Let me start by saying that the resort is beautiful, it has a nice large lobby, plenty of restaurants and bars for everyone to enjoy and never seemed crowded. The downside is the service...it leaves much to be desired. Being Bonvoy members we have always had wonderful experiences at Marriott properties, so we thought of staying at this resort because it is part of the Marriott portfolio. THE CHECK-IN: Our check-in process was easy and not long and our room was ready, however we arrived at 4pm. For those who arrived at the resort earlier in the day (my parents and rest of family) they had to check-in to get the wristband to give them access to buffet and amenities, and then had to make another line after 4pm to activate the wristband and be given access to the room. My parents didn't get access to their room until 7pm because the resort has contracts with flight crews which allows them late check-out. Hence making those guests unable to check-in until the crew decides to leave. Overall we enjoyed our time together as a family, we tried to make the best out of each situation and the resort. It is certainly not a 5-star property!

Very Disappointed – I Do Not Recommend I stayed at the Royalton Bávaro in Punta Cana at the end of July last year with my mom and family. We rented two rooms and had a wonderful experience. The service, the food, the entertainment, the cleanliness—everything was excellent. I left extremely happy and impressed. That’s why I decided to come back this year with even more family—this time we booked five rooms—but unfortunately, it has been a complete disappointment. From the moment we checked in, everything has been a problem. One of the rooms with a private pool had dirty water that wasn’t circulating properly, and the water level was low. In my room, there was a dehumidifier placed right next to the jacuzzi, which made the whole experience feel unpleasant. Another room had a bad odor, and we had to file a complaint and request a change. In yet another room, the hot water wasn’t working. On Tuesday, our towels weren’t changed, and when I asked, they said it would be done in the afternoon—but it never happened. Room service was terrible: I requested food that never arrived, and the minibar was never restocked unless I specifically asked. I made a reservation at one of the à la carte restaurants for the entire family. While the staff was kind, the menu was limited, the food wasn’t enough, and we had to order extra dishes. This was nowhere near the quality of last year’s experience. I’ve had to file multiple complaints during my stay, and although the employees have been professional and tried to help, it’s extremely disappointing to be constantly following up on issues while you’re supposed to be on vacation. I feel bad for bringing my family back based on the great experience I had before, only to face this level of service. The quality of this hotel has significantly declined in just one year—from the food, service, and overall maintenance. It’s truly a shame to see a place fall so hard. Sadly, I do not recommend it to anyone.

Someone had access to my room and broke into it. I was in the room and the person would not stop keying in and pushing on the door causing us to push back to keep them out. I let the front desk and quality assurance know. They reassured me that a manager would be in contact. I have yet to hear anything and I have reached out three times. Not sure why they give people access to other peoples rooms. This hotel does not look out for others safety. Be aware!!

I rarely leave reviews, but this experience was so unbelievably bad I had to warn others. From start to finish, this resort was a disaster. Check-in was a nightmare, taking over 2 hours with zero communication or urgency from the front desk. No refreshments, no apology — just standing in line exhausted after travel. The room? Disgusting. It was filthy and clearly not well maintained. Stains on the furniture, grime in the bathroom, and worst of all — bugs crawling around the room. I even saw bugs near the buffet food, which was absolutely inedible anyway. Cold, tasteless, low-quality slop that they call “gourmet.” I had a sofa bed in my room, but no pillow, no blanket. I requested them immediately, and after being told they’d “send it right away,” I waited FOUR HOURS. No one ever came. Just zero accountability or effort from staff. Speaking of which — customer service is horrendous. You’re treated like an inconvenience rather than a guest. Staff either don’t understand your request or simply ignore it. The entire resort feels neglected, dirty, and overwhelmed. I’ve stayed at many all-inclusives and this was by far the worst. Avoid at all costs. Spend your money elsewhere — anywhere but here.

Let me start off by saying I don’t typically write reviews but I felt the need for this one. We had to miss the first day of our honeymoon because we had a canceled flight. I called Royalton and made them aware and to not cancel our room. We check in the next afternoon and were told to wait because it is going through “refreshing”. I told them that I don’t care if it’s refreshed, we don’t want to miss any more time of our honeymoon. We were told to go to lunch and come back. So we do that and I go up to the check in counter and we tell the woman what is going on and she leaves for 10 minutes and comes back and places us in a room. It was not the same room that we booked, so they gave away our original room. We get to the room and the TV is on with the Royalton promo going. I take the remote and try to click continue like it says and it is not doing anything. I try for a few minutes with no luck. I go to the TV itself and turn it off. I make a request in the app for them to come look at it. We go to the pool and we come back and the remote is gone. Never to be seen again for the rest of our trip. So no tv at all. The next thing was the towel situation by the pools. You best grab a towel early in the morning and keep it with you all day. Take it to your room when you go because you will not find a towel in the afternoon. Also the lazy river does not provide floats. You must bring or buy them in the shop which cost $45 for a single float. Another thing is the bath towels for the room. You best keep those as well. We had the housekeepers take them since we used them a couple of times. They did not leave towels when they cleaned. We made 3 requests in the app, but we didn’t receive any towels for over 24 hours. I went to ask a housekeeper for towels and she said later that they were low on inventory. We were unable to adjust the A/C in the room at all during our stay. So it was set to probably 66 or 67degrees, which is good when coming in from the hot sun, but not when you’re trying to sleep with a thin comforter. The restaurant reservation process is terrible. In 5 days we were only able to get 1 reservation at Zen. We were forced to eat at the buffets for the most part. I’m assuming diamond club gets all the reservations. Don’t go to the beach unless you’re ready to say no about 10 times to vendors trying to sell you stuff. The room service is not the great. They were out of several things that we ordered so they will just send random things. I would only recommend going to this resort if you pay for the Diamond Club. You get treated differently among the employees. You are able to get more things done. If we were diamond club, our issues would have gotten resolved a lot sooner. Overall we did not have a great experience or even a great honeymoon at this resort. I personally would not go back.
