Are Qatar Holidays Expensive?

Qatar is a luxury destination, so if you’re craving the high life, prepare to splash the cash. That being said, there are cheap holidays to be found and plenty of money-saving tips to take advantage of. If you’re free to visit Qatar whenever you like, avoiding the peak travel months of November to March, when travel prices are higher, is a good way to save on your trip. To cut costs when exploring, seek out free attractions including the Katara Cultural Village, Souq Waqif, Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art, or the Corniche. Using public transport, such as the Doha Metro or the Karwa bus service, is also recommended as a cheaper alternative to taxis. For cheap eats, the local souks are convenient places to sample authentic street food. They are also great spots to shop for holiday bargains and traditional souvenirs.

Can I Go All-Inclusive?

Yes, you certainly can enjoy an all-inclusive holiday in Qatar, with a number of hotels offering guests the chance to enjoy a completely carefree escape. Choosing this option will allow you to enjoy a variety of dining delights for breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as an array of refreshing drinks right throughout your stay. Some luxury hotel concepts include access to gourmet a la carte restaurants, along with the opportunity to enjoy activities, water sports, spas, fitness centres and a spectrum of other leisure features. This is perfect for couples seeking indulgent pampering and massage sessions without the extra cost, or active friends and families craving fun and excitement. Children are also taken into consideration and can often enjoy ice creams, special menus and access to kids clubs. Going all-inclusive is definitely the way to go for a hassle-free holiday in Qatar.

How Long Should I Stay?

Qatar is an enthralling destination with so much to see and do. Staying a week or longer gives you time to fully immerse yourself in the wonders on offer and enjoy a little beach relaxation as well. Doha Quest, a spectacular indoor theme park boasting the world’s tallest indoor roller coaster, and the aquatic playground of Desert Falls Water & Adventure Park are two attractions not to be missed by families. Adventure-seeking friends can enjoy camel rides, quad biking, sandboarding and jeep safaris in the desert, while exploring the luxury hotels, boutiques and elevated dining destinations of the Pearl-Quarter, might be on the agenda of couples. Spellbinding beauty can be found amidst the mangroves of Bin Ghannam Island, looking across the dunes and waters of Khor Al Adaid, or on the wind-sculpted lunar landscape of Ras Abrouq. Cultural delights on offer include the Museum of Islamic Art, Imam Abdul Wahhab Mosque and Al Koot Fort.

What Do I Need To Take?

With warm weather all year round, it’s essential you pack wisely. Light clothing, swimwear and protection from the sun are musts, with sunglasses, lip balm and sun cream all-important items to go in your case. Suitable footwear for activities and excursions should also be considered, with sandals and flip flops perfect for the pool or beach, but less than ideal for exploring the desert dunes or taking in the city sights. While outside of your hotel complex, it’s also worth considering local cultures and traditions, ensuring you pack conservative clothes that cover your shoulders and knees. Other items to put in your case include insect repellant and a light jacket if you’re travelling in the cooler months. When it comes to taking electrical equipment, the most commonly used plug in Qatar is the standard 3-pin plug used in the UK. However, it’s also wise to take a travel adapter just in case.

Can I Visit During Ramadan?

You certainly can visit Qatar during Ramadan. Choosing to take your holiday during the most sacred month in the Muslim calendar will allow you to immerse yourself in an assortment of exciting cultural experiences and embrace the beguiling history and traditions of this magical destination. You’ll have the chance to join in the celebrations and enjoy the festivities and feasts at the end of the day. Dining venues generally remain closed during the daytime and visitors are encouraged not to eat, drink and smoke in public. Hotel restaurants continue to operate, before all outlets burst into life after sunset with special events to mark Iftar, the breaking of the fast. The majority of Qatar’s tourist attractions also stay open during Ramadan, with water parks, theme parks, museums and malls all welcoming visitors, and some even offering special discounts.

Best Time To Visit

Qatar enjoys a desert climate and is blessed with superb weather and glorious sunshine all year round. This means it’s a great destination whatever the season and the best time to visit depends on your preference for hot summers or pleasant winters. If you’re craving poolside relaxation, laid-back beach days or water park action, you’ll find the time from April to November ideal, when average high temperatures can top 30°C. During the summer months, from June to August, the mercury can rise above 40°C, with 14 hours of sunshine a day the norm. Average temperatures during the winter range from 15°C to 20°C, making it a great time for outdoor adventures and activities. Whenever you do visit, you’ll find hotels, restaurants, malls and most indoor attractions are air-conditioned. Rainfall is also rare, although there are occasional heavy showers. It’s also good to be aware of the drop in temperature in the evening and pack a jacket if you tend to feel the chill.
