I had the pleasure of being served by Gilberto during breakfast at Vela, and the experience was exceptional. From the moment we arrived, Gilberto was warm, professional, and attentive without being intrusive. He had a great knowledge of the menu, offered thoughtful recommendations, and ensured everything arrived perfectly timed and beautifully presented. What stood out most was his genuine hospitality — he made us feel welcome and valued throughout the meal. It’s rare to find service that strikes such a perfect balance between friendliness and professionalism, but Gilberto nailed it. He truly elevated our breakfast experience, and I’d happily return just for his service alone. Highly recommend asking for Gilberto if you're dining at Vela — he’s a star!

We had a really great experience at Hilton Tulum Riviera Maya as a couple. The staff were absolutely amazing—genuinely friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Special shoutouts to Fernanda, Angel, Mariana, Hans (at the bar), Alberto, and Dimas—and many others whose names we didn’t catch. Everyone made us feel incredibly welcomed. The resort is beautiful, clean, and well-maintained. The bar had a decent selection and cozy setups, and breakfast had a good variety. Restaurants overall were hit or miss, but our top picks were the Mexican Chop House, followed by the Asian, Italian Steakhouse, and then Mediterranean. Some areas for improvement: • Music at the adult pool was lacking—no DJs or vibe, which felt like a missed opportunity. • Evening entertainment wasn’t very engaging for adults. The themed nights (Michael Jackson, salsa, acrobatics) were just okay and more suitable for kids. • The TVs in the room were smart, but you couldn’t connect your phone or log in to your Netflix, YouTube, or other streaming accounts, which was a bit disappointing. • Our room was just okay. The AC was a little inconsistent, turning on and off at times. • The most unpleasant part of our stay was a persistent smell around the shower/washroom area—something like a sewer or rotten egg. Maintenance said they’d look into it and possibly move us, but we realized the smell was present in that general area of the resort, not just our room. Since it didn’t seem like it could be resolved, we stopped following up. We stayed in Casa 5, which is about a 10-minute walk from the main building. Slightly inconvenient but not a big deal—actually helped us get some steps in. The gym was fantastic, clean, and well-equipped. The on-site shops were surprisingly good—especially Onom, which had really stylish Tulum-inspired clothing. Also, a huge plus was the on-site car rental. The staff there were excellent and it was super handy, as the resort is about 20 minutes from Tulum and around 30 minutes from some of the best off-site restaurants. Having a car made it easy to explore, especially since the resort didn’t offer much in terms of evening entertainment. Overall, Hilton Tulum is a beautiful resort with outstanding staff, but with some operational and amenity improvements—especially around entertainment, tech, and room maintenance—it could easily go from good to amazing.

I just returned home today from Hilton Tulum. I’m not excited to be back. I can’t say enough about the staff. The entertainment staff and all of the food service staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating. I have food intolerances and the dining staff was incredibly attentive to my needs. The hotel was beautiful, so many pools to choose from and despite the seaweed there was a beach for swimming. I really enjoyed the quiet and tranquil vibe at the hotel. The entertainment was enjoyable. I can’t wait to go back!

Overall, this was a good experience and, as I’ve come to expect, another great stay at a Hilton property. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout my stay. The restaurants on the property were all very good and had a variety of options on the menus. The buffet breakfast and lunch were very expansive such that I could choose different options throughout my stay. I would at least recommend that the hotel ensure there are utensil options for each option in the buffet to mitigate food allergy risk with fruit plates. I chose an Ocean view room and even though sargassum seemed to be a problem, the hotel dealt with it as best they could and the smell was never bad so the view was great. Plenty of space in my king bed room and mini-bar fridge. About the only drawback to this Hilton is the location, it’s right in between Playa del Carmen and Tulum, so you either have to rent a car for the day or pay ~$75 for a taxi one way to go into the cities to explore. I did check out the excursions for Scuba Diving and it seemed reasonably priced for a 2 tank excursion as it included all the equipment needed, but it was too windy to go out to the reef and in looking at Cenote dive videos, it didn’t excite me enough to go on one. Would be nice to have a tank-only option pricing for those like me that own their own equipment. Definitely a place I’d return to for a future vacation for an all inclusive experience.

Our family really enjoyed our stay at this resort. The service staff was incredible, specifically Israel and Angel. Israel waited on us every morning at Vela for breakfast. His service was top-tier. He was very kind, friendly and made sure that our experience was perfect. He was our #1 waiter the entire trip. Angel is the Sommelier at various restaurants across the resort. He welcomed us into two separate restaurants, helping us pick out the best wine options and making sure our dining experience for dinner was memorable.
