Disappointing Stay
If you're looking for a spot in the middle of Chelsea for easy exploring, Selina Chelsea might seem like a good bet. But once you step inside, things go downhill pretty fast.
As you approach the reception desk, you're met with a wall of silence. The staff don't even bother to mutter a simple "hello" or "welcome." It's like they've taken a vow of silence, but forgot to tell the guests.
First off, forget about comfy carpets here. The floors are bare, which makes everything feel chilly and messy. And they don't even give you slippers to make up for it.
The bathtub? Gross. Not exactly what you want when you're trying to relax.
Noise is a big problem too. You can hear everything – your neighbours chatting, people outside your door, even loud music from the rooftop. Not exactly peaceful.
And let's talk about the staff. The folks at reception? Not friendly at all. They seem like they'd rather be anywhere else. But props to the housekeeping crew – they're nice.
Overall, Selina might look fancy in pictures, but in reality, it's just a disappointing, low-budget place with bad service. Save your money and find somewhere else to stay.

I never rate hotel rooms but I'm going to rate this one. I had a bad customer service experience across multiple employees. Also, the glass wall bathroom/shower might be fun but it's weird for a friend's weekend trip:
Chapter 1 - I prepaid online and the website froze while confirming my card. I refreshed and submitted again and then realized I had two charges for $1300 from them (I was staying there for 4 days). I called their customer service immediately (which was outsourced) and said they wouldn't offer me a cancellation refund for the duplicate booking. I finally got my money back thanks to my MasterCard team and no thanks to the Chelsea Customer Service.
Chapter 2 - When I checked into the hotel (in Chelsea), the person asked for my credit card, which I assumed was for incidentals or confirmation purposes. Instead, they handed me a reciept for an ADDITIONAL $1200. I told them that I already paid online and they proceeded to argue with me for the next 10 minutes that what I paid was just a reservation deposit. I finally got the manager in the room and after re-explaining the situation was able to confirm that I had, indeed, paid for the room already. The manager upgraded me to a king size bed as an apology.
Chapter 3 - Later the same night, after getting into my room and starting to drift to sleep (about 12:15am), I heard a door latch open. I assumed it was my travel partner getting up to use the bathroom. Then I heard my partner say "NO" and I sat up to see that another guest, with suitcase in hand, was entering the room with the key card they'd been given. Had we been out late that night, that guest would have had access to my computer and all my belongings.
Chapter 4 - I went down in the morning to inform the front desk of the problem the night before and they said "it doesn't happen very often but when it does, it's very embarrassing". I went back up to my room and found out that my key cards had been deactivated. I went back down and they re-programmed them and gave me two free drink tickets to the club in the basement.
Chapter 5 - I went to redeem my drink tickets and the bartender didn't know how to make a Manhattan.

I liked the sign I saw on the street at the first sight. The interior of room is minimal yet colorful, very modern. The staffs are super friendly and nice, they even offer a free ticket of welcome drink! The red wine I got was delicious.
It’s located in a very cute area, just next the river. Totally recommend when staying in NY

Martin really came through for me when I needed some extra toiletries late at night at Selina. Despite the hour, he was so accommodating and friendly, making sure I had everything I needed. His willingness to help out made my stay so much more comfortable. If you find yourself in need of assistance during your stay, Martin is definitely the person to ask for. Thanks again, Martin, for making sure I had everything I needed!

Loved this hotel for a quick night close to the office. I would have loved to grab a drink but my schedule did not permit. Very trendy but a smaller bed and loud shower. Great water pressure and a nice warm shower. Everything was very clean and the staff could not have been more friendly or helpful.
