Just returned from our week at the resort. While not really luxury accommodations, a very nice place and experience. Our ocean front room was large with a comfortable bed, good airflow, hot shower, dresser drawers so you can unpack all your clothes and a big enough closet so you can put your bags away. We were 900 steps from the center of the property where most of the very good restaurants are located. I say that because it is a 30 acre property so to get around you either need to walk or take their very convenient golf carts. We like to walk and averaged 13,000 or so steps per day. This included our walk to Long Beach which is down the street. (you can also cut through the property and walk to Devil’s Bridge - about 10 minutes away). The food at all the restaurants was very good and consistently good for each meal among all the restaurants. Actually, the best I’ve ever had among all the restaurants I’ve been to in the Caribbean - and we’ve been to a bunch of places. The one thing I’d be careful with is Nicole’s. There is a $50 per person surcharge, presumably because the food, service and “fine dining “ experience was supposed to be better than the other restaurants. It wasn’t for us. It was very good, but not worth the $100 for the two of us. Portifino’s and Sails and Tails, were just as good for us. In terms of the beaches we spent most of our time at Lover’s beach. Never had a problem getting a place to sit. Since there are pop up showers periodically, I suggest finding the larger thatched umbrellas to sit under so when it rains you can stay put. In terms of friendliness and service, I was very good. Look for Theodore in the restaurants, he was amazing! Finally, while the facility is old, the indoor restaurants have been updated and are very nice. The overall complex is well maintained and very clean. I would certainly go back!!!

I have nothing but amazing things to say. I don’t understand how this resort could have any bad reviews. From the rooms to the food and the beautiful beach and amazing staff, we were BLOWN away. We got the private candlelight dinner and Risa was our server, she was incredible and deserves a raise, she SANG to us at dinner after we told her we just got engaged. She was so sweet and gave us incredible service. Theo at sails and tails is absolutely incredible. He talked to us like we have known each other forever and we enjoyed eating there more because of him! Tristain who drove the golf cart was so sweet and talked to us about every part of our trip and why we loved it so much. Every single staff member was AMAZING even though I didnt get everyones name down. The food was incredible, especially for an all inclusive resort. We know it can be hit or miss but every single meal was great. The room was clean and the shower was beautiful. We went with another couple and got rooms right next to each other with a shared balcony, we couldn’t have asked for anything better and more accommodating. My friend we traveled with has a dairy allergy as well, and the staff was so attentive to her meals and snacks. Anyway, thank you so much to the verandah staff for making our vacation so incredibly awesome. We will be back very soon

The rooms are huge but the housekeeping was substantially substandard. I’ve never stayed at a resort where my socks got dirty from walking on the floor. The service is horrible. The staff seemed to cater to the white guests while ignoring and at times even rude towards the black guests. Overall the male staff were far more courteous than the female staff. We couldn’t even get a cart to our room to take us to different locations on the resort but somehow they were routinely picking up the white guests. The location is pretty far from most of the attractions in town. The food was not good. In fairness I am vegan but they don’t have food item labeled with symbols to let you know if it’s vegan or vegetarian friendly. The places you’re supposed to eat at have very limited times that they’re opened so it’s more like eat now or wait until later. Not a lot of activities to do. Geared towards older adults in my opinion. I was unhappy and hungry and couldn’t wait to leave. Beyond disappointed for visiting a beautiful tropical Caribbean country and had a horrible stay!

We just returned from a one week stay at the Verandah Resort and Spa and enjoyed every minute of our time there. The staff overall was exceptional and the food above average for an all inclusive. The service at the a la carte restaurants was excellent, however we did experience some inconsistencies in service at the buffet in regards to clearing dishes, filling water and bringing coffee in the morning. The resort is spread out nicely so it never felt crowded. The main pool offered activities throughout the day and we enjoyed spending time on Lover’s Beach. The water was calm and clear and circular floats dotted the water. We also visited Rasta Beach; which is at the other end of the resort. The beach itself was beautiful with many lounge chairs available under the palm trees. The water, however, is shallow with sea weed and not inviting for swimming. There was a nice pool located here so that made up for the shortcomings of the sea. As a response to a recent review regarding loud and brash Americans( we were staying here at the same time this review was posted), I can attest that we never experienced any inappropriate loud behavior during our time there. We were at the main pool quite often and the only noise we heard were guests participating in water aerobics or having fun playing volleyball. There are other pools located on site if one prefers a quieter atmosphere. I will say the guests we met were all friendly and welcoming and we enjoyed talking to them throughout our stay. Also, previous reviews complained about pool/beach towels being scarce. I’m happy to say they addressed this issue as towels were continually replenished throughout the day. Needless to say, we were very happy with our stay at the Verandah.

Breathtaking views and had a great time but not much to do in the resort. Wanted to play pickleball but there was some kind of pickleball convention going on. We tried everyday of our trip and all the courts were always full so that was disappointing. Loved the mini golf to kill time before dinner. Wanted to kayak before it got hot but worker said water sports didn't open until 11am so that was also upsetting. Portofinos restaurant was delicious, rest of the food was meh. Rooms and balcony were huge. Workers were asking for apple pay even though we were tipping cash and it made us uncomfortable. Besides that I think it was well worth the price and glad we stayed
