Not all rooms are renovated. We requested a garden/pool view, we got a back of the resort shrub view in a very dated room. No HOT water for the whole week we were there.Toilet not always flushing. Very cold and damp. Floor was wet and slippery. We were told we have to keep our room cold which we did because the room sweats. We were sick with a cold because of the dampness and our clothes and bedding were damp.On our second complaint about wet slippery floors we received a very noisy dehumidifier.
Flying 4000 miles for this grief ruined our first week of vacation.
It’s the first time in seven visits to the island that I had to wear socks to bed.
On a positive note I cannot say enough how wonderful the housekeeping and hotel staff are. Ken attended to us with lemon and honey for our colds.
If you choose to stay at Southern Palms, I would highly recommend booking a renovated suite facing the sea.
The beach is not cleaned and not for weak swimmers. You have to attend to your own beach chairs and chair pads. No umbrellas.
It’s the first time in all my years visiting this beautiful island that I felt ripped off by a hotel.

I stayed with my mom and aunt at Southern Palms in February, and we had really lovely experience. We were toying with staying at the Hilton, but I am so glad we chose differently. Everything was perfect. We stayed in an ocean view duplex room, and I am so glad that we did. Waking up to the view was amazing. Our room had two televisions, a pretty spacious bathroom, and everything you might need for a an extended stay. The beds were comfortable the AC worked well, and we had two balconies in our room.
Prior to our arrival the staff answered all of my questions and accommodated our asks. While the hotel was sold out it never felt super crowded or cramped. I only ate lunch there once, but I enjoyed my meal. I did order several drinks over my stay and they were delicious!
If you stay at the Southern Palms, you're in walking distance from many good restaurants(we loved Mimosas!), bars, and a small market. This isn't necessarily a "luxury" resort, it's well taken care of, and well manage and overall the experience felt luxurious to me. I can't wait to go back with my family and friends.

I didn’t stay here so I can’t comment on the rooms. I visited for happy hour and a Bajan steel drum band. What a lovely night! Right on Dover Beach with an expansive view of the ocean the ambiance was stunning. It appeared to be an older but highly engaged crowd with couples taking to the dance floor as the music played. Food was top notch and priced so well especially compared to other places with much less quality. I was pleasantly surprised.

Two weeks spent at Southern Palms Beach Resort Barbados. Lovely hotel with exceptional service throughout our stay.
The hotel is located on a lovely beach.
Price point excellent and will definitely return in the future

Maybe the best and most classically tropical spot in the gap.
Beach service. Table service. Pool service! What else could you ask for.
Fish cakes and beachcomber sandwich are my favourite here.
It is impossible not to have a great time hanging out here with a rum punch and the Barbados steel pan orchestra playing.
Keep coming back every year and will forever.
Special mention to Kenny and Xavier.
Always taking care of us.
Just a classic and perfect location you cannot replicate.
