I really hate leaving bad reviews but this resort is not a 5 star resort, the number of poor reviews are a fair representation of our trip. We didn’t let it ruin our holiday and there were lots of good things. Staff are trying their very best and offer good service. The room size was very good. The train to the local town is nice. The beach nearby is absolutely beautiful. 1. Food is extremely poor. The buffet is flavourless and it is clear cheap poor quality food is being used. Most of the food is inedible at the buffet. I have had better meals served to me as a patient in a public hospital This is far from 5 star quality food. 2. All of the wine we had was poor quality budget wine. It’s a shame there isn’t at least an option to buy a good glass of wine. 3. Hygiene and overall cleanliness is very poor and unacceptable for any hotel. There are not enough bathrooms. I had to avoid the common area ones the smell of urine was so strong. It’s gross. 4. The pools are awful. Completely overcrowded, deck chairs falling apart. The flooring around the Pool is a pebble or mucky grass. It’s like a campsite. Not enjoyable at all to be by the pool. There are too many guests for the size of the resort. 5. There is zero enforcement of rules in the pools. No life guards. The children’s pool is very dangerous with older kids going down slides on large inflatables at speed. Very unsafe. I would be extremely concerned about the water safety and risk of injury and drowning in the pools. The hotel is an hour from the airport - the hotel website states 45 mins and transfer costs €85 through the hotel.

If you’re looking for high end services, and think you’ve found it based on the pricing of this place, you’ll be disappointed. With one day in, and still 11 days more to go we are highly disappointed. Services is extremely bad, already started at check-in where we were greeted as “I need to work” instead of a nice welcome with maybe a welcome drink. The drink is there but you have to find it yourself somewhere in the corner and help yourself. Towels are not available at all the pools, make you walk for 10-15 minutes back and forth. Drink you need to walk for yourself. With a bit of luck also this will costs you 15 minutes. There is no service at the pools. We only had breakfast so far, at the premium breakfast, which was cold. Only the omelet station is somewhat okay. The coffee is bad. The hotel room was full with bugs which had to be cleaned first after we notified the hotel. I will edit this review the coming days, as this is only the first day we’re in, but the first impression isn’t great, and definitely not worth the premium price we paid. It feels that everything is maximized for profit and not for service.

We are currently staying at the Tivoli Hotel Alvor and are feeling very comfortable and well taken care of. The hotel is very new, everything is spotlessly clean, and the overall atmosphere is welcoming and relaxing. Most importantly, the head chef Rodrigo is doing an outstanding job. Our daughter has celiac disease and needs to follow a strict gluten-free diet. Chef Rodrigo has gone above and beyond to ensure she is safe and well cared for, creating a truly wonderful culinary experience for us. Thanks to his attention and knowledge, we feel completely at ease when it comes to food – which is a huge relief when traveling with dietary restrictions. In general, all the staff members have been extremely friendly, attentive, and helpful, making our stay even more enjoyable. We are truly impressed and highly recommend this hotel – especially for families and guests with special dietary needs.

Just came back from a wonderful experience at Tivoli in Alvor! We had an absolute blast and were really happy with booking at Tivoli. Staff was extremely friendly and help making the stay unforgettable. Food options were amazing and the quality of the food as well! Only thing that was experienced as a downside was the fitness area - which could be massively improved to cater for some holiday workouts!

Pictures suggest it’s luxurious and for adults, in reality it’s like a playground. Even out of season, there are kids everywhere. Babies, toddlers, the parents cart them in rain or shine. No chance of a relaxing evening meal here, there will be a toddler or baby screaming uncontrollably. The pools are not heated despite saying they are (freezing). The hotel says there’s something for everyone suggesting there’s stuff for adults, this is misleading. Yes there’s the adult pool, which is great if you can get a sun bed due to everyone placing towels and buggering off. But that’s where the adult offer ends. Dinner time, no matter what time you try and dine, from 6pm to 10 there’s parents coming in with their screaming babies and toddlers. The restaurant looks amazing with a lovely outdoor area overlooking the adult pool where you can watch the sun set - but it’s ruined by screaming babies and fussing toddlers. There should either be an adults only area in the massive restaurant or a designated kids area or something. Despite us moving away from some, these parents and their kin will keep coming and sitting right by us! We just want to be left alone to enjoy our evening meal in the nice setting. This hotel doesn’t know what it is, on one hand it’s lovely and presents itself as 5 stars but on the other hand it’s basically a crèche. Other points to note: - Dirty, NOT HEATED pools (despite advertised as such) - Rooms not cleaned properly - Rooms not restocked properly (milk!) - Premium drinks situation isn’t obvious - extremely poorly lit pathways (pitch black) - evening entertainment is for kids - DJ is awful, read the room Another thing that wasn’t great was when we tried to check in, our room wasn’t ready until 3pm. We were given wristbands and told we’d get a text when the room was ready… 3 hours later after a couple of gross cocktails we went to reception and spoke to a different man. We asked how the premium drinks package works that we’d paid extra for, he then cut our blue wristbands off and gave us gold ones, glad we checked! Also our room had been ready a while apparently but no text had come through. All we wanted to do was kick off our travelling clothes and relax in our room! It wasn’t clear at all how anything worked, I’ve had about 5 different pina coladas since I’ve been here, no one makes it the same across the resort. Some with premium spirits, some with the local glass cleaner. Summary: If you have children, this hotel is fantastic - kids pool looks awesome with water park features like slides and fountains etc- play area, football pitch etc If you’re a couple that wants to relax and have a peaceful time, avoid! The adult pool is the only area you’re safe. Dinner is always met with screaming kids! This hotel doesn’t know what it’s trying to be. It looks luxurious and like it’s a place to relax (the main photo is the adult pool) for couples, with some activities for kids. No, it’s 95% for families and 5% couples. We won’t be coming back, despite the great food and setting - it’s just not the relaxing break that we wanted.
