Worst resort experience in Punta Cana – avoid if you value customer service and cleanliness. We stayed at Vista Sol Punta Cana from July 31 to August 5, 2025, and I can honestly say it was the worst experience I’ve had in the DR — and I’ve been here dozens of times. We were misled about a dinner reservation, made to wait 2 hours, only to be told “go eat at the buffet” with no apology. A security guard falsely accused my family of stealing a beach bag without even asking questions — yelling in front of other guests. Turns out my daughter had accidentally brought the wrong bag to our room. We returned it immediately, but the damage was done. The staff (not all, but most) were rude, unhelpful, and acted like guests were a burden — until a supervisor was nearby. And to top it off, there were cockroaches near our room — I even took pictures because I couldn’t believe it. I brought friends from Jamaica to show off my home country, and instead, they left with a bad impression. That’s what hurts the most. Not asking for anything — just warning others. This resort needs serious changes in staff training, hospitality, and hygiene.

My friend and I visited July 2025. I must say we had an amazing time and will definitely return. The check-in was a bit of a wait and then we were given rooms on the 3rd floor but at the time the elevator was not working. After declining that room they happily switched us to the 1st floor. Our room (1103) was beautiful but quite muggy smelling which after a couple of days with the balcony open and AC off it mostly went away. The food was amazing with lots of variety! The staff were friendly and helpful. I can’t remember all their names but Darlin and Miguel at the beach bar was always so happy, dancing while serving up the drinks even in that heat. The night entertainment was very good all week! There was some seaweed, which they worked diligently to clean up, but one cannot control mother nature so we just made the best of it!

Overall I would only give 4 star to this hotel. The hotel is old and they definitely should renovate it soon. Even they tried their best to clean the room, But it still old, with some mouldy smell. There's no ac everywhere, only in your room and two of the special restaurant. Be ready to get super sweat when eating. The pool was super dirty, cloudy water and it looks like swimming inside milk. Also have to mention they have party every night till very late, you can hear the base noise I'm the room, family with kid who sleep early should avoid this hotel. Staff in this hotel barely speak English. Lots of language barrier when you try to request something or communicate with them. Last But not least, food are terrible.

Reading these reviews had me extremely worried about coming to this resort. But I can happily say I had an amazing time. The check in was a breeze, room wasn't ready which is fine we went & had some food/drinks. The room was very clean & easy to get to. Does it need some upgrades, yes but the only time we were in the room was to change & sleep ;) the pool were very nice, had three different options to chose from. The food was good, no complaints with the buffet or the food truck on the beach. Every single staff we encountered with was extremely helpful & very nice. I would come back again for suree. The gift shop has everything you need with an ATM which can be convenient. The beach was absolutely beautiful & the beach party at night was a great time. My ONLY complaint is making reservations for dinner can be a hassle. We got to the resort at 3pm and all the a la carte options didn't have any open reservations so we had to go to the buffet. Which is totally fine but if you're looking for something different make sure you books the days in advance.

Only the rooms and one restaurant (gourmet) has a/c. Weird stench some days, when it rains it's very slippery everywhere. Staff is friendly, but many cannot speak English. Location is good, has some shops and restaurants close outside of resort. Beach water was brown, would not return to it, seaweed etc all over the sand, was not fun to walk through. Room wasn't ready, which sucks since there's no a/c and you're waiting in the lobby with luggage for hours on end! Booked through sunwing will be leaving a review there, not recommended won't return to this hotel. Food seemed like it could be reused from buffet at the dinners we booked for, seemed old or sitting around for a while.
