We traveled in January 2026 as two adult couples with no children. This is a very family-friendly resort with excellent amenities for kids, including a water park, climbing walls, zip line, baby/kid/teen clubs, VR stations, movie theater, trampoline park, and indoor playground. The pool areas were clean and well maintained. We spent most of our time at the adults-only pool, which was quiet and relaxing, with no children, plenty of daybeds and loungers, and easy access to a snack bar and drink bar. We never had trouble finding seating and never needed to reserve beds early, which was a big plus. Dining was very good overall. The Mexican, Italian, and steakhouse restaurants all had large menus and quality food, and we were happy to revisit each one. Drinks were a standout, especially at the English pub — Edwin was an excellent bartender who made well-balanced cocktails and creative custom drinks. Bars close at 11 p.m., but a disco opens at that time and runs until about 1 a.m. We enjoyed it on one of the busier nights, though the resort could do a better job advertising adult evening activities, as many guests didn’t know it existed. Rooms were clean and spacious, though housekeeping was occasionally inconsistent with restocking towels and water. The beach had noticeable seaweed during our stay, but the sand was soft and there were plenty of loungers. There are nightly shows at 9 p.m. and lots to do overall. There was an adequate gym and spa that offered massages abs hydrotherapy. There is also a cute kids salon in the spa. This resort is especially well-suited for families, but for adults without children, the adults-only pool made for a comfortable and enjoyable stay, as long as you don’t mind kids in shared spaces.

We booked Sensira Resort & Spa about a year in advance based on strong reviews and were very excited. Unfortunately, our experience did not live up to expectations. The arrival was pleasant — cool towels, a beautiful and great-smelling lobby — but check-in was very slow. Our room was clean and a good size, but the other family we traveled with had serious issues: stained furniture, black damage on a piece of furniture, and black mold in the shower. They were able to change rooms after one night, but this was concerning. The beach is close to the hotel, but the sargassum problem is severe. The water was muddy brown and completely unusable, and the smell was awful when seaweed washed ashore. You do not get the turquoise ocean views shown in photos. Pools were also freezing cold, and there were not enough pool chairs. My husband had to go down at 7 a.m. every day to try to secure chairs, and even then it was difficult. The advertised swim-up bar was never open — staff gave conflicting answers — which felt misleading. The biggest issue was that 3 out of 4 adults in our group got very sick (vomiting, diarrhea, fever) for several days, which completely ruined the all-inclusive experience. Thankfully, none of the kids got sick, but this should not be happening at a resort that claims everything is filtered. Food options were very limited. La Pergola is the only buffet and was repetitive, crowded after 9 a.m., and slow to restock items. Lunch options were mostly limited to the snack bar, which became boring quickly. Dinner restaurants were hit or miss, with inconvenient reservation rules. On a positive note, the resort is extremely kid-friendly. Our kids loved the shows, movie theater, trampoline, games, and activities. However, both kids clubs need serious cleaning and updates — one had a terrible smell. Overall, Sensira has potential, but between illness, food quality, misleading amenities, lack of seating, cold pools, and ocean conditions, it fell far short. We wanted to love it, but we would not return.

7/10. Good food and nice layout of hotel. Good service. Only four years old but already showing some age with stains on walls and pools do not seem to be cleaned often. The kids club was very dirty!!! and they only clean once a week. Same garbage on the floor all week but staff doesn’t seem to mind when I asked. Overall hotel Could use more attention to detail and have staff more proactive with tidying up and pickup up litter on beach or at hotel. Nice and swimable beach! which is not common for most parts of cancun.

Communication prior to arrival was not the best. I emailed the resort before our trip and didn’t receive a response until four days later. The majority of the staff were friendly and welcoming. There were a couple of staff members who were less approachable, but they seemed overworked, so it was understandable. The location is great—about a 25-minute drive from the airport and right on the beach. Unfortunately, the beach itself was not swimmable during our stay. There was a large amount of seaweed on the shore, which I believe was not expected in January. There were people removing it every other day but the amout was too much to keep it under control. We did attempt to go into the ocean, but the water was brown with debris floating around, making it unpleasant. The pools were quite cold, although once you’re in, it’s manageable. There is only one hot tub, and it’s located in the adults-only pool area. We dined at all four restaurants. Wait times were very long with food arriving 40-60 minutes after being seated. Overall, the food was mediocre. The pasta and pizza were particularly disappointing. The poolside restaurant, however, was a highlight, offering freshly made food that was quite good. The buffet was decent if you went early; arriving later meant many items had run out. I noticed mold at many places including the main lobby. I am sensitive to mold smell so I noticed it right a way but rest of my family was fine. They have automatic scent diffuser at many places around the resort to pump out a scent. It was too much for me. Maybe it was to cover up the mold smell? The kids’ areas and activities were well designed for children aged 4 to 7. There are height restrictions for activities like zip-lining and rock climbing, so younger children couldn’t participate. For kids older than eight, the activities may feel too limited or boring, as they are clearly geared toward younger children. This resort is ideal for families with young children. I’ve never seen so many kids at a resort. However, if your children are older, I would recommend looking elsewhere.

As a family of 5, we were all super excited when we got to the resort. First impressions were excellent and the kids were all so excited. After about 20 minutes of waiting for a single guest in front of us to get checked in, doubts started to creep in. I'm not sure what the process is, or if it's an issue with improper equipment, but a couple of guests checking into the hotel should not take 45 minutes; the front desk needed more staff, or they need a better check-in system. We all thought the food was above average, some options even being quite delicious. The service at the buffet and restaurants was friendly and prompt, and the workers definitely earned their tips. We had a room with bunk beds and the hotel provided us with a crib for our younger son, which was perfect. However, our room was on the bottom level of the resort and although it was convenient, we noticed that the balcony doors didn't have any way to lock. No one answered my several calls to the front desk, so I went there and discovered why... They were checking in 2 more guests...and it took over 40 minutes. Yes, I waited 40 minutes behind these guests checking in before I was helped, just for them to tell me they would send someone to look at the door. No one came. I had to tie a towel around the two door handles at night to give my wife peace of mind. Apart from that the experience was excellent. We had a lot of fun just staying at the resort and trying out the restaurants (though we unfortunately didn't get to try the steakhouse as it was closed for most of our stay). The reason this hotel gets a 1-star from me is because of the last two days. The hotel gave us no notice, indication, or any communication whatsoever as to the reason the buffet, two restaurants, and the snack bar by the pool would be closed. They had a group of I would guess 500 Jewish people come into the hotel, and us peasant customers were segregated to the basement as a result, as everything had to be converted to Kosher. THIS is completely and utterly ridiculous and unacceptable. We are paying customers, we paid full price, and they treated us like second class citizens in order to appease another large party's religion. The hotel should have been transparent and communicated these things to their guests, and they should have issued compensation for services missed. What did the hotel do as compensation? Nothing. The hotel manager told us that they would issue us a certificate that would allow us one day free...if we booked ANOTHER trip there. Honestly it was more of an insult to us than it was a way of compensation. There are so many other resorts to go to...which I would recommend to consider before booking your next trip here. This hotel needs a very serious management change, and they need to make things right with their guests who had their experience completely tainted.
