The biggest selling point of the hotel is location- very convenient to everywhere in midtown and it neighbors a big train station. The hotel has a 3 star lobby but maybe a 2 star room. The room was outdated - the bathroom was extremely small, you have to close the door to be able to sit on the toilet. The sink was very small and no place for any of your personal care items, you will worry about hitting your head when wash your face. If you have to book it, ask for a very high floor - I found that the high floor is helpful from eliminating noise perception. The receptionists service is difficult to describe, quite often there is no body there - they seemed like to go back to a room behind the counter, which is a bit annoying, but once you called them and they are there, they are friendly.

My recent stay at The New Yorker Hotel was a mixed experience, with both positives and significant drawbacks. Let me start by addressing the issues I encountered. I came back to the hotel and had trouble with my room key card not working. When I approached the front desk, Vanessa, the receptionist, was extremely rude and uncooperative. What should have been a quick 10-second fix turned into a 45-minute wait, making the quick fix process unnecessarily frustrating and unwelcoming. Her behavior stood in stark contrast to the rest of the staff, who were all warm and accommodating.
The condition of the bathroom was another major disappointment. The facility is quite dated, which could be charming in a classic hotel, but the quality was poor. The water was discolored and brown, and the sink failed to drain properly, with water pooling up every time it was used. It certainly didn't meet basic standards of cleanliness and functionality.
On the positive side, the hotel’s old classic theme and décor do give it a unique charm, reminiscent of New York’s bygone era. The ambiance is elegant and has a historic appeal that’s worth appreciating. Additionally, aside from my encounter with Vanessa, the other staff members were friendly and made an effort to make the stay enjoyable.
In summary, while the hotel has a nostalgic character and friendly staff, my experience was overshadowed by poor service from a specific employee and maintenance issues in the bathroom. There’s potential for a great stay here, but significant improvements are needed.

We had an amazing weekend stay at the New Yorker. We arrived early at 9 a.m. on Friday and asked about the possibility of an early check-in. The front desk staff was incredibly friendly, and for a small fee, we were upgraded to a two-room suite and were able to check in right away. Shortly after settling in, the staff called to ensure everything was satisfactory and even extended our check-out time by an hour at no extra cost. The rooms have a charming vintage feel, which we loved, and the beds—including the sofa bed—were exceptionally comfortable. Every staff member, from security to the concierge to the TikTok diner team, was so helpful and kind. The location was ideal, within walking distance to Broadway, Times Square, the Empire State Building, Penn Station, and the bus terminal, with a subway station conveniently next to the hotel. We will definitely be returning in the future!

Great experience overall. Service was fantastic and location perfect for our trip. Everything was either in a short walking distance or quick subway distance. Rooms were good but the building is almost 100 years old - small rooms and noisy (plumbing, neighbouring rooms, sirens outside). Bring earplugs and you'll have a great time.

We have been here three times and I can safely say it’s a hit or miss…if you get a good and newer floor it looks fresh including the room and if not then you get a floor and room from the 70s that looks like was renovated minimally. But if you only look to come to the room at night for a shower and sleep and spend most of the day out you should be fine. LOCATION of the place is very good not far from Times Square and not far from Bryant park, train and other places of interest.
