Beautiful location, very close to shopping, restaurants, ferries, and right across the street from a beautiful beach. The resort itself isn’t on the best beach for swimming, but the pool is big and the beach is less than a 5 minute walk. The food at the resort is incredible. Everything we ate at the buffet was delicious, the cafe and the restaurants were also wonderful and included in the price of the all inclusive. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We traveled from Canada and we did find that the front desk was a bit difficult to reach by phone before we arrived, but it was doable through the Wyndham main number. The resort was always very clean and well maintained. Our room was spotless when we arrived. Overall a very good experience, would highly recommend!!!

⭐☆☆☆☆ This was supposed to be a special wedding anniversary trip, but Wyndham Alltra Playa del Carmen has been one disappointment after another. Upon arrival, there was no parking available, and the hotel offered no alternative solution whatsoever. Guests arriving by car are simply left to figure it out themselves. The property itself appears poorly maintained. The elevators were out of service, and the main pool had a large amount of floating grass, debris, and organic matter on the water surface. The cleanliness standards were far below what I would expect from a resort carrying the Wyndham name. The atmosphere around the pool was also unpleasant. There was zero visible supervision or enforcement of basic guest conduct, resulting in behavior that made the area feel uncomfortable and far from the relaxing resort experience being advertised. The staff’s attitude made things even worse. During check-in and throughout the stay, I encountered employees who seemed uninterested in helping and, at times, openly dismissive. What shocked me most was finding what appeared to be an exposed electrical fixture/open power source near the pool area. Whether temporary or permanent, this is something that should never be present in a guest recreation area. As a Wyndham Rewards Diamond member, I expected at least a minimum level of recognition and customer care. Instead, my concerns were ignored. If this is how a loyal member is treated, I can only imagine the experience of guests without status. To make matters worse, when I contacted Wyndham Rewards, they informed me that they could not assist with issues involving the hotel and redirected me elsewhere, leaving me without any meaningful support. I have stayed at multiple Wyndham properties before, including Big Bear Lake, Los Angeles, Banff, and São Paulo. This property is by far the most disappointing experience I have had with the brand. I cannot recommend this hotel in its current condition. Honestly don’t book it and book a simple hostel, it’s just better.

Absolutely loved this place! Great location, so you can check out Playa del Carmen easily. The staff is top notch, Jannika is the star of the hotel, we loved her so much! Sebastian at the bar was our favorite bartender. The sushi place was great, so was the steak house, but the Mexican restaurant in the hotel was the best. Housekeeping was outstanding, our room was spotless every day. I can’t say enough good things about this place. To say again, the staff really made this stay special!!

It's hard to imagine a better property/AI experience at this price point. The location is stellar - with 5th avenue right there if you wish to venture off property. The food is really, truly good and there is considerable choice - don't miss Off The Hook Sushi sneakily tucked in behind the quiet pool -- with swim up bar too - or the little tiki bar on the far, far left of the hotel. The pizza place by main pool is tight. Included drinks are all Call brands (like Bacardi, Smirnoff, Absolut, Captain Morgan, Jack, Bombay Sapphire etc., plus tons of good tequilas and Mezcals). The service in the bars and restaurants is spot-on attentive and friendly. Really. Everybody is so caring about your having a nice time. I wish they had AC or fans at the main indoor bar and maybe more DJ activity during the day - but not enough to downgrade my overall enjoyment. The Sargassum is a real big issue (they do try to keep up, but fighting mother nature is a massive chore) and the main beach is pretty well degraded into near non-existence (all super sad, not their fault) but there is a tiny beach next to the Tiki Bar that has a bit of sand an very oddly. no Sargassum - just a few hundred feet away from the mess. There's hope!!

The resort's Santorini-like exterior is stunning. While visiting in January meant the beachfront was closed due to high tides, a pleasant, few-minute walk just outside the property led us to a beautiful, accessible shoreline. It was also incredibly convenient for souvenir shopping, with a strip of stalls literally just one block away. As Playa del Carmen is known for its vibrant nightlife, expect some energetic atmosphere. One night, I went to bed and woke up to music from the bar nearby, great if you're in the mood for it, but light sleepers may want to pack earplugs or request a quieter room. For an all-inclusive, note that premium-brand alcohol is an extra charge. The true highlight was the exceptional staff and their fun, scheduled activities. The doorman was always welcoming, and activity hosts Carlos and David were fantastic entertainers who made our trip a great experience! We loved the mezcalita class, foam party, and karaoke night. The buffet food was genuinely good, but the standout was the on-site Mexican restaurant, Zarape—the best food of the trip, served by the wonderful and fun server, Julius. The guest demographic skewed a bit older. We had a wonderful time and would recommend it!
