Highlights: The spa was the star of the trip — I had the best massage of my life, and it truly elevated our experience. Scena restaurant was outstanding, and the beach dinner cookout was delicious with great atmosphere. The grab-and-go station was convenient, and the Living Room bar stood out thanks to Edger, who made a fantastic Negroni with his own twist. The pools were also beautiful, especially the chill pool with its swim-up bar and the big hot tub. Room for improvement: Breakfast was limited and repetitive. The resort advertised six restaurants, but only two were open each day. Service overall was kind but inconsistent and in need of more training. For a brand-new hotel, our room still showed construction debris and sticky residue in the bathroom. The beach itself was just OK, with coarser sand and rougher waters than expected. The resort is also fairly secluded, so plan to stay on property or commit to full-day excursions. Staff Shout-Outs: • Beroni (Server): Friendly, attentive, and made dining experiences special. • Edger (Bartender): Crafted excellent cocktails (including a custom Negroni) and created a welcoming atmosphere at the Living Room bar. With more polish and the full dining lineup available in peak season, this could easily become a 4-star experience.

We enjoyed an unforgettable long weekend getaway to celebrate my birthday, and from the moment I stepped out of the car, the hospitality was exceptional. Check-in was seamless, our bags were promptly delivered to the room, and we were given a personal tour of the space. Inside, I was welcomed with a handwritten note, a birthday cake, and a bottle of champagne such a thoughtful touch. Each restaurant we dined at seemed to outdo the last the food was consistently outstanding. The service throughout the resort was impeccable, and the cocktails at every bar were expertly crafted and delicious. Our room was spotless and equipped with everything I could possibly need. Be sure to pack a few power converters some of the outlets are European style. Although we didn’t spend time on the beach due to the sargassum issue, I was already aware that Punta Cana, like many Caribbean destinations, is facing this natural challenge. The staff made a genuine effort to keep the area clean, which I appreciated. I tend to avoid resorts that feel overcrowded or cater to the masses, and thankfully, this property offered a more refined and relaxed atmosphere. I’ll definitely be returning next year for another long weekend it was the perfect escape.

Eight night stay, September 19 to 27. From arrival, we were treated like family. All of our needs were anticipated by staff in a caring manner. Instead of staying in one place, the concierge people walk around the resort and speak to everyone to see how they can make your stay better. We already miss Hoshi, Sergio, Tatiana and Estesi and it was a pleasure to have met Mario. The lobby and grounds were stunningly beautiful with tropical foliage and reflecting pools along the walkways to everywhere. The property was easy to navigate with signs directing you to where you need to go. The property is also wheelchair friendly and there are elevators to all floors. All areas are immaculate and well maintained. Background music in common areas adds to the Caribbean vibe. Pool areas were beautiful and the large hot tub at the Chill Pool had hot water, which is not often found elsewhere. The Wet Deck pool was gorgeous with amazing views and sound of the ocean. You can also swim 24/7, if you choose. Chairs and towels were plentiful. We have been to DR before and our dining experiences at the W far exceeded our expectations, as well as surpassing any other resorts we have been to. We knew it was off season, so it was no surprise to find restaurants open on a rotating basis. We also used room service, which was just as wonderful as any of the restaurants. We found their motto, "Whatever, Whenever, Wherever" to be absolutely true. Special thanks to Chef Fernando at Taman for meeting dietary requests. We would also like to thank the head of culinary and Chef Richard for making us a Dominican dish that we were craving! Thank you also to Tatiana, who gave a great cacao presentation and showing the extraordinary passion she has for dessert making. Muchas gracias to "Professora" from the "estudiantes" at the Outpost Cafe for the Spanish lessons, as well as prepping our coffee before we entered in the morning! Yes, they are open at 6 a.m. for sunrise watchers! Managers were visible in all restaurant areas and attentive during service. Special thanks to Michael for helping us enjoy our Sip, Flame and Sand experience at the beach. Wait staff was excellent at remembering our preferences and who we were. Special thanks to Junior and Baby A for going the extra mile to ensure our happiness. All of the bars were wonderful. Just about anything you could dream of was available and presented beautifully. I did wish that they had tomato juice instead of Clamato, but there were plenty of other mixer choices. Our favorite was the Living Room bar. Edgar and everyone else working there were experts and very attentive. We also enjoyed the small bites menu. The mixology class led by Edgar was a definite do not miss, if for presentation alone! We booked our trip six months in advance. We understood that the W would still be in its infancy when we arrived; not yet even having had a grand opening yet. In addition, we knew that it would be off season, when occupancy is low and things might be open on a rotating basis. For a luxury resort that offers superior service, extreme comfort and gourmet food, we believe that the W delivered on that promise. There were one or two very small glitches that were immediately rectified and one or two instances where we felt a waitress and bus boy could use a little bit more experience, but this did not detract from our overall impression that this is a 5-star resort. We are already planning our return.

This is a luxurious resort in a beautiful location. Intimate, not too big, not too small. The staff were very attentive and accommodating. We stayed in swim up suite which was right next to the beach. The room was spacious and equipped with everything we needed for our stay. The facilities were top notch, with an easy to follow layout and a beautiful beachfront infinity pool. Special mention to the Away Spa and their staff. Shot-out to Diana, Marisol and all the ladies who treated us like kings. We enjoyed the steam room, cold plunge- and hydro massage pools. There’s also a well equipped gym available to all guests. Although not all the restaurant options were available every night, most likely due a low volume of guests, the available options were excellent. There wasn’t a single dish that we didn’t enjoy. However, the breakfast and lunch menu lacked in comparison to the dinner service. Alcohol options were plenty with many premium liquors to choose from. Overall, our stay at the W Punta Cana was a blissful retreat and we will definitely come back.

Birthday Bliss at the W – Unforgettable Stay! As an Ambassador Elite with Marriott, I’ve come to expect a high level of service and luxury — and the W Hotel once again exceeded all expectations! My birthday trip here was absolutely one for the books. From the moment I arrived, the resort took my breath away. The property is picture-perfect — modern, stylish, and beautifully maintained. I stayed in a swim-out room that was nothing short of stunning, offering both comfort and luxury with every detail thoughtfully designed. The dining experience deserves its own spotlight. Every restaurant served food that was not only delicious but also beautifully presented. Every bite felt like a culinary journey! And let’s talk about the cocktails — the care and creativity that went into each curated craft cocktail truly elevated the experience. What truly made this stay unforgettable, though, was the incredible staff. Every team member went above and beyond to ensure that my birthday and overall stay were perfect in every way. Their attentiveness, warmth, and personalized service did not go unnoticed, and I’m deeply grateful to the entire team and management.
