We had a blast at this resort for my best friend’s bachelor party! The service was fantastic, and the resort itself was amazing. The staff were super friendly, and the food was pretty good. The buffet wasn’t always top-notch, but on Fridays, they had unlimited lobsters! The restaurants were incredible, though they were usually packed. The only thing I didn’t enjoy was the drinks. They all had this weird chemical taste to them. The Pepsi Blacks were a hit, though! Overall, it was a great resort, and I’d definitely recommend it.

We had a wonderful stay at the Bahia Principe Luxury Akumal and couldn’t be happier with our experience. From the moment we arrived, Jose at check-in made an incredible first impression—he instantly made us feel like family and truly welcomed us. He went above and beyond to accommodate my mother, who has limited mobility, by relocating us to a building closer to all the amenities. His kindness, professionalism, and genuine care truly set the tone for our vacation. The food at the resort was some of the best we’ve had at an all-inclusive. We managed to book 6 à la carte restaurants during our 7-day stay, which was impressive. While the booking app was glitchy at first, they released an update that helped resolve the issues. Room service deserves a special mention—it was hands down the best and most efficient we’ve ever experienced. Our swim-up room was fantastic—spacious, relaxing, and a real highlight of the stay, aside from the occasional raccoon stopping by to beg for food. The grounds throughout the resort are spotless, beautifully maintained, and the shuttle service is excellent, making it easy to get around. One thing to note: this isn’t the resort to choose if a perfect beach is your top priority. However, everything else more than makes up for it. Overall, we had an amazing experience and would absolutely return. Highly recommend for exceptional service, great food, and a welcoming atmosphere.

We had a great time. The resort was very nice, clean. We enjoyed the entertainment. Very grateful for the buffet & restaurants staff for accommodating our daughter who has multiple food allergies. The buffet cooked meals specially for her. A few things that could be improved: booking an a la carte restaurant: was quite difficult as there were not many spots available. And they also had some issues with their app. Also, the pools were cold - they were pretty empty (but we were there in an unusual cold weather for them - end of Jan)

We stayed in Villa 58 which is a renovated villa, and overall it was a great experience. The beaches and resort grounds are both very well taken care of, and the staff were all very helpful and professional. We only had 4 real issues during our stay: 1. The mattress was extremely firm, it made sleeping difficult and we woke up every day with sore backs. 2. All moveable furniture in the rooms (chairs and tables) do not have pads on the feet and you can hear them being dragged from multiple rooms over. We were woken up multiple times by other guests moving furniture for this reason. 3. The walls and floors are very thin. We could hear what our neighbors were saying and we could hear them walking. Hope that your neighbors are quiet people or you will absolutely hear them through your walls. 4. Make sure you check the current exchange rate, as vendors will inflate it without telling you. I want to reiterate that the hotel itself does not do this to my knowledge, but the vendors they allow on site (in the lobby) do. This practice is sneaky and unprofessional. Keep your wits about you and double check everything when exchanging money for services.

Had a lovely vacation. Amazing staff who are very kind and attentive especially Elizabeth, Jonathan, and the entertainment staff at the main Akumal pool. We were visiting as part of a large group so I didn’t know what to expect but the service was wonderful from all the staff we interacted with. One downside was that we could not all be seated together for the a la carte dinners despite none of the restaurants being fully booked. We were told that they don’t seat tables with more than eight people because otherwise it would be too loud. We also were only given late seatings 8:30-9:00 and that was not the most appreciated by the wait staff (not that they gave us worse service because of the timing though!). The hotel complex is quite large but the shuttles are plentiful and frequent. Our room was lovely and in one of the updated villas which was a nice surprise. Lots of wildlife on the property too. If you’re into birdwatching you’ll definitely see a few unique specimens without having to leave the hotel! Breakfast buffet 10/10. What a wonderful first visit to the Yucatan peninsula!
