We have seen a lot of positive reviews and YouTube videos about this property and decided to make this our winter getaway for 2026. Here is my take... PROS: Excellent service - everyone is always willing to assist. From the minute you check in, you are introduced to your host. Ours was Amelia Marin - she simply went above and beyond to make sure our stay was unforgetable. Ricardo from resort services was very welcoming and made us feel right at home. Bellhop/ Pool attendant - Diego was courteous and made sure that we always had towels and even gave us a short tour of the property. Pool/ beach bartenders - Panfilo, Eugenio and Isabelle were simply amazing. Never had an empty glass. Food and Beverages - There are 5 restaurants to choose from. All have their own unique flavors. Above average food quality and beverages. Much better than most "all inclusive" resorts. Property - easily walkable due to its simple "u" shaped design. Very clean and well maintained. The rooms were spacious and everything was in working order. You can even customize your pillow preference, welcome drink and room scents. The resort is about an hour and fifteen minutes from the Cancun airport. Nice and secluded. The beach is small but good enought to accomodate resort guests. There is also an F1 simulator :) CONS: The part where they try to sell you on vacation packages. Until the point of checking out, someone will approach you and offer "deals" Pools all have black flooring and very rough surfaces. We were not used to the rough surface. Beach had some sargassum which was not removed throughout our stay. Gym - ample amount of machines but they didn't allow us to use the sauna or steam room. "It was for members only" Entertainment - this resort does not have your typical nightly concert, show or entertainment. If you are looking at a party atmosphere, this is not the place. Other than the breakfast buffet, there isn't a regular lunch or dinner buffet. You can order just about everything poolside or room service which can take some time. The presence of Coati. Although they seem harmless they can be intimidating. OVERALL I would recommend UNICO 20 87 to anyone looking for a beach vacation. Friendly staff, Amazing food and a very chill vibe.

The location was beautiful and sophisticated. Just enough activities that there was consistently something for everyone. Very close to tons of cultural excursions and attractions. Not a huge location, but well spaced. The food was absolutely amazing especially the Mexican restaurant. Our personal assistant Karla was phenomenal. She really helped ensure everything was clear and she took care of so much for us. I wish I could give the entire experience 6 stars because she took it up another notch having that level of help and service, making us feel like family. The resort was at full capacity, but unlike other locations we've been the amount of restaurants, pool and beach chairs, reservations, etc seemed perfectly available at just the right amount the entire time. Really cool they have different pools so close together with such different vibes depending on what you're into.

We had an amazing stay at UNICO 20°87° Riviera Maya while celebrating a retirement with a group of college friends. The resort is beautiful, the atmosphere is relaxing, and the food, deserts and drinks were fantastic across the board. Huge appreciation to Isral and Roger for their outstanding service. They went above and beyond every day and made our celebration feel truly special. Their kindness and professionalism made a great trip even better. Additional shout outs to Amelia, her warm smile, hard work and talents to entertain are amazing. Diego, thank you for your hard work and warm smile as well! If you're looking for a resort that combines luxury, great dining, and exceptional hospitality, UNICO 20°87° is an excellent choice. Highly recommend.

My wife and I had an exceptional experience at Unico 20 87. Alejandro and Alexander provided exceptional assistance throughout our stay. The resort is conveniently located right off the coast of the Gulf, offering breathtaking sunrise views each morning. The breakfast and lunch options were exceptional, while the dinner options were truly fantastic. The resort offers a diverse culinary experience, featuring American, Mexican, Japanese, Italian, and French cuisines, all of which were exceptional dinner choices. The pool area provides a serene and active environment. The room was beautifully designed and offered excellent room service options for those who prefer not to dine at the restaurants. Overall, I highly recommend Unico 20 87 resort. I eagerly anticipate returning or exploring its other locations across Mexico, or perhaps the Caribbean.

We chose UNICO 20°87° Riviera Maya for our destination wedding, hosting a multi-day Hindu wedding with approximately 80-90 guests. Unfortunately, what occurred during our wedding weekend fell far below what we expected from a luxury resort—and from a venue entrusted with such an important event. I do want to note that the food and drinks at the resort were very good. Issues began Thursday night, when power across the resort went off and on multiple times. Several guests, including ourselves, experienced intermittent loss of electricity while out to dinner and were left sitting at tables in the dark. While inconvenient, we assumed this was temporary and did not initially raise concern. The situation escalated significantly on Friday morning, the day of our welcome event. From approximately 10:00 AM Friday until early Saturday morning, there was no running water in guest rooms across the resort. Guests were unable to flush toilets, wash their hands, or shower upon arrival—including elderly family members—immediately prior to scheduled wedding events. Many guests had just traveled and were preparing for the first formal event of the weekend. This was not a brief outage. It lasted nearly 24 hours, and guests were not informed of the issue upon check-in. The lack of basic sanitation placed guests in extremely uncomfortable situations and left us, as the bride and groom, scrambling during what should have been a joyful start to our celebration. I personally did not have access to a shower prior to our first wedding event. While restaurants and pools remained open, the absence of running water in guest rooms during a contracted wedding event is a serious failure. Access to public areas or a spa does not reasonably mitigate the inability to use restrooms or maintain basic hygiene for more than 80 guests preparing for scheduled ceremonies—or for the rest of the resort guests as well. We raised these concerns with resort staff while still on property and were told the matter had been escalated and would be followed up on. After returning home, no one reached out. We made multiple attempts to resolve this privately with resort management. Ultimately, the resort declined to offer compensation proportional to the severity, timing, and scope of the disruption, and we were offered less consideration than some of our own guests. We are sharing this review so future couples can make a fully informed decision. While the property itself is beautiful and many staff members worked hard under difficult circumstances, the lack of preparedness for major infrastructure failures—and the handling of the situation afterward—was deeply disappointing for a once-in-a-lifetime event. Edit: The resort has since responded publicly. While we appreciate the acknowledgment and the efforts made on-site, the situation was not remedied afterward in a way that appropriately addressed the impact on our wedding. We stand by the experience described above.
