We just stayed at the W, Las Vegas (Formerly The Delano) on Wed-Sat (Sept 10-13), for a 3 day getaway. I previously stayed here when it was the Delano, and liked the room very much. But to be honest nothing has changed, nothing was upgraded, nothing added, other than then the name. If you are going to brand your hotel as a W, then it should live up to that reputation. The beds are comfortable, and it is nice, as they are suites, and they offer the extra half bath, which is very convenient, but I think that's where it ends. No fridge, no coffee maker, no microwave, nothing. These are all items, that even many of the most basic hotels offer, but not here. Sadly. The staff were all courteous and professional, but no one went above or beyond. As far as the overall amenities, the location is farthest from the strip, but within the hotel at Mandalay, it has everything you might need, restaurants, the casino, shows, sports book, etc. The Beach at Mandalay is sublime, we went on Thursday and spent the entire day, it was glorious! The weather was perfect (91 degrees!) and it was not crowded, being mid-week, so we really had a great day, the service was good, and the price for our own lounge chairs w/ umbrella worth every penny ($120)! But everything here is on the higher end of the price range. So overall, I give it a 3.5 stars, out of 5.

So disappointed. We booked at the Mandalay Bay and took advantage of their option to bid for an upgrade. Sure, I thought, $72 for a king suite, yes please! I also paid for early check in ($40) because I had an 11am meeting I had to dial in to. We got to the Mandalay Bay where I had originally reserved, but despite paying for early check in, I was told that the room wasn't available to check in. I stood in line at the Mandalay Bay and was told that my bid for the King suite was accepted (yay) but that we had to drive to the W for the room. This was literally a mile drive all the way around the property. Then we parked (prepaid for self parking at $20 for the day), got out bags, found the elevator and rode to the 7th floor for our corner suite, at the end of a very long hallway. Needless to say, I missed my meeting. The room was tired, smelled bad, and had a view of the roof of the casino. We went down to the pool. To get there, you have to walk the length of the Mandalay Bay casino, then down the elevator, then finally outside. If we were staying in the Mandalay Bay, the elevator would have taken us right to the pool level. As others have noticed, there is no separate pool for the W. There is a Keurig coffee maker in the room, but they charge you $16 to make your own coffee from a K Cup into a Styrofoam cup. Yep, no coffee cups in the room either. We never used the living room part of our room. As far as I could tell, there were only downsides to our "upgrade": - farther from the pool - confusing check in experience - bad smell in the hallway - overpriced coffee from the in-room coffee maker I can't think of anything that would make me want to come back to this, or actually any W Hotel after this experience.

The suite-style rooms are spacious, modern, and perfect for relaxing after a long night out. It’s got that upscale vibe without being over-the-top. One of the best perks? You get full access to Mandalay Bay’s pool complex — including the wave pool, which is always a good time. Whether you're looking to chill or party poolside, it's got you covered. Quiet, classy, and connected to the action. I keep coming back for a reason.

Disappointing Experience at the W Hotel I had higher expectations for the W Hotel, but several aspects of my stay were frustrating and disappointing. First, it felt incredibly inconsiderate that the in-room fridge was completely stocked with overpriced alcohol and water, leaving no space to store anything of my own. It's clearly designed to push sales rather than offer convenience to guests. The hallways constantly smelled like cigarette smoke or marijuana. The smell was overwhelming at times and gave me headaches on at least three different occasions. For a hotel of this caliber, I expected better air quality and enforcement of non-smoking policies. I also attempted to book a cabana online, but the hotel’s website was down for an extended period. By the time I was finally able to make the reservation, the price had jumped by $50. When we did get the cabana—at $575—I expected at least a semi-private, relaxing experience. Instead, there were people constantly wandering into our area to take photos of the pool, standing right in front of our chairs. The setup was nearly identical to the general pool area in terms of access and space, so I truly don’t understand what the extra charge was for besides a towel and a nameplate. To top it all off, the in-room hairdryer actually burned my hair, which caused damage and made me late for dinner while trying to fix the mess. For the premium price point and branding, the W Hotel should offer a far more polished and guest-focused experience. Unfortunately, this stay left me disappointed and unlikely to return.

Not recommended! While the room itself was spotless and very nicely designed, the overall stay was extremely disappointing. In the middle of August, with temperatures reaching 35–38°C every day, most of the pools were closed. The private pool belonging to the hotel I specifically booked was completely unavailable, leaving guests with no choice but to use the facilities of the neighboring Mandalay Bay. Even there, only the lazy river and the wave pool were open—neither of which allowed for peaceful relaxation or swimming. When I asked the staff why the pools were shut down, I received vague and contradictory explanations, including claims about possible storms. This made little sense, since all the pools are located next to each other, yet only some were kept open. It honestly looked less like a weather concern and more like pure cost-cutting—pretending it was due to “bad weather” while in reality simply not wanting to open the main pool. For a property that advertises itself as one of the most exclusive hotels in Las Vegas, this kind of dishonesty is outrageous. You pay premium prices expecting premium service, but instead are pushed into overcrowded pools at Mandalay Bay, and even there not all facilities are available. The worst part is the way guests are treated. Instead of offering a clear explanation or compensation, the staff’s response was essentially that if I didn’t like it, I could move to another hotel. Every day I saw other guests equally frustrated, asking the same questions and getting no real answers. This is not just poor service, it feels like deliberate deception of paying customers. Absolutely unacceptable, deeply disappointing, and certainly not what one would expect from a so-called top Las Vegas hotel. I cannot recommend this place to anyone.
