I had great weather during my stay, but my first night (Dec. 31) was awful. I arrived at the hotel late 10pm, had to get a burger and quickly de-plane so I can enjoy the NYE celebrations, which strangely was a "rock" theme. At any rate, once I returned to my room I noticed a foul odour. It smelled of wet, mould. Turns out- it was the bed! I returned to my room after midnight, so I didn't think any remedy was available to me NYE after midnight, so I had to suffer through the smelliest bed linens I've ever experienced AT A "FIVE STAR HOTEL". Unacceptable. I did not sleep at all. It was a horrible first night. The smell was foul. The next day I informed the concierge, and by the afternoon, they had remedied the issue- or at least replaced the foul linens (thankfully it wasn't the mattress) and perfumed the room. Ok. But this type of thing should simply not occur. Be warned, I am not the only one who experienced this problem. I am fluent in Spanish and I overheard the concierge tell a housekeeper to look into another room with the same problem. Clearly there is a quality control issue here. While, yes, they do make it right, I still suffered a horrible night stay. The rest of my stay was good. The staff at the buffet was friendly, the bartenders were nice. The entertainment was very impressive. They do a good job of showcasing latin culture and Mexican culture, which I very much appreciate. The concierge, Fernanda, did a nice gesture for me and left a bottle of prosecco in my room on the 3rd night. While appreciated, it still does not make up for a horrible night of sleep. Be warned.

Went here on our honeymoon for 7 days and the clear standout was the excellent staff. The service was top tier and made the overall experience. Pros: it was always easy to get a drink and access the pools. Rooms were always cleaned daily. Cons: the hotel is old. Their is wear and tear all throughout and it seems like the whole place needs a big refurbishment. I often felt like I was being pitched and up sold. As well as the currency exchange is really poor and the set taxi prices to main attractions were atrocious. It was a very expensive hotel if getting anything outside of the all inclusive price. Mixed: the food was very hit or miss which is not out of the norm for all inclusives or buffets in general. The non buffet restaurants were delicious. However the buffet food often tasted cold or stale if you were there more then 20 minutes after than dining time opened.

The hotel is generally clean, but in a clear state of disrepair, with deferred maintenance evident throughout the property. Issues range from rusted-through bases on metal fixtures, broken doors on garbage enclosures, and cracked concrete walkways, to poolside furniture that appeared not to have been cleaned for months. Spilled drinks had clearly been left to accumulate. My partner and I passed the time by playing what we jokingly called “door-handle bingo”: spotting a pull-down door handle that wasn’t broken earned you a point. Lounge chairs with broken backs were especially frustrating. Overall, the atmosphere feels tired and dull. I did enjoy spending some time in the sun at the farthest corner of the pool, but this is not a place I would choose to return to. Update: hand sanitizer dispenser was added to the buffet. It is however not properly maintained (dirty, empty). Update 2: No, just kidding, gone again the next day. I find not having a hand washing station and not providing hand sanitizer at the buffet completely unacceptable.

My husband, sister and I just returned from a wonderful stay at the resort, staying in rooms 3115 & 3114. The resort is breathtakingly beautiful. The food and drinks were very good! We would like to compliment the staff who did an excellent job. Many thanks to restaurant staff Abigail, a very friendly hostess, Karen and Ableino who works hard and is very attentive to his customers. Actually all the staff was very nice and courteous. We were also very impressed with the entertainment, both the pool and in the evening at the lounge. The Jamaican band was so much fun to listen to. We will definitely be returning!

First and foremost, the staff at this resort are some of the best I’ve ever encountered. Everyone was incredibly friendly, helpful, and kept the energy up despite an older, slower crowd. Massive shout-out to Luna, Mar, Gordon Ramsey, Christopher, and especially Gabriel for the rifle shooting session — the experience truly wouldn’t have been the same without them and the rest of the amazing staff. The entertainment itself is top-notch, but the crowd made it feel much quieter than expected. This is definitely more of an older crowd that tends to wind down early (around 10 pm). If you’re looking for a livelier atmosphere, the sister resort (not adults-only) was fantastic and had much more of a “bop” vibe. The amenities could use some improvement. There were only about 15 loungers at the main pool where most activities take place, while additional loungers were placed in random, unused corners of the property. The rooms were clean but very dated — especially noticeable in the bathroom and shower. As for the food, it was better than at some other resorts I’ve stayed at, but still has room for improvement. The placement of raw meats (raw chicken, steak, etc.) around the buffet was particularly concerning from a food safety standpoint. Overall, the staff absolutely make this resort, but there are a few areas that could benefit from updates and better planning.
