This place is like home away from home and a beautiful paradise wrapped in one I’ve been i’ve been two years in a row and have no complaints. Laura our host was fantastic and make sure everything went smoothly. Can’t say enough about the staff in the hospitality. What a treat everything was perfect the food the atmosphere the beautiful beach can’t wait till I go back next year and make this a regular thing. The transportation to and from was very comfortable and quick! I’ve been going the last two years with a group of people and we all can’t say enough about this place. It is the best I give it five stars a real good deal for your money. All the liquor is top shelf. All the food is fresh and delicious.

We had a great time at Unico. When we arrived, we were assigned a Local Host, Laura Flores. On the second day we upgraded our membership at asked if Laura could stay on as our dedicated host. The resort was amazing and we had a great stay. All our needs were seen to and everything was arranged perfectly for our small group of four. Lair took care of everything and our experience was truly memorable. It was my birthday and Laura saw to the reservations, the poolside cabana and even decorated our room. She made our trip even better than we could imagine. Unico is beautiful, well maintained and the food is amazing. I highly recommend it. If you have the pleasure of having Laura as your host, you will be truly blessed.

We have seen a lot of positive reviews and YouTube videos about this property and decided to make this our winter getaway for 2026. Here is my take... PROS: Excellent service - everyone is always willing to assist. From the minute you check in, you are introduced to your host. Ours was Amelia Marin - she simply went above and beyond to make sure our stay was unforgetable. Ricardo from resort services was very welcoming and made us feel right at home. Bellhop/ Pool attendant - Diego was courteous and made sure that we always had towels and even gave us a short tour of the property. Pool/ beach bartenders - Panfilo, Eugenio and Isabelle were simply amazing. Never had an empty glass. Food and Beverages - There are 5 restaurants to choose from. All have their own unique flavors. Above average food quality and beverages. Much better than most "all inclusive" resorts. Property - easily walkable due to its simple "u" shaped design. Very clean and well maintained. The rooms were spacious and everything was in working order. You can even customize your pillow preference, welcome drink and room scents. The resort is about an hour and fifteen minutes from the Cancun airport. Nice and secluded. The beach is small but good enought to accomodate resort guests. There is also an F1 simulator :) CONS: The part where they try to sell you on vacation packages. Until the point of checking out, someone will approach you and offer "deals" Pools all have black flooring and very rough surfaces. We were not used to the rough surface. Beach had some sargassum which was not removed throughout our stay. Gym - ample amount of machines but they didn't allow us to use the sauna or steam room. "It was for members only" Entertainment - this resort does not have your typical nightly concert, show or entertainment. If you are looking at a party atmosphere, this is not the place. Other than the breakfast buffet, there isn't a regular lunch or dinner buffet. You can order just about everything poolside or room service which can take some time. The presence of Coati. Although they seem harmless they can be intimidating. OVERALL I would recommend UNICO 20 87 to anyone looking for a beach vacation. Friendly staff, Amazing food and a very chill vibe.

3/5 – Good resort, but not luxury for the price Unico Riviera Maya is a solid resort, but it didn’t feel like the luxury experience the price suggests. If this were positioned as a mid-range all-inclusive, we would have been very happy. At a premium price point, it fell short of feeling special. The rooms are modern, clean, and comfortable. The bed was great, housekeeping was excellent and consistent, and climate control worked perfectly. However, some details didn’t feel luxury (dust in less-visible areas, minor maintenance wear, slow-draining sinks). We also paid for an ocean-view room but were placed on a low floor where the mangroves completely blocked the ocean — something to be aware of. The beach and pools are highlights. 🌴 Plenty of comfortable cushioned chairs, umbrellas, and tables, and we never had trouble finding space. Drink service at the pools and beach was excellent and attentive. The beach itself was beautiful with minimal seaweed and very relaxing. Food was good overall, but not memorable. 🍽️ Nothing was bad, but at this price we expected more consistency and a higher-end feel. Reservation availability was also limited at peak dinner times. Service from waitstaff and beach/pool staff was warm and excellent. However, overall service felt reactive rather than proactive, and the “Local Host” program added very little value compared to true butler-style service at similar resorts. Evenings were another miss. The bar scene is limited, seating fills up quickly, and included wine and liquor options are basic and sometimes inconsistent. Entertainment is minimal, with the same live music most nights. The overall vibe leaned more social/group-focused than romantic or luxury. The resort never felt crowded, but many guests were here for weddings or events, which contributed to a more party-oriented atmosphere than expected. 👍 What we liked: Comfortable rooms, excellent housekeeping, great beach and chairs, strong WiFi, friendly frontline staff, relaxing beach atmosphere. ⚠️ What fell short: Not truly luxury, inconsistent premium touches, limited dining reservations, basic bar/wine program, minimal evening entertainment, and overall not a “special occasion” feel. Bottom line: Unico is a good resort — clean, comfortable, and enjoyable — but it’s slightly overpriced for what it delivers. Best for wedding groups, social travelers, or those with moderate expectations. If you’re looking for a romantic, high-end luxury experience, you may want to look elsewhere.

Just got back from a luxurious week stay celebrating a fun filled new years eve 2026. Unico was just what we were looking for, an adults only relaxing stay with fantastic food and drink, beautiful pools and beach, and fun evening entertainment. The staff and service were amazing, especially Madai at the Lobby Bar who lights up the room and your heart with her beautiful smile! The rooms and restaurants are tastefully decorated in authentic Mayan tradition, and the food is top notch especially for an all-inclusive. We definitely plan on returning soon, probably by the end of this year when we need another beautiful beach side relaxing vacation.
