Moon Palace never ceases to amaze me. It's one of my favorite places. The beach isn't carribean blue but they do all they can to mitigate seaweed on the beach and make it enjoyable. The stay was great right up until they told me at check out that they hadn't received my original payment and needed to charge my card for the whole stay a second time. Even though I could show them proof that the payment had cleared on my card 4 days before the stay, they refused to allow me to leave until I payed a second time. They promised to refund the second charge once they could contact the billing department (which doesn't open until after 9). Will update once I have (or don't have) a resolution. UPDATE: they have told me they issued the refund for the second payment. I still don't plan to return given they were preventing me from leaving until I paid them several thousand dollars that I did not owe them. To their credit: even through the issue with double charging me, their staff was friendly at every interaction. My elementary age kids loved the pools, although it was disappointing to only have one slide if you didn't upgrade to the grand. They were surprisingly attentive to my child's food allergies. Some of that was genuine, like offering to make her a special dessert, but some of it was just CYA, like making me sign that I was okay with the cross contamination risk if she got food from the buffet.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The pickle ball courts were great and equipment solid to use. Unfortunately, there were several packs of high school boys in spring break. They were poorly behaved and noisy. I went to customer relations as they kept us up our first three night well passed 2 am. The guest relations stated they had other complaints and the room number and were aware of poor behaviour,”but were not responsible for the behavior of the guests” I asked even it has infringed on the experience and safety of the other guests, I have 3 daughters. They reiterated the statement. They offered to switch our rooms. When asked why should we have to move our 2 rooms instead of relocating the 1 room of boys they would not. I also asked to speak to a manager but never received a call. I had $350 dollar of resort credit that amazingly did not qualify for tours, photos or items that we purchases in the resort store. Would not recommend for families especially with teenage girls.

The service is wonderful with many going out of their way to help. The food is delicious and the facilities are well maintained. The only thing that's not to my taste is actually how large it is and it's a little far from the beach. However, it's a great stay for families with young kids who are happy to stay at the resort and not worry about planning an itinerary.

We were staying in Nizuc for 5 nights and 6 days. After arrival, they forced us to take a tour of Grant hotel and they would give $500 Resort credit to spend. We had an appointment at 9.30am and they were trying to sell the Palace Elite program and made us sit till 5.30. They will never allow you to leave, they attack you the moment they know you can afford to buy their plan. Finally they made us to spend 10K(me and my friend) on their plan and they promised few benefits but when the contract came to sign after swiping the credit card, everything was incorrect. Excellent hotel Excellent Food Excellent Service I will recommend this hotel and I will go back but never attend their Grant tour or elite sales pitch. I give them 1 star because I lost one day for their sales pitch and 1 day to get refund. Please don't fall for their 500 Resort credit and go to their Palace Elite sales. Their treatment after they take your money is horrible and they treat you with disrespect. Moon palace Nizuc is great experience without their Grant tour Elite program sales pitch. Don't' fall for it. Enjoy you vacation...
