If I could take away from the existing stars, I would. I hate leaving reviews, but had to warn everyone. This is a scam. Apparently, this used to be a homeless shelter. They have only renovated 2 floors, yet all the pictures only depict the renovated rooms. One of the managers even stated that if they put the real pictures on there, no one would ever stay there. They are right!!!! We couldn't even stay in our room the first night. It reeked off urine, had not been updated, wallpaper peeling of the wall, sink was missing parts, etc. Everyone was coming back to the front desk demanding a room change. It was a constant shell game of people switching rooms. Even after getting a "renovated" room, the blinds still wouldn't close, the bathroom was still damaged, but at least I didn't feel like I was in the Bates Motel anymore. Also, they claimed they couldn't use the ac before May 15th, but the reality was it was broken and most of the hotel had to open their room windows to not suffocate. Their grab and go breakfast should not be considered breakfast; it was more like snacks and juice/coffee. This hotel is not worth any money!

My recent stay at The Manhattan at Times Square can only be described as a complete disappointment. From the misleading advertisements to the appalling lack of service and the absence of any air conditioning, this hotel failed to meet even the most basic standards of comfort and hospitality. To begin with, the misleading advertising of this hotel is nothing short of deceptive. The promotional materials displayed luxurious rooms with promises of a comfortable and relaxing stay. However, upon arrival, it became evident that these claims were nothing but empty words. The reality of the rooms was far from the depiction portrayed in the advertisements, leaving me feeling deceived and robbed of my hard-earned money. Even worse than the false advertising was the abysmal service I encountered throughout my stay. The staff showed a complete disregard for guest satisfaction and failed to provide even the most basic levels of hospitality. Requests for assistance were met with apathy and an unwillingness to resolve issues. Additionally, the lack of responsiveness to complaints further illustrated the hotel's blatant neglect of its guests' needs. As if the disappointing service wasn't enough, the lack of air conditioning in the rooms was simply unbearable. Particularly during the night, this essential amenity is crucial for a comfortable stay. However, in this hotel, no efforts were made to address this issue, except to open a window and brought a fan to the room. The lack of proper cooling systems left guests exposed to suffocating heat, making sleep impossible and the overall experience miserable. On top of these major grievances, the overall condition of the hotel itself was far from desirable. The facilities were outdated and showed signs of neglect. The lack of maintenance was evident throughout, compromising the cleanliness and overall appeal. It is clear that no attention is given to ensuring a pleasant environment for guests. Regrettably, my experience at The Manhattan at Times Square was one of extreme disappointment. The false advertising, subpar service, and the absence of air conditioning made for an extremely uncomfortable stay. I strongly advise against choosing this hotel, as it fails to deliver on its promises and basic necessities for a satisfactory guest experience. Please note that this review reflects my personal encounter at the time of my visit, and experiences may vary.

Dear The Manhattan at Times Square Hotel, I am writing here to get in touch with you, as we have not received any response to our emails. We are writing to kindly request the refund of the security deposit associated with our recent stay at your establishment. We occupied Room 634 from May 1st to May 7th, 2024. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at and appreciated the excellent service provided throughout our stay. However, as our departure date has passed, we kindly ask for the prompt return of the security deposit. We look forward to receiving confirmation of the refund and appreciate your attention to this matter. Thank you for your cooperation. Kind regards

I waited until my charge went through to leave this review because I was worried they would overcharge me for something if I didn't. I had stayed here in 2018 and although it wasn't a 5-star hotel I thought it was good enough to book with them again for our trip to New York last week. I can assure you that I will not make that mistake again. When we arrived the whole hotel had no keys so every time we came back we had to notify the front desk and then wait by our room anywhere from 5-30 minutes for someone to let us in. Initially, they told us they would check our ID when letting us in, but not once did they check our ID before letting us in our room. This is extremely dangerous since anyone could have gotten into our room. Day 2 we woke up and had no hot water. When we told them they said it was an issue with multiple rooms. Luckily this was fixed before we had to do anything that required a shower. Overall the room and the hotel in general (except the lobby) was gross. The floor in both the room and the halls looked like it had never been cleaned. Our entire room was covered in patchy wallpaper that was falling off. The bathroom was equally gross. The air didn't work so it was around 78 degrees in our room the entire time even with the windows open. The only pros were the location, the breakfast, and for what the staff had to deal with they were mostly pleasant. Next time I will pay the extra to get a better hotel in an equally good location or a little further out.

We booked the hotel trusting that the location would make for a clean and safe room for the night for a girls' weekend. Upon checking in, we saw a long line of people bringing up complaints and receiving aloof answers of why they would not be resolved or eventually get to it. Our room was right outside of the elevator, and we knew it might be a little loud, which we were okay with. What was a a big and unsafe surprise is that the lock was not secure and when people would walk by the door which of course was often, the door lock would rattle. It felt really unsafe for us but that was just the start. We dropped off our bags on the bed and went to use the restroom and was shocked at the unsanitary conditions of the bathroom. There were no towels, 1 bar of soap, pink mold all over the sink, shower (which also included globs of hair), it was so dirty we barely wanted to touch anything. The more we looked the more we saw the conditions of the room. Wallpaper was peeling from the walls, large cracks on the ceilings, carpet was extremely dirty we did not take off our shoes. We looked at the sheets and they were dirty and had been turned inside out so you could easily tell they didn't wash them and just rotate them. We could hear our neighbors talking about similar issues and having to go out and buy disinfectant wipes. We decided to check out after 30 min of being there. We went to the front desk to let them know and as we waited, more and more people were showing up to complain. We were told they had to check the rooms before we left and they acted like we could not leave until the checked it. They came back and said the bed looks like they had been sat in and house keeping would have to go redo the rooms. I was appalled by their excuse. We did not want to argue with them so we decided to leave and not let our weekend be ruined any longer. We've asked for a refund but keep getting denied.
