Embark on a journey of pure delight along South Africa’s spellbinding Garden Route. From rugged coastline and golden beaches to verdant forests and awe-inspiring caverns, this sensational tour will allow you to discover beauty beyond belief and leave you with wonderful memories that will be treasured forever. Travelling from Cape Town, in the Western Cape, to Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth), in the Eastern Cape, you’ll find yourself surrounded by the untouched natural scenery this phenomenal destination is famous for. You’ll also gain an insight into the Garden Route’s rich heritage and get to sample delicious local cuisines and world-famous South African wines.
Begin your exploration of the Garden Route by meeting your local tour guide before departing on your adventure. You will travel along Sir Lowry’s Pass, enjoying spellbinding views towards Grabouw and Elgin, as well as the surrounding mountains. During your journey you’ll stop at Dassiesfontein, a traditional farm stall offering a myriad of locally produced products from the Overberg area. You’ll then continue on to Cape Agulhas, the Southernmost tip of Africa, where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet. Here you will get to marvel at the breathtaking rugged coastline and visit the historic Cape Agulhas lighthouse. You will then venture onwards, passing through Swellendam, the third oldest town in South Africa. Finally, you’ll reach the quaint harbour town of Mossel Bay, where you’ll enjoy an overnight stay.
After enjoying breakfast, you’ll start the day with a visit to the Cape St Blaize Cave. Also Known as the Cradle of Human Culture, it is the site of one of South Africa’s oldest archaeological excavations. You will then travel to Oudtshoorn, a town regarded as the ostrich capital of the world, where you’ll be treated to a guided tour of a local ostrich farm. This will be followed by a wine tasting experience at a local wine estate in the scenic Schoemanshoek Valley. From here you will set off to the awe-inspiring Cango Caves. Renowned as one of the world’s great natural wonders, you’ll take a tour through the magnificent limestone caverns which have been sculpted through the ages by nature. You will end the day with dinner at a boutique guest house in Oudtshoorn, where you’ll spend the night.

Following breakfast you’ll enjoy a scenic mountain journey over the Outeniqua Pass to George, the sixth oldest town in South Africa. Here, you’ll discover a host of historical landmarks, including the Slave Tree, with a chain and lock embedded in its trunk, and King Edward VII Library, a stunning example of Edwardian architecture. You will then travel through the delightful coastal town of Wilderness on to Knysna. World-famous for its oysters, this beachside destination is nestled on the banks of the Knysna lagoon and boasts golden sandy stretches. Here you’ll venture into the Knysna forest, where you’ll hear stories of the landscape's rich history, including tales of woodcutters, elephants hunted to extinction and gold miners. You will also get to discover the Dalene Matthee Big Tree Memorial, an ancient yellowwood named after author Dalene Matthee, who wrote four books about the forest. Your visit to Knysna includes a traditional South African lunch and local snacks at Totties Farm Kitchen. You will also stay overnight in Knysna.
Breakfast and dinner included
After breakfast, the last leg of your journey will see you pass the picturesque Tsitsikamma Forest heading towards Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth), known as the friendly city. Your Garden Route tour will end here, with guests able to disembark at Chief Dawid Stuurman Airport on request.
