We are staying at Sian Ka'an (very luxurious) and we came for dinner at Katok, it was so good! I'm a picky eater and I was able to find more than enough food to eat, and the steaks were delicious. The chef came out and asked us how our meal was which was greatly appreciated, especially from how busy the restaurant was. After dinner, we had the amazing opportunity to listen to this live music band. Their special touch to each song really made the experience, and they play very well together, paired with her incredible voice! Overall great night! And all the employees are so friendly, great vacation so far!

As a travel agent who has personally visited Luxury Bahia Principe Akumal five times—always bringing groups with me—I had high hopes for this trip to celebrate my sister’s 40th birthday. Each of us spent over $2,600 CAD expecting a luxury experience that this resort has delivered in the past. Unfortunately, this visit left us deeply disappointed. Lack of Recognition or Effort for Loyal Guests: Despite my loyalty and history with this resort, there was no acknowledgement of my regular stays—not even a simple welcome back. Even more upsetting, my sister’s milestone birthday was entirely overlooked. No room décor, no special touches—nothing that other resorts typically offer with ease for such occasions. A La Carte Fail & Tech Troubles: One of the main reasons we booked luxury rooms was for the unlimited à la carte dining. We couldn’t book any. The system heavily relies on guests using their phones for everything—dining reservations, spa bookings, viewing menus—but the Wi-Fi was unreliable at best. Constantly dropping out, with long periods where we couldn’t reconnect, it made planning on-site nearly impossible. Room Access Issues & Lockouts: Instead of traditional key cards, the resort uses chip-enabled wristbands to access rooms. These were more frustrating than helpful, often failing to work and locking us out. After voicing concerns about the disappointing experience, all four of us were locked out of our rooms entirely. Not exactly the resolution we were hoping for. Paid Entertainment & Gag Order: Nightly entertainment—usually a highlight—was not always included, with several events requiring additional payment. As a gesture for the troubles, we were offered one complimentary event only if we signed a non-disclosure agreement. That alone speaks volumes. Some Positives, But Not Enough: To be fair, many staff members were friendly and worked hard to ensure guests had a good time. The resort grounds and pools remain beautiful. But that alone can’t make up for the lack of service, organization, and consideration we encountered. Bottom Line: This is not a luxury resort experience—at least not anymore. It may look the part on the surface, but the lack of care for loyal guests, technical issues, inaccessible amenities, and overall poor customer service do not justify the cost. I won’t be recommending this property again, and I’ll be steering my future clients elsewhere.

The resort is great but it's the people that make this place special. Everyone here is so friendly and works so hard to make sure you enjoy yourself! If you don't have a good time it's because you don't know how to have fun! The shows are great, with an enthusiastic and charming staff. The waitstaff at the buffet are amazing, Manuel is the man and always took care of us and treated my family great! I want to give a special shout out to the kids club, my daughter had the time of her life and didn't want to leave when we'd go to pick her up each day. It is clear they run a professional and safe program, we will definitely recommend this resort to other families! To all the kids club staff, thank you for all your hard work, you are wonderful and helped make this an awesome vacation for my family!

We had just returned from our family holiday and I have nothing but positive feedback, the resort was beautiful and the staff super friendly and courteous! The list of activities and facilities is huge, we stayed for 10 days and didn't have enough time to do it all! I was to praise the spa staff especially Analy and Pilar for the expert service we had received, this was one of the best couples massages we had ever had! Many other members of staff from the concierges to the reception help desk and all the servers in-between they couldn't have been more helpful throughout the stay! We had an amazing time and will definitely return, thanks to all at the resort for all the hard efforts.

The hotel itself is pretty good - a nice location, ok beach, good food and good drinks. Rooms are nice, specially the recently renewed. Service, though, is way below average for mexico. Specially for Mexicans (Americans get preferential treatment). Whether is pool bar staff, restaurant waiters or even the people at the lobby - the service is decent at best, and at worst, they won’t even check in on you to see if you need anything. For the price you pay, you expect excellent service WITHOUT THE NEED OF TIPPING EVERYONE. In a way, the Americans have perpetrated this by giving out a dollar or two every single time they get a drink. I speak from my experience after organizing a 140 people event in the hotel, and booking around 25 rooms. I can’t even fathom the service anyone else would get.
