Our stay at this hotel was absolutely amazing! From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed and relaxed. The hotel itself is beautiful and spotless, and the surroundings are simply breathtaking. Every meal was a delight, and the staff were unbelievably friendly, always making us feel special. Waking up to the unforgettable views of the ocean and the sparkling azure water was like a dream. These were truly magical holidays — a place we already want to return to!

Firstly, I have read recent reviews and agree this hotel shouldn’t be listed as a 4star, as it is a 3star at best a 3star+. The hotel needs some serious money spending on it before it can call itself a 4star. The hotel pool area whilst nice is in need of some TLC…tiles need grouting/repair, wood needs painting, bridge to pool bar feels like at any point you may fall through and into the pool. We were disappointed with the room for a 4star. No iron in the room but more surprising was a lack of kettle with tea & coffee making facilities. We came back to the room a few days after it had been ‘cleaned’ to find the floor was still gritty and so clearly hadn’t been swept & moped. The bedsheets were not changed once during our stay. Seems they only make the bed and give it a very quick one over each day. The room was dated and needs modernising. Food - the one and only evening restaurant whilst always being replenished was disappointing in quality. The selection was more limited to what we are used to and we found most nights it was the same old with only a couple of new options. With all inclusive you need to make it more varied for guests. Also, we found the staff are very slow to clear away dirty plates and looked around to see other tables in our position, with plates piled up and having to go onto desert with main plates left on the table…not a pleasant dining experience! The hotel is on a slope and this should be made more clear to prospective customers. We heard of room changes due to mobility issues, but at least the walk up and down burns off the calories! We fed back that this isn’t helped by the pool towel pick up/drop off being up the top the main reception away from the pools. Often the reception staff as tied up with check in & outs so you’re left in a queue just to get fresh towels. What seems to be a pitty, from reading previous reviews, over the last several months is that the same issues cropping up. The guest experience manager will acknowledge this review and thank me but are lessons really being learnt and improvements happening? Overall, we had a pleasant stay but when going back to Fuerteventura we will use other hotels and sadly wouldn’t recommend this one.

Stayed here for a week September 2025. Firstly it's not a 4 star hotel. 3 or 3+ at best. What could be 4* is if you upgrade to Royal level which costs 30€ pppd. When you look on the travel agents web sites photos of the hotel, it's pics from this part of the hotel they share. Which is a little bit devious. Also it states there are 2 restaurants to choose from, but only if you upgrade otherwise it's just one. As soon as you walk in your standard room you'll realise it is not 4*. Well worn furniture and beds etc. Cracked tiles, wobbly toilet, broken hair dryer and a patio door that needed Hercules to open. And upstairs bathroom water coming into your room! The entire complex is on a steep hill so could be an issue for elderly and disabled people. It's away from the main resort of Morro Jable but only 5€ in a taxi. The beach looks to be just over the road but it is a bit of a trek. The hotel provides a shuttle bus twice a day. Ok that's the bad stuff over with. We had a really nice week at the Occidental Playa, the pool areas were large enough to accommodate everyone and loads of sunbeds so no need to reserve (but people did!!) The snack bar at the bottom pool was excellent and we only tried the main restaurant for lunch once. Talking of which the evening meals were more than enough for anyones tastes with a massive assortment of local and international cuisines. Breakfasts were the same. The gardens were immaculate and clean a big tick 👌☑️ to the grounds people. Lovely variety of plants. For those that are interested the beer 🍺 is Cruzcampo. If you upgrade you can get Heineken. So would we stay here again? Yes we would now we know what to expect but if you are coming here and expecting 4* as standard you will be disappointed unless you upgrade.

The occidental Jandia Playa is a nice hotel overall with a few issues that if resolved would make it an excellent place to stay. Location: On a hillside about 10-15 minutes walk from the beach depending on whereabouts in the hotel complex your room is. There is a gate for hotel guests to use to access the beach at the bottom of the hotel, which brings you out by the shops (Spar, Burger King etc). From there you can cross at the zebra crossing and then walk along the saltmarsh before you can head to the actual beach. There was a free bus to Morro Jable beach from the hotel a couple of times a day, but we found this was very crowded and the only time we actually used it the bus broke down on the way so we had to walk the rest. There is a nice walk up into the mountains and around the golf course if you carry on the road inland. Food: The food was really good, more than enough choice at mealtimes with enough variety for a week. The waiting staff were particularly attentive at clearing away plates and dirty tables which was good to see. The food was also replenished regularly even just before the closing time at tea (19:00-22:00 in summer). Room: The main issue with the room was the lock, which was a nightmare to open. Often we had to scan the keycard a number of times to get the door to open and we had to go back to reception to get the keycards refreshed as they weren’t working. This remained temperamental throughout the week and was the biggest issue with the hotel we had. The room itself was large, with a fan and aircon and a nice view over to the saltmarsh and the beach. The wifi was patchy from the room and most other areas around the hotel apart from in the main reception building. Hotel: There were lots of rescued cats around, this didn’t cause us a problem though. I liked the flowers and trees around the hotel and these were well maintained. The two pools were nice and large, and although there were a lot of reserved sunbeds despite signs asking guests not to leave towels etc on them, we managed to get a spot every day around the pool. I liked the activities around the pool and the animation staff were friendly. If the room locks were upgraded so that they worked first time and the wifi was upgraded for the whole hotel complex this would be a perfect place to go on holiday.

Our 3rd visit here and We always have the best times and amazing memories. Staff are lovley and respectfully just say hello to them as they are humans too and not your slaves as politeness goes a long way. All the bar staff and funny and have a brilliant sence of humour especially Maria at the pool bar. Animation the main man himself LORENZO, such an amazing human being. The energy and people skills this guy has is unreal. The resort as a allround 4stars from us but the day time Animation is everything to us and lorenzo made our holiday perfect.
