From the second my family and I set foot onto the resort we've been met with friendly faces and a staff that's always willing to go above and beyond to make our stay memorable. Our server, Eduardo Garcia was super attentive during our dinner. They have a great variety of food at the buffet and seem to switch it up quite a bit so it's not repetitive. There's ample seating around the pools and beach. It is a large resort, so there's a lot of walking. I was surprised by the amount of wildlife you'll encounter on the resort grounds. It's really added to the experience. They do offer a tram service, but it's not always reliable. Overall, I will definitely be visiting again.

We booked this trip through Expedia and we were not disappointed! The service was amazing in every place here, the location is beautiful, and the rooms were stunning! We had two beds, a balcony, food and drinks in the fridge, and the room was cleaned for us every day! There were so many places to eat and have drinks, and the servers were amazing! Our regular server at the buffet, Ricardo Be was exceptional and very kind! He kept our drinks full with a huge smile on his face! The rest of the staff everywhere else was also so friendly and helpful in every possible way! We had an incredible experience!

The hotel itself is very clean and most of the staff is just wonderful and friendly. Our room was spacious, clean and quiet. The fact that wildlife roams free around the different areas of the hotel is quite wonderful too. The nightclub was actually very fun. We had such a good time there, especially on weekend nights. The sports bar next door is also underestimated. But now with the cons... Check-in AND check out processes took forever, even though you are only there to get a room you already booked. The majority of restaurants are reservation only and you are basically allowed one reservation for a 3-night stay. There are very few time slots available so we weren't even able to try one. We got stuck with the buffet for the few days we were there. Getting a drink at most of the bars by the pools or on the beach is the most frustrating experience overall. Bartenders will skip you without any apologies and they were very rude. Those bars also close at 6pm everyday which we couldn't believe. If you want food in the middle of the day when laying by the pool, your ONLY option is to walk all the way back to the lobby and get to the buffet nearby. A few snacking spots around the premises would have been a big plus. Fun experience overall but we would never go back nor recommend this hotel to anyone.

We went two weeks ago, and the place is beautiful, very big, and in the middle of all jungle. You can walk all over the place and you will always see something new. Xcaret Park is a 5-minute walk from the same hotel and accessing the park. (Xcaret Park not included, but they have a discount for being a guest)
It has theater and they do show and entertainment every night. It has also a tennis court, mini golf, as extra activities to entertain you.
It has very large and long pools that connect with each other, there are rooms that have access to the pool from its balcony, that was super cool, the beach is not a beach as such but it is accessible to be able to enjoy it, even with children, without danger of something happening.
The rooms were what we didn’t like, we had a standard room, he understood that the place is very old, but the rooms do need attention, the water in the shower changed every 30 seconds from super cold to super hot that prevented you from enjoying a shower.
The place has different levels, there is a level called royal I imagine it has nice rooms and no problems with any of them, but of course it is more expensive.
The food was good, and depending on how many days you stay you have the right to make 1 or more reservations, as nothing more we stayed 3 we only had the right to 1 and we had dinner in a Mexican restaurant and was good. And you have to book between 7-12 because if you don’t get a reservation, but if you go at 10 am you won’t have many options. The restaurants have dress codes, to be able to enter.
The service was pleasant and professional. Some did not speak English very well, so on one occasion it was impossible to order room service. The reception is very slow, there was not enough staff so being able to get your room takes 1 hour in line.
Bear Claw
Occidental at Xcaret is a beautiful accommodation right in the heart of the jungle along the Caribbean Sea with amazing views of a variety of different animal species and access to an ocean fed cove full of sea life. There are lots of great excursion options in the area and Xcaret Park is within walking distance of the resort as well (This place is incredible and I would highly recommend visiting). We found the staff to be very friendly, and the rooms to be clean. However, we opted into the VIP program and we were not satisfied with this particular service. Our fridge was not stocked every day, and we didn’t get top ups on coffee either. As this resort is very spread out, we found walking in the extreme heat to be taxing without proper transportation options (it is a long walk to the beach). Being able to book restaurants was difficult as this resort doesn’t have a website or app feature and finding someone to assist without making the trek to the lobby was an adventure in itself. The food was very average and the overall customer service throughout this trip could use some improvement. We were not properly welcomed on arrival, and we had to figure out the rules and the resort layout on our own. Overall, I would recommend this resort as we did have a lovely time, but I would also suggest these improvements in order to live up to the 5 star rating that Occidental at Xcaret prides itself on.
