This hotel is phenomenal and my stay was well beyond my expectations. I have stayed at many New York City hotels before, but this one is just exceptional. The hotel is beautifully furnished and the bed is super comfortable! . I must include the staff who made my stay exceptionally well. Jenny and Maria were professional, very courteous and super friendly. The lounge has amazing drinks, and the food was incredibly tasty. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone. I definitely plan to return.

We booked this hotel for our 5 year anniversary, since I had a phenomenal experience staying here 20 years ago. My husband checked us in while I was at a different Marriott property in a meeting, and the gentleman that checked us in said our room wasn’t ready but that he could go ahead and get us a room. My husband said that he would just wait, but the front desk attendant insisted, so he agreed. The room we were moved to was tiny and claustrophobic, looking nothing like the photos from booking or my past memories here. As a Gold member, I thought that we would be housed in a situation bigger than a glorified broom closet, but when I arrived and asked if we could change the room, they said this was not possible (without checking the system). We had booked 3 nights, so I asked if we could cancel the 3rd night and move to a different property, and they also said that we would not be able to be refunded for the 3rd night or cancel, or be moved to a different room on the 3rd night. Sunday rolls around, we are trying to make the most of it by just not being at the hotel, and it turns out they did not even have our reservation for Sunday night – they said they lost it. This tells me they did not even check our reservation for Sunday evening when we asked to cancel it or be moved rooms. They should have informed us Friday that we didnt have a reservation Sunday evening when we were trying to cancel that night in the first place. We saw this as a blessing, and were so thankful we were able to leave Sunday morning – many guests were also upset with the front desk for various reasons. They appeared to be short-staffed, and the people working there must be exhausted and just not care about the guests, though I felt personally attacked and frankly did not even feel comfortable staying there. We will never stay there again, and I am doing my best to forget the experience and our stay for the sake of an overall night weekend in New York. (I will note that I also worked for Marriott for 7 years, so I know the hospitality industry – and that was not 4-diamond hospitality.)
Note following checkout - The cocktail server and the other employees who were not working at the front desk were very kind and friendly. But unfortunately it did not make up for our overall experience at the property.

I had a wonderful stay at The Algonquin hotel, one of the most historic and charming hotels in New York City. As soon as I exited the cab, I was greeted by a friendly doorman who helped me with my bags and escorted me to the lobby. There, I met Marissa at the front desk, who remembered me from a previous stay. check-in process quick and easy. She also helped me locate a restaurant I was looking to visit.
My room was spacious, comfortable, and had all the amenities I needed in a NYC hotel room.
The hotel also offers a 24 hour gym. Which was modern and clean.
The bartenders were attentive and provided wonderful suggestions for drinks and dishes, all the food I tried was wonderful.
The hotel combines the allure of classic New York City charm with modern amenities and impeccable hospitality. I can't wait to come back and experience it again.

Marissa at the front desk was extremely disrespectful and unhelpful towards my 87 year old grandparents. She also had no remorse about it because I heard her say “I don’t care, let them come for me.” Very unprofessional for a hotel of this standard. Otherwise we had a great stay. The rest of the staff were beyond kind and friendly and the hotel is at a great location!

We had such a memorable experience at The Algonquin Hotel. It is perfectly situated near Times Square, a 15 minute walk to Central Park and close to a Big Bus pickup location. Also, say hello to Hamlet…the lobby 🐈!!
