We've stayed at this hotel in the past but not since pre-Covid. This time was very disappointing! Hotel is clean but dated. The mattress was extremely uncomfortable! We had two terrible night's sleep. The bedding and towels are old, dinghy, scratchy and thin. The blankets were not warm and the cover was very scratchy and uncomfortable. Only one elevator works so expect to wait at least 5 minutes for the elevator most of the time. The restaurant hours on Google are not accurate. It's closed even when it says it should be open. There's no real breakfast option- a few boxes of muffins, some bananas and pears.
The pros- location is good, large mini fridge with freezer in room was convenient; microwave in room. Directly above ACE train so easy access to Penn Station, Times Sq, Rock Center.

Location, rooms, and staff (to some extent) were great. Unfortunately, during our last night we came back from dinner at ~10pm to our room door being open, dead bolt fully out and faceplate missing a screw. Door was fixed and we were offered to have the last night’s rate to be reimbursed for the inconvenience, only to find out at check out that it was not going to happen (we received 50% off, likely because I complained). Not the birthday night I was expecting to have, so I won’t stay here again, nor recommend it. It didn’t feel safe for 2 women traveling alone.

The elevator is disastrous,I ended up using the stairs each time and I was on the sixth floor. I had to wait an hour for a room and nearly froze in the lobby. The staff wasn't the friendliest. I had a towel that had brown spots on it,that should've been thrown away.. Customer service is useless and told me Marriot is better. Location was perfect, right by the train.

We have stayed at this hotel a bunch of times over the years, most recently in Oct 2024. There are a lot of great things about it and some not-so-great things. The front desk staff are very friendly, and the rooms are very clean. They are surprisingly spacious for Manhattan hotel rooms. We have stayed at much fancier places with much smaller rooms where 2 people literally couldn't walk around at the same time. The HGI Tribeca rooms are not huge, but they are comfortable for 2 adults. The bed was comfy, but the pillows are pretty flat and insubstantial (ask for extras), and the pseudo-duvet or whatever that thing is supposed to be is a travesty and the layers come apart and twist and rotate in different directions as soon as you get in the bed (though that is chain-wide, not just this location. But Hilton, they are AWFUL.)
Housekeeping is hit or miss. They will only even theoretically come every other day, but on the days your room is supposed to be cleaned, they may not show up till 4pm or later, even if you ask them to come earlier.
We have had consistently terrible experiences at the restaurant, so we don't even try to eat there anymore. For breakfast, the Square Diner is very close and it's a good choice.
The hotel's location is the best thing and the worst thing. It is very convenient to a lot of things, and the A/C/E, 1, 2, and various other trains are within 5-10 minutes. The A/C/E is literally right outside the door, and couldn't be more convenient. Lots of restaurants and cafes in the area, plus Little Italy and Chinatown.
The bad thing is that it is a low-rise hotel on a VERY busy street, and even worse, there is a police substation or parking lot or something RIGHT across the street, and so there are sirens blaring and blooping and screeching from dawn till after midnight, especially on the weekend, plus constant honking at all hours. If you are a light sleeper at all, ask for a room NOT facing the street, even if it means you are looking directly into another building. We have had both and trust me, there is not going to be a good view of anything no matter where in the building you are, but the noise on the street side is insane. Pick the view of the brick wall, at least it will be quiet! Or bring earplugs. I had to sleep in them every night.

I got there about 2pm, but there were no rooms available and it was raining. I came back a hour later and was able to get checked in. I bought a few snacks/drinks before going to my room(very expensive). Room was nice, but not a good view. I asked for late check out which is originally at 12pm. I was advised to call in the middle of the night to check inventory. I ordered ubereats for dinner with a drink. I was granted the late check out as a courtesy. 10am house keeping knocks then tries to enter the room the dnd sign was on the door, I told her I had late check out. Called the front desk because it’s before noon. After check out, I received a bill that I opened the room waters, why would I do that when I bought drinks? You are able to check luggage in before or after check in. Make sure you provide your Hilton number they will not ask. They do not have breakfast if they do, I wasn’t advised of it. Charge a per day deposit fee(you get back after check out) no private parking, so find a local parking garage. Elevators are slow. I would give more stars but waking me up at 10am ruined it!!
