Stayed 8 nights at the Wyndham Grand Barbados Sam Lords Castle February 5 through the 13th. We stayed in the Zephyr Suite and it was beautiful, though the way this property is set up I don't believe there's a room without a wonderful view. Our butlers were great, whenever we asked for something, we got it. Appreciated the charcuterie upon arrival, and again during our stay. We ate a few times at the Castle View restaurant - make reservations ahead of time - and the food and service were both very good. We enjoyed the buffet and the Sam Lord's Grill too. Also enjoyed the Super Bowl party! I was hesitant to stay as I read some of the reviews, but I have to say we thoroughly enjoyed staying here, and would stay again. No issues upon check in, rum punch welcome drink is killer! Yes, it's remote, but you can make reservations for the hotel's shuttle to Oistens, Bridgetown, Harbor Lights, etc. We rented a car because we wanted to explore on our own and that was interesting, and fun. Highly recommend the spa! The couples massage was amazing and I had a nice pedi there as well. If you schedule a spa treatment you are able to use their pool which is so serene and relaxing. We had the pool to ourselves! If you're coming here, just go with the flow. You're on island time!

We were here with a small group of people from my company for an incentive trip. Some Highlights: The resort itself is very beautiful. I love the little breezeway overlooking the ocean between the lobby and the Japanese restaurant. Our room was spacious, light, airy, and comfortable. Before checking in, I was afraid we wouldn’t be able to see the ocean, but even though we were pool-front, we still had a great view of the ocean from our room. Patio was very large and spacious. A few members of our party had AC issues, but we were lucky I suppose as our room was pretty cool and comfortable. The entertainment coordinators and poolside servers were a lot of fun! Very friendly and engaging. Those team members, along with the host at the Japanese restaurant (unfortunately did not get name) and the host at Castle View (Faith) were standouts. Kymani, Shaquille, and others whose names I unfortunately did not get should be recognized for their amazing service! Whoever was hosting the karaoke night on 5/29 with Kymani did a great job emceeing and keeping the party going. I thought the resort was a perfect mix of quiet and relaxing, with sufficient entertainment to keep guests … entertained, for lack of better word. Petra checked in on our group several times and made us feel seen, even though our stay overlapped with a much larger, high profile conference. Thank you, Petra! There are two very cute spots close by for food for those who want to try some local cuisine offsite: Le Shack (French/bajan fusion) and Dis Ole House (very cute eclectic spot with outdoor seating, walking distance). It is true that the beach is not swimmable. You really can’t even wade in the water. There is just WAY too much seaweed. However, the hotel does offer complimentary shuttle service to a nearby, very nice and swimmable beach (Harbour Lights). I get that some may prioritize having the beach right outside the resort, but our group found transportation very accessible and easy to arrange. Our stay was pleasant and we will look back fondly on our memories at Sam Lord’s Castle.

This resort isn’t worth the money at all! I spent 2,000 on a stay only for Castle View restaurant to never be open for brunch as they were suppose to. Also if you wanted dinner reservations at any of the restaurants on the resorts you had to basically have dress clothes. Who packs dress clothes for vacation. I understand the no flip flop tank top thing but they said women couldn’t wear T shirts and men had to wear dress shirts or button downs. The alcohol selection and food selection is very little so you’re basically eating the same thing everyday not even a switch up. The AC barely works in the room so you will be relying on the fan mostly. The scenery is nice but I wouldn’t recommend this resort to anyone. I would have much rather spent my money elsewhere.

The view from building 2 over the ocean is amazing. The staff have been incredible - very kind and helpful. Barbados hospitality is unmatched. We went off campus to eat at Le Shack and it was great. The taxi driver got us there quickly and safely and brought us back as soon as we requested a ride. Amazing place.

I want to be fair with this review. Im a seasoned traveler. I know going to an "all inclusive" what to typically expect. So I'll start with the good. The resort is beautiful. Its situated right on the coast with open ocean views. The grounds, pool and resort itself were clean. The pools were very nice. Even though they said the place was fully booked, there didnt seem to be that many people there. So there was always plenty room at the pools. Our room was spacious, clean and had a beautiful view with a large balcony were we enjoyed our morning coffee (very good coffee) that was in the room. The bad. The food isnt very good. The main buffet style restaurants food was cold and not very kid friendly. The exception was the pizza night. The pizza was actually very good. The pool side grill had better food. However, we waited an hour for our meal. The 1 fancy restaurant requires a reservation. It was booked out every night we were there. So we walked over to try and get a walk in seat. We were told they were full even though the restaurant was half empty. There is no bar with a TV where you can watch any international sports. I was hoping to see some of the winter Olympics over a few drinks, but was told I had to go into town for that. The service is horrible. Although there were a few people who tried hard, it seemed like the majority of the employees didnt want to be there and it showed on their face and service. You can't swim at their beach. The water is way to rough and the cost is covered in thick seaweed. The resort is located on an excluded part of the island. So there is no where to walk to. You need to Uber to the other side of the island if you want to walk around outside the resort. Although they have a nice Rum bar were you can pay extra, the overall selection of included alcohol is very limited. I would never go back to this resort.
