My husband and I along with my brother and his wife stayed here last week for 8 nights and loved every minute. The ocean view room my husband and I had with our own pool was spacious and very comfortable and it was a highlight for us to have our own private pool. The other pools were all fantastic. The weather was superb and the breakfast was amazing with so much choice. We ate in many times (as well as at the excellent nearby restaurants) and the food was always great. The staff were the absolute highlight. Every single one of them were always happy and smiling and always eager to help. Special shout out to one of breakfast staff, Padmini who went the extra mile to make sure we had everything we needed. She took time out of her busy morning to talk with us which we loved. There were many others who I did not get names off who were outstanding. I even had a brief chat with the GM in the way to our room. Thank you all for a fabulous stay. We will be back!

What a spectacular looking hotel. It’s just a good looking as the pictures. Loads and loads of greenery and water around the hotel.
The staff here are always friendly and attentive. The suites are gorgeous (see the video), are relatively new and clearly well maintained.
We came on a Luxury Escapes packaged deal which gave us some bonuses such as free daily breakfast, vouchers for a free daily cocktail / drink each plus vouchers for either a free daily lunch or dinner each. Note - this was a different menu and had fewer options on it than the normal full menu. These can be used as the two restaurants on site.
Not a lot of shopping walking distance, though lots of restaurants nearby if you want to get out of the resort styled food.
As with any resort with the pool, finding the right deck chairs were a competitive sport 🤣. The temperature of main pool itself was akin to the warm water in some places as it had next to no overhead coverage. Sun beating down on it all day. The cool spots (and there were a couple, were where there was some natural shade.
Despite this, we will definitely be coming back here again.

I have stayed here twice and also at many other hotels in Sanur and the Maya is my favourite. The rooms are large and modern, great staff and service with a fantastic breakfast. However, there is some opportunity for improvement. There were tiny ants in the room, which I also encountered when I stayed previously in a completely different part of the hotel. Unfortunately the complimentary cakes left in the room were covered in them. I had to spray using the insect spray they provide in the room. We also had some electrical and plumbing issues in our room, which were rectified when reported. The dog policy is unclear and on my previous stay I witnessed someone walking their dog through the hotel and let it defecate on the path and left it there. During this stay one evening there were locals dining in the restaurant near the beach path and three dogs, which I assume were theirs, were running around that part of the restaurant. I saw one staff member frown when the dogs ran up onto the wooden deck area where we were sitting, but nothing was done about it. The Hyatt for example has signs that clearly say no dogs. The smoking policy is also unclear. If you are at the Tree Bar people just start smoking next to you. There should be clearly defined smoking and non-smoking areas. These should be standard things for a 5-star hotel.
Not likely to stay again as room prices are getting ridiculous.

We just stayed for a second time at The Maya Sanur. A year ago we had 2 lagoon suites which were absolutely stunning. This year we booked 2 garden rooms but were pleasantly surprised with an upgrade to 2 heavenly suites, which was greatly appreciated. The rooms are just perfect and the beds are extremely comfortable. The grounds are lush and pretty and the 3 pools are lovely. We ate at the restaurant every morning and we also had a couple of dinners and evening cocktails in the Tree Bar, which we really enjoyed. However, the best thing by far about The Maya is definitely the beautiful staff. They are so friendly and welcoming from the moment you arrive and throughout the entire stay. From the bellboys to reception, gardeners to housekeeping and especially the restaurant team, the staff are invaluable and such an asset to the resort. Thank you to everyone and we will definitely be back when we return to Bali!
