food. But I have to say, our trip would not have been as enjoyable without the outstanding staff we had met. We wish they all the very best and every recognition as they work so hard and provide the highest level of service. I have listed them out again below:
