We stayed at The Marmara Park Avenue for a week while my husband was undergoing open heart surgery, and I cannot say enough wonderful things about our experience. Rachel was so kind and accommodating and went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. Every member of the staff was warm, friendly, and attentive. The room was great and the bed was incredibly comfortable, which made such a difference during a very stressful time. I am so grateful for the care and hospitality we received. The hotel offered a sense of calm and comfort that truly helped us through a difficult week. We will definitely be back again, hopefully for much happier reasons next time.

Let me start off by saying, i don't know how this hotel sits at 5 stars. Must be the location or the pictures but it simply does not go higher than a 3. One positive i will give it is the location, right next to the 6 train and the empire state building, a few blocks from central park, this is a very happening location, with lots to do nearby. However, stepping inside is where you realize you did NOT get what you paid for. I booked a room with a balcony, clearly stated on the pictures, even got a more expensive room because it had the balcony, but lo and behind, no balcony in our room. Next, we get situated and decide to take a shower before dinner, nope. The shower hose is ripped at the top and starts spraying water out of the shower. Thankfully, the maintenance service was speedy about this, but im not sure how a hotel could not notice such a faulty part when doing the room cleaning. Let me also say, the staff was EXTREMELY kind and welcoming, they honestly made the experience much better, and if theres any positives, its the lovely people that work there. Lastly, the Turkish Bath and Spa they boast so highly about were closed the entire time we were there and the Turkish Bath WILL be closed until next year (as we were told by the staff) although this is not listed anywhere on the website. Additionally, the picture of the pool mustve been extremely edited and taken in extra wide lense because the pool room is the size of a small spa with a kiddy pool size pool. Actually kind of ridiculous. I tried so hard to like this place but PLEASE save your money and go to another hotel in the area or spend a little more and stay somewhere nicer. PS the elevators feel like theyre from the 1950's and shake and rattle the entire way up.

Enjoyed our stay here. Chose this hotel because of the location, near to where relatives live and close to lots of shops and restaurants. I want to end on a positive note, so I'll start with opportunities for improvement: 1) elevators - shabby and dingy, slow and creaky. 2) hallways - what were they thinking??? Black walls, black ceilings, black floors, very dim lighting. We could barely see where we were going. It felt like we were descending into a dungeon. 3) room - very small, no comfortable seat to sit down on, no table to put a plate on. 4) bathroom - also very small, no counter to put toiletries on, the door was a mirror so you had to look at yourself while on the throne. Now for the positives: 1) very nice, spacious, tastefully decorated lobby. 2) staff was SUPER friendly and attentive. I forgot my toothbrush and one was brought to the room within 5 minutes. I asked how we could turn off the AC fan and someone was there within minutes to assist. We were allowed to store our luggage there for the day after we checked out. 3) bed was very comfortable. Best sleep I've had in weeks (probably the booze I drank the previous 8 hours helped). 4) room had a small kitchen - appreciated having a fridge, cutlery, crockery, coffee maker and kettle in the room. There was also a toaster. Maybe add a small microwave oven? 5) clean, clean, clean - I'm very picky about this. Room and bathroom were immaculate. Not a hair from someone else's body anywhere. 6) floor of the shower was not in the least slippery. Individual tiles eliminated falling hazard. I would be happy to stay here again

I stayed at the Marmara for one night on a last-minute trip to NYC and it was the worst five-star hotel experience of my life. I regret not opting for the cheaper four-star option that I was offered instead. I woke up covered in spider bites from my face to my hands and had an allergic reaction (as you can imagine). I had to request hand soap late at night. When I did so, I was told by the operator that the hotel has discontinued providing guests hand soap and that they'd make a special exception for me. Worst of all, the hotel staff service was horrendous. In less than 12 hours, the staff was unable to communicate simple messages about the same topic amongst each other, and I was charged a late check out fee as a result. I only received an "apology" from the front desk once they realized that I wasn't a child and that I was traveling for business-related reasons. If my only option to visit NYC involved staying here, I would forgo traveling altogether. I mulled about staying here and deeply regret it. DO NOT STAY HERE!

Great experience here. The only con I’d mention is the pool floor. The tiles need to be redone on the floor of the pool. They are peeling off of the ground and missing in certain areas and it feels dirty to walk on the floor of the pool with the peeling missing tiles lol. But other than that it was amazing and beautiful and the service was absolutely wonderful.
