My husband and I stayed at Hammock Cove for six nights in March 2026 and spent about $11,300 for the stay alone (not including flights or airport transportation), so I want to frame this review with that context. We had a nice trip overall, but the experience didn’t really match the five-star price point. The villas are beautiful, spacious, and very comfortable. The beds were great, the AC worked extremely well, and surprisingly we didn’t see a single mosquito the entire stay. The views are gorgeous and the included water activities were a lot of fun. Most of the staff were also very kind and welcoming. Where things fell short was mostly the service details and the dining, which were two reasons we were so excited to stay at HC in the first place unfortunately. The resort advertises Michelin-level dining, but the food was candidly pretty average - outside of the all inclusive, we didn't have one meal we would actually pay for to eat again if we had a chance to in the real world - and the options were limited (although the Lighthouse menu changed every day, but not as much variation as we thought there’d be). There are only two main restaurants for dinner (and a third in the lobby) and the same lobby restaurant is the only lunch option (and the only breakfast option), so by the end of the trip we had pretty much memorized the menus. One evening we even tried to switch dinner reservations and were told they couldn’t accommodate us, yet there were several open tables when we walked by, which wasn’t a big deal, but disappointing given where our expectations were on the service / other reviews we read. We also paid extra for a “waterfront villa,” but ours sat directly above the resort beach with almost no privacy - people on the beach could easily see straight into the room (pic attached). Some “waterfront villas” appear to sit directly over the water while others overlook the beach, but they’re all sold under the same category, which wasn’t very clear when booking. A good portion of the waterview villas (the slightly less expensive option) don’t have a view of the water, either, so just keep that in mind! A few other things fell short: watered-down drinks at the beach bar, inconsistent ambassador service, a small beach with limited chairs, and showers that ran out of hot water after about 10 minutes. It’s a beautiful property, but at this price point it felt underwhelming.

We recently stayed at Hammock Cove Antigua and had the most wonderful experience. From start to finish, the service was absolutely first class. The new General Manager, Lucinda, is outstanding warm, present, and clearly leading a brilliant team. You really feel the care and dedication throughout the resort. We particularly loved our ambassador, Matara, who was fantastic, and Julio on the beach was superb. In truth, every member of staff we encountered was a credit to the hotel sadly we can’t remember everyone’s name, but they were all wonderful. As very well travelled Europeans who frequently stay at high-end resorts, we don’t say this lightly Hammock Cove is exceptional, and we cannot recommend it highly enough. A truly special place.

Gorgeous quiet hotel with great sea view villas. Was nice to have own space in the villa and have a balcony to sit and relax and dip in own pool. Steakhouse was fantastic food. Lighthouse 7 course meal and wine pairing was good. Great choice for breakfast. Pool area and beach was beautiful and everywhere was very clean. Some things to improve is the room service meals were disappointing, snacks need to be provided in rooms and at the bars, more treadmills in gym as it gets very busy in the mornings, more lighting around the pathways at nighttime. Little shout out to these people who work at Hammock Cove and helped us during our stay : Collet who was our waitress at Irena's. Most smiley and friendly person. Lady at the shop who was super friendly and helpful. Tracy on reception who booked our taxis and excursions. Andre, Erick, Nigel, She Maque, Akeila who were great Bar tenders. Feb our waiter at the lighthouse and steak house Julio , Nazim, Joshua, Dorman. Beach and Pool guys. Tasscia our waitress at Breakfast Gabriel rum barman who made great cocktails and coffees in the morning. Spa staff who were great for our treatments.

This resort is what honeymoon dreams are made of. The moment we arrived we knew this would be different then any all inclusive we’re been to. This was pure luxury! We arrived early but were super taken care of while we waited. A nice drink and a snack to hold us over! Once our villa was ready, our luggage was delivered before us and we were then picked up via golf cart and shown around the grounds. Getting to our villa, oh my. We walked in and were in awe. It’s private, huge, stocked with everything you might need. You have your large living/sleeping area. Your enormous luxury bathroom with double showers and a walk in closet. Then the star of the show is your private patio complete with your own plunge pool. You’re given a cell phone to contact your ambassadors, 24/7. Which is a super cool touch we’ve never had before. You can call them for anything, room service, questions, suggestions, help, restocking, anything. The ambassadors are such a treat and all 3 of ours were so friendly. Constantly making sure we were taken care of! The pools and beach are calm, beautiful and relaxing. You have luxury service anywhere you are. They’ll come to you and bring you anything you want. The restaurants were all delicious. You never know how your stomach will behave in another country and on a resort… Antigua never showed us any trouble. Elevated dining experiences for sure. Our favorite was the steak house. We loved trying all the sides. We tired to experience all the food and alllll the desserts and they didn’t disappoint. This place is once in a lifetime, but we already decided we will absolutely treat ourselves and go back. This was the most perfect place to end our honeymoon.

This was our second trip to Hammock Cove and we have noticed a few changes, both good and bad. The biggest change seems to be in the level of service. The first time we arrived at the resort, attendants were waiting at the entrance to greet us, take our bags, offer a hot towel and a drink. This was such an amazing treat after a long travel day. Unfortunately, this didn’t happen this time. There was no one to greet us at arrival. We only received a drink and towel upon entering the main building on our own. We noticed a pattern of extremely slow service, as the week continued, especially with getting drinks on the beach and food at breakfast. Sometimes you couldn’t get anyone for ages to ask to bring you a drink on the beach. If you went to the bar and ordered yourself, it was a long time before they came. Sometimes 40 minutes or longer for one drink. I ordered some gelato one day on the beach and it took 1.5 hrs to come. I was just packing up to go back to my room when it arrived…..without a spoon. 😂 the waiter said he’d bring one. He never came back. I waited a good while and then left it. This was kind of the status quo of service for the week. Often I felt the waiters/waitresses seemed annoyed or grumpy to take orders. I honestly felt as if it was a bother to request a coffee at times. Not a great feeling after spending so much money. It didn’t matter how pleasant we were or that we tipped as well. Our first time at the resort, the staff was a lot more pleasant. Our room was always stocked with drinks. This time we had to ask when things ran out and we noticed they weren’t refilled. The beach could use some cleaning in regards to the floating pads and buoys that anchor them. The buoys are covered in black and green slime so if you are in the water and they rub up against you, they leave brown/green slime on you. Pretty gross. The underside of these things are a green slime as well, so when people get on and off them, they tip up and slime falls off in long strings where you are floating/swimming. I would also consider adding some soft foam around the stone anchors on the sea floor for these water pads or maybe a vertical buoy marker so you know where it is. More than once, I stubbed my toe on them. Ouch. The food was very good overall. The weakest meal is breakfast in the main building. The eggs are often way overdone and mostly dry. Bacon was often burnt. They seemed to be out of some things each day. One day was ham, then bananas, etc. Just very random. A few times, the orders were wrong. Not a big deal but was just part of the overall drop in attention to detail and service. The rooms are great overall. The tv situation is pretty abysmal. They need to upgrade to smart TVs so you can use your own streaming accounts. The cable tv offerings are very limited. Mostly news and sports. Beds are super comfy. It doesn’t matter greatly as we aren’t there to watch TV but would be nice on a rainy day and late at night when winding down. For a resort of this caliber and price, this upgrade should be a given in 2025. Our room needed a bit of TLC in the bathroom. Some visible patching and stains on the walls. Just a good deep clean would go a long way. Oddly, there was no phone charger anymore in the rooms for the attendant cell phones. Our battery died on day two and we had to organize getting that charged. They had chargers in the rooms the first time we came. A nice addition, however, was the beach bag for use in the room. This was so handy and much appreciated! Would I return? I’m not sure. Leaning towards not. At the price point, things need to improve to the level of service that they used to be. As it is now, there are plenty of other resorts/vacation spots for the price that meet or exceed expectations. If service improves I would return but the overall experience has put me off for now. It’s a shame as our first experience here was impeccable and we were looking forward to this second trip.
