It is a great resort, truly a 5-star experience! Everything was fantastic, especially food and service. The service level is one of the best I have ever experienced. The hotel has two parts and the modern one (Avani+) is quite different from the older part overlooking the river. The water boat and taxis is the best way to get around, because traffic in Bangkok may be brutal. It was a very pleasant trip and stay at this resort.

Hotel itself is fine but pool is way too small for a hotel of this size and absolutely packed with children and people drinking around the bar. Not a calming or romantic vibe.
Hotel rooms are very muggy, shower is very small and has mold.
Service is very mid compared to other hotels of the same class, seems like not enough staff, no servers at the pool etc.
Surprised by the other reviews. IMO does not rate as a 5 star compared to other 5 stars in BKK, would have left early if we could.

The room we have is great, and the property is beautiful but if you are coming here for the pool make sure you enjoy pools packed with kids. If you are a family this is probably a decent spot. Not great for anyone looking for a relaxed or quiet environment.

We love the Anantara chain but this wasn’t my favourite property. It’s starting to look a bit tired, and it’s also quite far out of the main part of Bangkok (which is my own fault for not checking the location more carefully) at around 1hr 20 from the main airport by taxi, and if you want to take public transport it involves multiple changes. The pool is lovely and a decent selection of food available to order at the pool including a nice vegan burger. We enjoyed the cocktails at the bar right by the riverside and they had nice complimentary snacks also.
It was fine for a short stop on our way to somewhere else in Thailand but I don’t think I’d stay here again or for a longer period than 1 night. If we were back in Bangkok I think I’d try the Anantara Siam next time which is more centrally located. We left very early in the morning so I can’t comment on the breakfast either.

If you like 1990s style Thai design in its original state, i.e. not renovated for the last 20 years, dark rooms, everything has seen better days and being in a pretty down part of an otherwise great city, then this is for you.
For anyone else you can do significantly better for the same money elsewhere in Bangkok
