Amazing location! Everything about this resort was awesome. The beach is pure sand and the odd seaweed. All the pools and lazy river were spotless everyday, very clean. The lazy river was by far the best one ive been on, swim up bar in a cave at the halfway point was perfect. Feed at every location was very good. Buffet had a wide selection of food everyday. All the bars were fully stocked and loaded with friendly staff. Tips are very encouraged and do change how well your service can be. The only complaints I had was it took us over 2 hours to get checked in and get to our room which was very frustrating with 2 little children. The second being the app they make you download never worked for us and booking the specialty restaurants was difficult. The shows in the evening were always entertaining with lots of table service no matter where you are sitting. They also have a Cafe with had amazing coffee, sandwiches and treats from applied pie to orea cupcakes. The kids pool was a hit with all of our kids we had there. Lots of slides, water dump bucket and a bar for the adults right next to it. Would definitely visit again!

We had an amazing 7-day stay at Royalton Bávaro in the Dominican Republic and would absolutely return! The resort is beautiful, clean, and very well maintained. The beach is stunning, with soft sand and clear water, and it was one of our favorite parts of the trip. Another huge bonus is how close the resort is to the airport, making travel days easy and stress-free. Our room was spotless and perfectly located, just a short walk to the pools, beach, and nightly entertainment. Everything felt convenient and thoughtfully laid out, which made the whole experience relaxing from start to finish. The food and service were excellent throughout the resort. There were plenty of dining options, and we consistently enjoyed great meals and friendly service everywhere we went. A special thank you to Wendy at the Martini Bar, who made every visit fun and memorable with her amazing service and personality. Also, Miguel at the cabanas truly made our trip extra special. We originally booked a pool cabana for one day, but Miguel was so attentive and welcoming that we extended it to three days. He went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and taken care of, and he was a big reason our vacation felt so luxurious and relaxing. Overall, Royalton Bávaro exceeded our expectations. Beautiful beach, clean resort, great food, and outstanding staff, we highly recommend it and can’t wait to come back!

From the moment we arrived at Royalton Punta Cana, the friendly staff greeted us with warm smiles and genuine hospitality, making us feel right at home in beautiful Punta Cana. Check-in took a little longer than expected, but that’s completely understandable with the language barrier – the staff were patient and helpful throughout. Our room was spotlessly clean (a huge plus!), and while the decor felt a bit dated, it was comfortable and well-maintained. The real highlight was our swim-out pool access – we used it constantly and absolutely loved every relaxing (and fun!) minute splashing around right from our patio. The pools throughout the resort were impeccably clean, and the food was truly amazing! We didn’t have a single bad meal during our entire stay – from the buffets to the à la carte restaurants, everything was fresh, flavorful, and varied. What made this trip extra special was how safe and comfortable our kids felt. They were able to explore on their own, make new friends, and have the time of their lives while we relaxed knowing the environment was family-friendly. I would recommend Royalton Punta Cana to anyone traveling to Punta Cana all day long – it’s the perfect all-inclusive spot for families seeking fun, relaxation, and great value. We’ll definitely be back!

This is a difficult review. Our first room was clean, but smelled awful. Not tropical damp, mildew and mold. The second room was much better. The food ranged from okay to good. Some staff were very nice. Some staff were not happy to be there. I imagine it's not a great place to work. The beach was lovely as was the lazy river. Though it was cold. (The lazy river that is). Bartenders were fast and friendly. We were able to make all the reservations we needed without being diamond club, and i had been concerned about that. I would have had a much better stay if I had never spent a night in building 18. We traveled with family that were on a different floor in 18, and had the same issue.

This resort is marketed as a 5-star property, but in our experience, it did not live up to that standard—especially for travelers who are accustomed to high-end Marriott properties. If you’re expecting a typical top-tier Marriott experience, it’s important to set expectations accordingly. Challenges The biggest struggle was check-in, particularly with the Diamond Club upgrade. The process took nearly an hour and felt disorganized and frustrating. The Diamond Lounge itself was surprisingly inhospitable, and the overall atmosphere was tense—many guests around us were visibly annoyed. Honestly, during that hour, I found myself looking up other resorts in the area, wondering how a stay that started this poorly could possibly turn around. Fortunately, it did improve—but first impressions matter. We also encountered several staff members who appeared exhausted or unfriendly, which impacted the overall service experience. Additionally, food was hit or miss—some meals were enjoyable, while others fell well below expectations for a resort of this price point and rating. Positives On the positive side, the location is beautiful, and the room was clean and comfortable. We really enjoyed the resort layout and loved having free access to the nearby water park, which was a big win for our family. Our kids especially loved the FlowRider, and it became a highlight of the trip. Our butler was very accommodating and helped smooth over some of the earlier frustrations. Dinner improved as the week went on, and the nightly entertainment was fun and well done. Final Thoughts While we’re not sure we’d return to this specific resort, we might consider giving Royalton another try at a different location. As for the Dominican Republic, it feels a bit like we’ve been there and done that. Overall, a decent stay—but not the 5-star experience it’s marketed to be.
