We’ve been to Sugar Bay twice as we enjoyed staying there so much. The staff are extremely friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The food is excellent and there’s always plenty of it. The on site restaurants are fabulous, particularly the steak house, the quality is superb. We stayed in a family room which was more than large enough, always clean and only took a couple of minutes walk to the pool and beach. The beach and water facilities are superb, it really is a wonderful place to be.

A wonderful staff that is very hospitable! Older building but very well maintained, rooms & facilities are excellent, service spot-on, and cocktails were great. Views on beach were amazing, great live music at night! Only thing that was amiss for us was the food was just decent. Meanwhile there are some great restaurants on this island. Overall our experience was almost 5 stars!! You will have an amazing time here if u stay

We stayed at Sugar bay for 10 night's in March 2024. In an Oceanfront room which was comfortable & well equipped. Food was consistently of a high standard throughout our stay whether in the main Reef restaurant or one of the speciality offerings. Lovely beach area with sufficient sunbed & shades available. Staff made us feel very welcome and were friendly & helpful. Wi-fi was very good throughout the property Whilst on check out we were unable to extend the room beyond 12 noon the hotel hospitality suite was very well equipped, so we were able to make the most of our final day. Overall a great stay and we would see Sugar Bay worth another visit in future.

My adult family had a fantastic stay! The front desk was extremely accommodating after a booking mishap and the staff, especially the staff at the Reef was extremely attentive and friendly. This resort is beautifully designed and has a very nice aesthetic from the lobby to the rooms to the buffet furniture, which is something I haven’t seen at other hot destination resorts. It is located close to all attractions— our favourite was walking along the Boardwalk & visiting the horses in the morning at Peebles beach. Overall, fantastic stay!

Our family’s experience at Sugar Bay Barbados was uneven and didn’t live up to the 4 star rating and the reviews here. There are some positives to the resort - the beach is outstanding, many of rooms and the facilities are family-friendly, the food and beverage venues were in beautiful spots, and the food and drinks were good for an all-inclusive resort at this price level. We still had a great time (as did most other guests we met) but there were too many letdowns to recommend Sugar Bay. The biggest letdown was the service. We didn’t expect 5 star levels of attentiveness and pampering but with the exception of the beach staff and a the bartenders much of the staff at Sugar Bay were indifferent, missing in action, or short-tempered. We had to chase down waiters to refill waters and bring missing silverware; one grumbled about us making her do extra work when we ordered an iced coffee (which was on the drinks menu). When we got locked out of our room after the batteries on our door died while we were at the beach we had to go to the front desk 3 times until they finally sent someone up to let us in. Sometimes there wouldn’t be water or fresh towels at the beach and when asked when we could expect them the staff would just shrug and say they didn’t know. The pool was far too small for the number of guests and was simultaneously kid-unfriendly and adult-unfriendly - when the kids pool filled up small children ended up splashing around the area by the swim-up bar. Getting from the beach to the pool was an unpleasant journey with small children that required crossing a stretch of slippery tiles and then navigating through the main restaurant’s outdoor seating. The bottom of the pool was very rough and cut up our kids’ toes along with some of the other children they were playing with. The restaurant hours and policies were also annoying with two small children. No food was available between 10:00-12:00 and 4:00-6:30. You could get food for takeaway but they were very strict about only eating at restaurants or in your room so there was no way to eat by the pool or at the beach. All of the restaurants were geared towards full sit down meals and there weren’t any easy places to grab a snack. Much of Sugar Bay didn’t quite match the photos on their site. While the beach really is as spectacular as it looks, the rest of the public areas were more worn, smaller, and more crowded. Our room was not quite as fresh as the photos made it seem, with peeling paint here and there and a somewhat dingy bathroom. The bed and sheets weren’t great. We still really enjoyed our time in Barbados and by no means was our stay at Sugar Bay a disaster but it didn’t meet our expectations for a 4 star hotel at this price point.
